We were seated right away and the servers were very friendly. We didn't have to wait for anything which was greatly appreciated. Whether it was ordering drinks, refilling water, and even checking out, the entire experience was top notch. The food was freshly prepared and packed with flavor. The fish tacos were paired with a fresh slaw and came with rice and beans. The portions were very generous so make sure you are hungry. The steak spaghetti was surprisingly well balanced and packed with flavor despite looking pretty basic with a few pieces of steak. Really looking forward to coming back again!

The free popcorn still isn't good or all that enjoyable, service can be hit or miss, drinks are expensive, and the food is very good. The Reston location does have plenty of large TVs, making it a solid place to catch a game. This was a guys' night out for food and drinks, but it's probably not going to become a regular meetup spot when a couple of easy changes could make a big difference. First, get rid of the popcorn, it's honestly laughable. Second, bring the drink prices down. A Wild Turkey and Coke shouldn't cost $14. We started with something to share. My biggest concern was value for the price, and the menu only had a few appetizers that felt both shareable and reasonably priced. The Bavarian Pretzel was good, although I wasn't a fan of the mustard dip. At $10, it's a decent value for two or three people. The chili nachos were tasty, but $18 is just too much for what you get. Even if they doubled the chips and chili, I'd still think they were overpriced by a couple of dollars. I'll definitely give them credit for the entrées. On my last visit I had the jambalaya, which was excellent. This time I ordered the Peruvian-spiced half chicken, and it was fantastic. I ended up spending almost $100. I had a good time and enjoyed the food, but Open Road has moved into my "splurge" category rather than my monthly hangout spot. Our server may have been new because service was slow, and the kitchen was also taking a long time to get food out, especially for a Friday night. I'm giving the Reston location four stars, just like Arlington. The food was tasty, I had a good time, and I'd come back, ... but.... the little things, especially the drink prices, lopsided menu pricing, and inconsistent service, keep it from being one of my spontaneous go-to spots.

The inside is simple, with the occasional nod to ships at sea, which is easy to do if you have lots of barrels for aging spirits. There is a little bar where they make great cocktails rather quickly. They have spirit-forward as well as citrusy. Never had one I didn't like. The spirits (as of this writing, still available at some local liquor shops) are fantastic. My absolute favorite is the Lady Anne white rum. Some white rums are barely better than rbbing alcohol, but this has character and depth and makes a fantastic mojito. RIP Lost Ark!

There is a retail area as well. They sell different varieties of their delicious concoctions. The menu is on a TV and there are so many options to pick from. A flight of 4 tastings is $8 and gives you the opportunity to try out the different types of alcohol. The Carmel cream was very good. The South of Manhattan and Muddy Waters were fantastic cocktails. We were greeted upon entering and Erik was very friendly. We sat at the bar. He was filling lots of orders (people come to the bar and order, then sit in the rum lounge area) and was still very attentive and welcoming. They do tours and sampling. Check their socials for more information. They also have an extensive list of entertainment.

The owner, though, still recognized us when we walked in the door (even after a year or so). She is so kind and knowledgeable. The spirits are always tasty, and they often have new ones to sample. The Dragon's Den is very fun. Yummy food, though I do wish there were one or two more vegetarian options. We got the nachos on this occasion, and they were really good. The drinks are the main attraction, and the menu is quite extensive. You really can't go wrong! There's plenty of seating (but it can get quite full). Our favorite part is that there are various board games to grab and play. Axe throwing is available, too. Highly, highly recommend!

They have a Game of Thrones/Dungeons and Dragon kind of theme going on, with cocktails named after the different houses and a page where you can roll for your drink. I went with a flight to try out some of their whiskeys, but they also make gin and vodka. The flight was ok, I find when you make all the things nothing really stands out, but the Everyday whiskey was a nice smooth sip which I very much enjoyed. For dinner I had the smoked brisket which was tasty, but the sides (garlic mashed potatoes, carrots and asparagus) were fire. Service was great, they weren't very busy so it was easy to get a table and get served. Overall I would definitely come back to roll for a random cocktail and enjoy more flights of their other offerings!

He took the time to explain everything in detail, which gave a great appreciation for how much goes into making their bourbon. After the tour, we had the opportunity to taste several of their bourbons, which was definitely a highlight. Each one had its own unique flavor profile, and it was a fun and engaging experience to compare them. Overall, a great stop if you enjoy bourbon and want to learn more about the craft. Just be prepared for a slightly longer tour, but it is worth it for the knowledge and tasting experience.

We had a bit of time to browse the store before the tour started. The tour was about an hour and included a free tasting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and led us through the history of Virginia's oldest distillery. He was a bit hard to understand and talked VERY fast, which made it tough to absorb much of the info. However, for a free activity I enjoyed it. The best part of course was the tasting at the end. We were led through how to taste the spirits and given water and crackers as palate cleansers. We tried one of their gins, two bourbons, and the caramel bourbon cream liqueur. The bourbon cream was delicious and so smooth! I really liked the gin as well. We all ended up buying at least one bottle, so I'd say it was a success.
