The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and their willingness to let you explore just about anything and everything they create makes the experience truly exceptional. From traditional spirits to imaginative adaptations and unique concoctions, there's something here for every palate. The flavors are inventive, the creativity is evident, and there's a good chance you'll discover something that speaks directly to your taste.
The atmosphere is clean, humble, and unpretentious. There's no need for flash or extravagance. But the experience that took this visit from memorable to extraordinary was the opportunity to step into the back room for a private barrel tasting with just five or six other patrons. One of the owners personally led us through four barrel-strength offerings, drawing samples straight from each barrel and pouring them for us to experience firsthand. With every barrel, the flavors grew deeper, richer, and more complex. Each had its own distinct personality, its own story, and its own remarkable depth. It wasn't simply a tasting; it was a journey through the character and craftsmanship of the whiskey itself.
And then came the moment that made the entire experience unforgettable.
The fourth barrel, a beautiful blend of four grains, was absolutely stunning. Its flavor, depth, and balance came together in a way that made me want to preserve the experience long after leaving the distillery. I asked the owner whether any bottles were available for purchase. His initial answer was no. But rather than letting the moment end there, he went above and beyond, offering to fill, autograph, and seal a bottle straight from any of the four barrels for me and anyone else who wanted one.
That is the kind of generosity you simply cannot manufacture. It was personal, spontaneous, and completely unexpected. It transformed an incredible tasting into a story I'll be telling for years to come.
I walked away with a bottle from Barrel No. 4, and every sip continues to take me back to that moment. This is not a bottle you rush through or open casually. It's one you savor slowly, appreciate deeply, and share with the people who mean the most to you on those rare occasions that deserve something truly special.
