I had THE MOST unpleasant experience at this restaurant tonight. I called last night to let them know we were planning to come tonight to celebrate a birthday, and I asked if I made a cake would it be okay to bring it to the restaurant. The woman who answered said it would be fine. We ate there tonight and the food was okay. The deep fried foods are hand-dipped, which is nice, The broiled whitefish was just okay. After dinner, I brought out the cake and started to serve it and the waitress said very loudly across the room that I can't serve that here. I explained that I had called last night and was told it would be fine. She said there is a regulation about not serving homemade foods. I said that's fine, I will put it away, but that I had called last night and asked about bringing a homemade cake just to avoid a situation like this. At this point another woman came up, who I was later told is the owner, and so I explained again that I had called last night and was told it would be fine to bring the cake. I actually thought she had come over to help the situation, and I expected her response to be something along the lines of apologizing that I was misinformed and apologizing for the confusion. I was very wrong about that. Instead she came over to tell me that she was there all last night and didn't talk to anyone about a cake. I was surprised at the nasty turn the conversation took. I never expected to be accused of lying about my phone call! I did my due diligence to follow restaurant policy, and thought somebody would want to make sure all employees knew of the policy to avoid future misunderstandings. I was extremely surprised to find out that she is the owner. We love to support local businesses and understand how hard it is to be a small business owner. We always try to be patient and understanding when unexpected situations arise, but I don't see any reason to come back to a restaurant where the owner would accuse me of lying, and especially over something so unimportant. I'd like to think she was Just having an off day and it is not her personality, but I don't need to find out because there are better, friendlier restaurants I can support. read more

Food was fabulous. The service was quick and great. We ordered appetizers before our food, we barely touched our entrees. The onion rings, fried mushrooms & fried picked were delicious. We had smelt which was good, & steak & lobster & that was obv good too. Def check this place out. Cool decor and very busy which is a good thing ;) They serve booze and have a bar in the back. To go order. I want to support local businesses but this one is a definite miss. Dining area largely empty, my order was to go. Woman at counter acted as if she hated life and customers alike. Took my order with poor grace, it took quite awhile, no explanation why food so slow to appear. When it finally appeared, in a to-go bag slammed down the counter, wow, just wow, normally I will not tolerate that poor behavior but you know, I was hungry and so back to the car. The sandwich was okay but what's this? Coleslaw with no fork to eat it with? No napkins to wipe the grease from my hands? The food was good but the "free attitude" from server and cashier was enough to make me say NOT GOING TO SUPPORT THIS LOCAL BUSINESS! read more

This used to be my all time favorite restaurant. The only thing going for them is the asparagus. The only thing I've ever really gotten was the French dip, it was my favorite and the best around here. But the last two times I've had the food it was just terrible. This restaurant was very disappointing. They put our order in last, so people who sat down after us got their food before us, and the wait after we ordered was around an hour. Now, I'm understand accidents happen, however the waitress was not apologetic or anything. Our steak was overcooked and most of our food was cold. When speaking to the manager about our experience at checkout, she didn't even acknowledge that our experience was bad. I would not recommend this place ever. read more

We use to be regulars here. It is always very clean here and wait staff is always smiling and very friendly and good at recognizing return customers. Since new owners our food has not been the same quality at all. Alfredo was soupy, lobster was underdone, steak was like shoe leather, etc etc. We unfortunately stopped going. read more

We came here on a recommendation from another business that we visited. We waited about 20 minutes for a table on a Friday night, not terrible. They have a full bar, which was nice. We had an app, a half order of onion rings, they were good, they came out in a vertical presentation on a stick, each was about an inch tall!! 3 stars is because our server must have put the onion ring appetizer order in and forgot to put the dinner order in, because the onions were quick and dinner took at least 45 minutes. No apology, (no well done steaks ordered) There was no "here's a drink on the house" in fact we were pretty much ignored most of the time we waited for food and got some curt responses (which I would never hold against a busy waitress but for the other lacks in service). My kids enjoyed their fried shrimp and grilled cheese kids meals, my pulled pork had good flavor (apparently this is what they are known for) but it was so "pulled" that it had a mashed potato texture, which I don't prefer; it was almost like they put the meat in a food processor. The wet burrito was really big, but it is no comparison to a legit Mexican burrito, the server gave no info on the sauce at all, (I'm guessing a basic enchilada sauce plus melted cheese) I would give it a 5/10. read more

Very very good BBQ pulled Pork Sandwich and foot stack of home made breaded onion rings served on a paper towel dispenser. Our waitress was the bomb ;) Very nice Good up sell on the Oberon. Our party of 10 walked right in for a late afternoon lunch on a Saturday. Food here is average. Decent quality and price for burgers and sandwiches, but the entrees are overpriced for the quality and amount of food. For all of the people that mentioned large portions, they must have small appetites. I ordered the chicken sandwich with mushrooms and it was good. I finished every bite and was thinking about more food when I left. I thought they were a little chincy on the fries. I would bet that nothing here is made from scratch. A friend ordered the vegetarian alfredo and basically it looked like sauce poured out of a jar on top of some noodles with mushy baby carrots mixed in. Another friend ordered the veggie instead of fries as a side and it was a handful of baby carrots which looked plain and mushy. I will give an A+ for service though. The food was great and large portions. Mozzarella Sticks were a huge hit with my picky child, burgers were large, bacon mac and cheese was delicious and fried fish was excellent. The wait staff was fabulous, I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. They even gave us a bag of ice for my son that hurt his leg at the dunes! read more

We came to this restaurant remembering their old ownership and good service and returned this summer for a much different experience... waiting staff was tardy to non existent. It took ages to get seated when clearly there were available tables. Our food took even longer especially our appetizers. In the meantime we were not checked on nor offered refills to the drinks. Only decent place in the area to eat. We've been here before and the food was pretty good. A little pricey especially the appetizers. When we arrived, they said it would be a 15 min wait. We were in a hurry and asked if we could order to go. They weren't taking orders to go. So then we asked if we could order so that our food will be ready by the time we sat. And they said they couldn't. They finally sat us. Service is very slow. We noticed that the table next to us ordered their food at the same time, got it and finished it before we even got ours. We then asked another waitress to check on our food. They finally brought it out and it didn't seem fresh. Almost like it sat there for 10-15 minutes after it was done. All in all, dinner took us over 2 hrs which placed us over two hour behind in our travel schedules. So if you're not in a hurry, this is a good place to eat. Otherwise, keep on driving. read more

Table for four adults two kids highly highly recommend this restaurant. Crystal was our server, one of the best we've ever had. We ordered the House onion rings and breaded cauliflower both to die for. The lake perch is the best we've ever had. Gourmet mac & cheese was awesome and had real bacon in it. Spaghetti kids cheeseburger sizzle steak and beer battered shrimp all very very good. Prices were very very reasonable for the quality of food and quantity of food that we received. This is not a choice of mine AT all... I find their menu "empty". Not many options. The food don't have much flavor, I mean a burger will taste like a typical burger and a steak like a typical steak. I don't find their food, tasty per say. Prices are quite high for the taste of their food. It gets busy in the summer, but then again, where else do you go in Hart. So instead of driving a few more miles or bother to look for something else in the area... People choose to bite the dust. read more

I have always had a quality meal here. During the summer it can get quite packed with tourists staying in Silver Lake area. They have early bird specials and usually have two house made soups. Good place for lunch or dinner. read more

This is easy acess on and off the expressway. It is casual dress, excellant service, welcoming atmosphere and good food. We have dined here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The shrimp are in the lightest batter and steaks are medium rare just as asked for. There is seating in the bar and in the main room for dining. If you need a bite around these parts, this isn't a terrible choice. As a vegetarian there isn't much on the menu but that is the trend in rural MI. The fried pickles were salty but good. My husband LOVED the cheese cubes. I got a pretty gross caesar salad, so I'd say stay away from that. The service was attentive. read more
