Came for breakfast on Memorial Day 2021 about 10:30 an. It's takeout only because of covid but the have outdoor seating. The line was short and went pretty fast. I ordered the Hungry Man and a large coffee for about $14. The Hungry man is about 10-11 and I believe the most expensive thing on the breakfast menu. 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and choice of meat. My order came up quickly and so did others around me. It was a lot of food and it was all very good. I will probably come back tomorrow or for dinner tonight. I give it 4 stars. I'm reserving 5 for a great place I haven't ate yet. read more

Great little place to grab breakfast. I had the meat lover omelet. Didn't wait long for it and was good. Coffee tasted great and the service was good also. read more

Delicious breakfast... very hot and fresh!! We ordered from their to-go window which was super convenient, especially during covid. I got the breakfast sandwich without meat and it was amazing! Definitely coming back tomorrow for a veggie breakfast burrito! read more

This was a large waste of money. Frozen apps out of a box and we asked for their specialty and the server said the perch and turkey Reuben. We did both and a burger and chicken Alfredo. The Reuben was not good and smelled. The perch were not fresh and the Alfredo was a cheesy white / cheddar blob of spaghetti noodles. It actually was ok but not Alfredo at all. They only sell bottled water and soft drinks. Another family came in ordered and then went out and got a couple of bottled waters from their car and the waitress told them they could place the bottles next to the door, but they were not allowed to bring them in per the sign. She was so rude they walked out upset. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE!!! If you have money and know how to run a restaurant - open one up in silver lake - they need a good one!!! read more

We asked a local who works at the Buggy rental where to have lunch; said he eats here, so we gave it a try. The Pizza was Great and the service was top notch. The outdoor seating was a little limited, but okay. We would go again if we are back in town. read more

Do not eat here. The food is gross especially the "buffet" with the rock hard biscuits and hashbrowns oh and the old eggs. YUCK. This place is old and dingy. First time here and the last.only gave it a 1 star because i had to rate to post a review read more

Sand Castle Restaunt - This was literally the best thing on the menu. Do not eat here the food is gross especially the "buffet" with the rock hard food - American Near Me - Mears, Michigan

Despite many negative reviews about this place I'd give it a three star because I enjoyed the food we ordered (for the most part). Bosco sticks for appetizers which were honestly delicious. My friend ordered their special Sea Dog sandwich which was cooked to perfection and actually really good as well. It all took a turn with my pulled pork sandwich. It was more of a mushy mess then actual pulled pork. My fries were under cooked and super blanched in color. Some of the prices were outrageous too, $18 for fish and chips if I remember correctly. Average place all together. read more

If i could give this place zero stars i would charges for water, only one waiter, smells inside like mold, foldable tables, wouldn't let my friend bring in a cup of water from starbucks because "the cdc will can shut them down for contamination " sounds like total bullshit to me and $$$$$ for them to charge you for bottled water. Also stains on the floor.... read more

I'm surprised this place is still in business. Food was cold and not good. Had the French dip and for $10 it was so bland. DONT order a fountain drink it has a horrible after taste from the awful irony well water they have. The well water is so gross they wont even serve you a glass of water. You have to buy a bottle of water. The bathroom was gross and and dried poop Stuck the the seat and just a trickle of Water to wash your hands with. read more

Prices are way to high. I got the BLT it was $7 and that's all you get. They only sell bottle water. Yes I had Ginger with me and there was also another service dog too. He was pacing when he saw Ginger we're Ginger just laid down and ignored him yet I was the one that they want to see her papers. Pointed to her vest and said thats all you need. Although I could tell she was mad that was the end of it. Next time we come we'll bring our own food. read more

Sand Castle Restaunt - Not a $6.95 sandwich. For that price it includes fries at most places. - American Near Me - Mears, Michigan

Fried perch was the best I've ever had! Super nice server. Nice country feel. Would go again just for the perch!! Opening day 2019!!!! Fried perch was as good as I remember....served with wedges of fresh lemon and a dill flavored tarter sauce...delicious! Can't wait to come back! read more

Highway robbery. $75 breakfast that wasn't worth eating. Apple juice for the kiddos $2.75. Take the money and run. We'll never eat there again. read more

Great food and service with a good view of the town. The service is good and let me say again the food was delicious!

This restaurant looked quaint and inviting from the outside- it all went down hill from there. The food was atrocious! Nothing homemade, everything tasted like over-processed cardboard- Prices were outrageous for what you got, spent 40.00, left disappointed and hungry - do yourself and your wallet a favor and skip this one. Would give less than one star if it would let me. read more

We stopped here when we first arrived in town for breakfast. The parking lot was packed on a Friday morning ('they must have good food!!') and we took the last booth available. A nice gentleman brought us menus right away, but we noticed at least three waitresses walking very briskly carrying things and sweating profusely. None of them greeted us or said she'd be right back or even she won't be right back. So we left after about 15 minutes of being ignored. We got breakfast in Mears, but that is another review. In fairness, that same day we wanted a salad for dinner, so we ordered a chefs salad carry out from here and it was pretty durn good. I asked for plates though, and the waitress said just cut the styrofoam container in half and you'll have two plates! which I though was odd. On Saturday morning before the breakfast rush, we stopped back in for a hot coco for my sweetie and we met a guy in there from our neck of Michigan and so we talked to him for about a half hour. I ordered a cup of coffee as well, and It was good and hot. It's right at the roundabout in town, so it's convenient if you're staying in town. read more

This restaurant was pretty bad. I ordered the 3 piece "fresh" lake perch with fries, husband got the wet burrito with chicken, one kid got the mini ravioli, and the other Mac and cheese. We'll start with the perch and fries. The fish itself was not terrible. However for the 12.95 price you got three "nuggets" and (I counted) 12 crinkle cut French fries. My husband had no complaints of the wet burrito. It was pretty fair sized. The Mac and cheese was out of a box and served with about 5 ripple chips. The kids mini ravioli was chef boyardee served with about 6 ripple chips. The ice water and iced tea tasted like they sourced it from the lake across the street. Maybe even worse then lake water. I asked for lemon to make my water better and was told "lemon is only served with the perch not the water". My kids said the bathroom was disgusting. The floor was dirty. For $41 plus tip, spend your money elsewhere. read more

Awful. Breakfast buffet was tiny and no bacon for $11. Maybe the worst "diner" we've ever been to. read more

My family has been coming to this town for years and years and have always eaten here every time we stop, never had the food been this awful. My husband ordered nachos and the hamburger meat was cold. The chili cheese fries were cold in the middle, like they took a handful of fries, threw canned chili on top and some shredded cheese and stuck it in the microwave for a minuet. Cheese wasn't even melted. I ordered a hot turkey sandwich which was completely nasty. Couple slices of cold soggy bread with a few pieces of deli meat. Watery mashed potatoes in the middle and the entire plate was covered in nasty breakfast sausage gravy. The only good thing was the bosco sticks. read more

What a horrible place! The place is filthy. There is junky furniture in a pile in the back corner. The servers are super rude. Not a good choice. Slow service and crappy food. Two of us for breakfast and it cost $35. Hash browns were rubbery, bacon over cooked, eggs either too done or not done enough, they charge for water. Only good thing was the toast. read more

I would give this a 4.5 but i can't, it doesn't deserve a 5 though. Food was good and fresh but took ages to be prepared. The selection was rather miled but pretty good. They said their burgers where good so i took the barbecue-burger. ( its basically a beef burger inlaid in BBQ-sauce.) It was okay. I do suggest this place though. read more

Ate here summer of 2012. The Ruben was soggy, and cold. Ordered a water and it tasted like it came from the lake. Friends of mine ordered soda, and had the same lake-like taste to it. Pizza was gross and tasted like dog food. The only way I can imagine they stay in business is because they live off of the tourists in the area. read more

Horrible food. Awful service! Enough said. My food was cold and didn't taste good. My kids food was barely edible and way small and overpriced. My husband's pizza was barely cooked. When I complained they just said we will tell the cook. Said they couldn't give a discount. Really disappointed. read more

Overpriced tourist trap. The portions were enough to satisfy but the price was too high for the size. Food was just ok. The floor was very stained and dirty. My advice is to eat somewhere else if you can. read more

My family and I ordered water with our food. The water was terrible. I have had well water before but this was undrinkable. It even had a film on top. When you walk into a restaurant at dinner time and it's empty...complete bad service. Food was cold. Waste of money and time. Waitress was very rude. My brother went to get water out of our car and she yelled at him to get the water out of her restaurant and like freaked out. Then told my grandma she couldn't get a refill because we were sitting outside...what? Do yourself a favor and not waste your time and money at this place. read more

Everything was good except for the beverages that mix with the tap (well) water. It gave a sulphur taste in the water and sodas. Prices were a little high but it is a tourist town. read more

You should avoid this place! The problem is there aren't a lot of choices in town so you might be tempted to try it, but don't. I felt bad for our waitress because it seems like a management or kitchen problem. I have been here several times over the years but it seems to have really gone down hill. The first time we went for breakfast and it took 40min. To get scrambled eggs and toast. The second time we were there it took almost a half hour to get drinks. After a long wait the first couple of meals came out of the kitchen and over the next 20min. the rest of the meals trickled out. So, by the time the last meal arrived the others were already done eating. Then finally the salad came out. The guy at the table next to us was advising people that walked in the door that they should go somewhere else. read more

We got into town mif-afternoon. This restaurant was our choice for lunch. We were promptly greeted and served by Sandy. She got the drinks to us quickly and took our orders. The meal was very good. We inquired about activities within town. Eithout hesitation, she provided us with a map and directions. It's nice to see that customer service still means something. Will definitely go back to this restaurant. read more

For a breakfast joint located between so many resorts you would expect much better. A bit put off when I walked in by myself with my 3 children and was barely greeted and not offered a high chair for my toddler. The waitress was much more eager to serve the party coming in behind me that contained 8 gentleman. Very pricey for what you get (small portions) and the quality was just ok. read more

So I read all the reviews before coming to this restaurant... I didn't really want to but it's the only place in town that serves breakfast-unless you want doughnuts. I should also say that my boyfriend and I have traveled all over Michigan this summer and our rule when it comes to meals is local businesses, and we love dive type places so he encouraged me to just give it a try...I ordered French Toast with a side of bacon and American Fries w/ Sausage Country Gravy and a Sprite to drink. My first drink choice was water but it only comes bottled and they charge $1.50 for it. my French Toast was fine- not amazing but edible with butter and syrup, bacon was good (I asked that it be cooked crispy and it was just how I wanted) my American Fries were disgusting... they did not have any gravy as advertised and my boyfriend and I had explained we were ordering them to share- they served them on a coffee saucer, so not enough to share but that didn't matter in the end because they were nasty- oily, cold and the grease tasted rancid. I realize that we were eating at a diner and for the most part it was standard diner fare- but the prices were really high for the quality and quantity of food we got. The waitress was really friendly, she asked us about our travels- the only problem I had was she knew that the side we ordered to share wasn't correct- "went to check something" the next time we saw her was 20 minutes later to give us our bill. Next time we come to Silver Lake we won't be dining here read more

This restaurant charges for water (they say only bottled water is available) even though they have fountain drinks. Breakfast is served until 11. My scrambled eggs were runny, I sent the bacon back to get it crisp, even though I asked for it crispy the first time. My husband ordered blueberry pancakes and found a chunk of onion in it which ruined his appetite. They refunded 1/2 of the charge for the pancakes. Very expensive ($3.75 for a large orange juice). The breakfast for 2 adults was $30 before tip. read more

Never again over priced. Even charge for waters. Very dirty, Floor under table was full of food from last people.

This is a total recommend! The food is delicious, and it came out really quick. The staff is very nice, and helpful. Great food, great prices, and great service! read more

Definitely having staff issues. Very slow service from table side through to food delivery. Breakfast for three took just over an hour from order to delivery. A Monday morning, not a full house. Was forewarned by exiting people as we went in, should have taken the advice. read more

Probably the worst thing you could eat in town. I would (not kidding) recommend a bag of jerky and some Doritos over this place, at least you would be less disappointed. Went there with a big group of 10. The service was pretty good, but very few in my group really enjoyed the food. A few observations: 1. The burgers were super greasy 2. The wrap I ordered was not how I ordered it at all. It had olives on it when I asked for no olives and was missing the onions I requested. It also had a weird, gross cheese that was slimy and definitely not the swiss I ordered. Needless to say I paid almost $10 for a sandwich without fries that I took 2 bites of. 3. It was also pretty expensive for the quality and quantity. 4. Charged for water read more
