Hands down the BEST restaurant in Midland! Service was quick, friendly, and eager to please. Food: They start you with complimentary pimiento cheese that's DELICIOUS! It has jalapeños in it which gives it a nice cake. We also ordered the crabcakes. They were very crispy and filled with lots of real crab. I chose to do the restaurant week menu. It came with an appetizer of beat and goat cheese salad. I'm not a big beer fan but it was delicious. Next I received the braised short rib with cheesy grits and root vegetables. My boyfriend did not do the restaurant week, he chose the ribeye with blue cheese on top. If you're going to get a steak make sure you get the blue cheese, it was to die for. His came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. For desert we had the bourbon bread pudding, and it was awesome just like everything else. This was our first time and we will definitely return! The other nicer restaurants in midland that we have gone to took so long to bring out the food. We spent about an hour on dinner which is the perfect amount of time for us! read more

The macaroni and cheese with bacon was literally the best thing on the planet. Service was exceptional, but the ranch dressing is very gross and we really didn't care for the flavor of our steak. We got the truffle butter, so maybe that was the issue, but overall the flavors just didn't seem to be great for us. Other than the bacon Mac and cheese, we were not particularly impressed with the food. We might try it again, as the atmosphere was nice and the service is great. This place was pretty good. I wouldn't say amazing but definitely worth going to. They have a strict dress code, so no hats boys. The drink I got was amazing. I'm not a big drinker and omg it was everything. The corn cakes appetizer was also amazing!! My Mac and cheese was very ok and they forgot the bacon. The waiter was amazing and made up for it though. Opal's table has good fun and is one of the nicer places in town, but we don't think the food is worth the money you pay for it. We enjoy going there for a bit more of an upscale experience, but still Midland casual vibe. Wish the prices weren't as high for the plates you get. read more

Best dining experience I have had in Midland, hands down. Our server, Keith, was the perfect amount of attentive, the cocktails were amazing, and the food was delicious. My pork was amazingly flavored, but cooked well done- which is how most people like it- but I would've appreciated it medium or medium rare. Otherwise there are no complaints between apps, entrees, and drinks. My husbands shrimp and grits were to die for. The Spanish gin and tonic is the beautiful concoction with rosemary in it, and the crazy color changing drink is the chameleon, the last is the Eva Green. They are all amazing but wowza, the Eva Green will sneak up and bite you in the butt, it is so deliciously smooth... and full of vodka. We will DEFINITELY be back. The rest of the MAC was relatively bland. For entree we had the rack of lamb and fried chicken. The fried chicken was good. The rack of lamb, I have had better. It was a very fatty portion. The flavor was good, but not the best I have had. It came served on a massive portion of peas in a sauce. The sauce was good, but somewhat over powered by the pea flavor. Beautiful decorations, and unique menu. The seating area is quaint and tables are very close together but me and my group of 3 did not have any problems. The place was busy and seemed to only have 2 servers, but they were very hard workers and kept a smile. The menu was minimalist, food is a tad pricy and The wait was very long, but they were packed and only had the couple of servers. Our drinks were kept full and we enjoyed our conversation until the food came out. While I had regretted not getting an appetizer, I'm glad I didn't because it was a lot of food. I got the steak sandwich with a side salad. The vinagrette for the salad was delicious ! I will go back to try again with my fiancé and get a dessert that I keep hearing about. read more

I made a reservation for two on Thursday in advance for my wife and I. We don't get dates nights very often and we decided on Opals Table. When we arrived they asked us to sit in the downstairs bar, not really what I had in mind, but we thought we will roll with it. Once we get downstairs they sit us in a back dark corners surround by tables of guys drinking beer and a game on the TV. We ended up sitting there for the better part of 10min and no one Greta us or takes our drink order. We saw 5 different serves walk by. We just left and went next door to Cancun where the service is si always great. Do better Opals Table. Read the room and at a minimum try to cover your tables. read more

Very loud environment for the price and quality of food. Many, if not most dishes lean hard on the Southwestern style. Main dIsh was a stir fry type with far too many jalapeños mixed with very dirty tasting green beans(they should have used something other than green beans as they do not compliment the dish). The rice was a bit dry for an Asian fusion dish. Waitress was lack luster and did not even pick up on that the food was not good. The food here is simply put, strange. It is prepared by cooks, not chefs. The restaurant has the acoustics of a major airport restroom: cement, tile, glass, wood, and stainless steel. This was our first visit to Opals and I hate to say it may be the last. We were the first table seated, so it wasn't busy. My salad was covered with enough dressing for 2 salads. My wife had the filet, which was good, but the potato's were cold and they didn't have any steak sauce. I had the crusted chicken and although the chicken was cooked properly, the crust was charred. Wife and I went there over the weekend for our 8 year anniversary. My first time and her third or fourth. Thought it was awesome. Got the corn griddles to start and then the salmon and pecan crusted chicken. Griddled were great just a little burnt for my liking but great flavor. Entrees were awesome but the okra and Brussels sprouts that came with my salmon were amazing. I've tried Brussels sprouts probably a dozen times and never liked them but these were absolutely delicious. I'd go back just from the okra and sprouts. We got the beignets and dulce de ledge lava cake for dessert. Both were great but I was stuffed. I got a few drinks. The birds of paradise drink was great. read more

I splurged and got the rib eye and bacon wrapped lobster with truffle butter. Melts in your mouth. I lost my old Yelp profile. Opals table.... I've gone a couple times since they opened. I have gotten to know the chef not personally but by his food. I have actually been a fan of his food since "hight foods". I like the fact that I get Vietnamese/Mexican twist in his food. Elevating southern classics and a modern American "farm to table" style. I enjoyed that his produce and meats were sourced locally. At least that is the vibe I got then. Last night I went and was completely disappointed that the level of quality has gone down hill. I enjoy the fact that the menu changes. Last time I was there I got crab claws in garlic butter sauce and southern crispy skin chicken. What wonderful dishes they were. Last night I got bacon wrapped shrimp and the chicken stir fry over a bed of steamed rice. I went in with high expectations and was slapped in the face with a stir fry I could have gotten at the imitation sushi bar. I know, I know I'm the one who made the decision to order it. My fault, my point is.. if you want to be different than other places I believe the chef should stick to their believes, and not downgrade to getting your produce straight from the devils garden "SYSCO". I understand that with COVID prices of local produce have sky rocketed. Financially speaking the major companies are cheaper. The service was awesome. We were there early so I wouldn't be able to give a review for a busy time. The food was good, but not overwhelmingly awesome. We asked for melted butter and couldn't get it, but all wasn't lost. Overall acceptable. The biggest problem were the flies. Fantastic restaurant and a great addition to Midland. We arrived a bit before opening but they let us come in and order from the bar even though the bartender was still setting up. He used only fresh ingredients in the cocktails and their wine list was pretty decent. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Our table had crab cakes, crispy Brussels sprouts, fried green tomatoes, chicken fried steak, blackened red fish, shrimp and grits, cauliflower steak. Not a miss in the group. Opal's Table is ok. That's honestly the best I can say about this restaurant. With the high prices, you would expect more. The service is better than Chili's, but it's still not great. I don't understand why they cram so many tables in. We have been 4 times and every time we have been seated at one of two of the same tables and we are only inches from the table next to us--so frustrating! Limited menu with no chicken options. We will probably be back since there are not a lot of options in Midland. I definitely prefer Ousie's Table in Houston. Same prices but quality and service are significantly better. read more

The best steak I've had in Midland. By far . The atmosphere was lovely , definitely felt like I was in another city . One of our fellow diners said they're crispy chicken was slightly over salted .
