I love this place and have been coming here every time I am in Albany Berkeley! Their regular chicken teriyaki is so delicious and large portion which is great! Last night I also tried their regular short rib which was also delicious. This place is fast with limited seating and parking is usually quite easy for us when we went there. I stopped by this place to try it out since I always see people eating outside the restaurant and it looks and smelled delicious. I ordered two crab triangles and two spicy ahi tuna triangles. My favorite was definitely the ahi tuna. It was so flavorful and packed with spices and sauces. The crab was not bad...it was soft and had a mayonnaise like filling. A very trendy shop! We tried the crab filling, salmon filling, chicken teriyaki filling, and the short rib filling. My personal favorite was the short rib; the seasoning was great. The chicken teriyaki could've used more seasoning and kick; the texture was good but it was just pretty plain. For 7, our total was about $25 so I think it was worth it and I'd come here again if I'm ever in town. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I came across this place as I was going to Trader Joe's, and thought I'd grab a quick bite to eat. This place sells onigiri, rice triangles, as well as rice plates and salads. So good for both small bites and lunch/dinner. The restaurant is a Japanese Korean fusion, so the onigiri flavors weren't your traditional fillings. They have some cool flavors though, like shrimp, kimchi, chicken/beef, etc. The interior was really clean, with plenty of space. The employees got to my order pretty quickly, and in general were pretty friendly. I got the short ribs and unagi rice triangles. They were both pretty salty/saucy, so I think getting a blander onigiri, like the plain or ume (plum), might have been a good idea. Overall the meat portion was pretty good. The short ribs were very tender and juicy (pro tip: the short ribs are really saucy and tend to leak, so make sure to eat over your plate lol). The only thing I would say is that the rice and seaweed wrapping is kinda average. There wasn't a lot of rice, the warm rice was kind of gummy so it's like a rice patty, and the steam from the rice left the seaweed wrapper soft and chewy. The seaweed was also surprisingly thick, whereas the onigiri I'm used to is usually thin and crispy. I could see myself stopping by again for a quick bite, but this place wouldn't be a must hit on my list. read more

I love Oori! Their portions are always generous and the food is always tasty. The item I always get is the 3 meat plate with beef, chicken, and spicy shrimp. I did however try two new fillings - the pickled plum and the spicy tofu, both approved and carried a nice flavor. The plum was sour and salty; the tofu had good char, making it feel very hearty. Perhaps if I ever visit again I would get a rice plate instead of a rice triangle so I won't have to deal with going caveman. The tuna onigiri was surprisingly good. I'd say much better quality than many sushi joints, probably because Oori is using the tuna for this specific purpose, and some of the sushi joints use scraps in their spicy tuna. I would come back just to eat this. The chicken was overly greasy though. It was a feeling that sat with me for a little while. read more

I had Oori Rice Triangles bookmarked on Yelp for a while now but I never checked it out til recently! I'm not sure why it took me so long to finally pass by but I'm sure glad I did. I'm all about finding tasty cheap eats and this is just the place! If you're looking for a quick bite I highly recommend this place. As for the food my friend and I ordered the Spare Rib, Crab, and Spicy Pork rice squares. If you order 3 it comes with ginger and edamame. I thought it would come shelled but it came in a small sauce cup kinda bummed about that part. We also got a small spare rib plate. The food was very tasty! I love how simple everything is but yet everything was very flavorful! They have a good variety of options for the rice triangles. The crab was pretty tasty but I think my favorite one was the Spare Rib! The place itself is super small. There are a few tables inside and outdoor seating as well which is nice. Where have you been all my life, edamame with fresh lime juice squeezed on top?!? So quick! Ordered a grilled salmon without teriyaki sauce and an ahi spicy tuna. They cooked the salmon and assembled the spicy tuna and handed it to me within seconds of me finishing the transaction with my card. The spicy tuna was good and spicy! At least when I went. The salmon was also good. Medium sized grilled chunks instead of smaller flaked fish as is traditional. They also give you a way greater topping*-to-rice ratio than I'm used to with authentic Japanese onigiri. Maybe they upped the protein ratio for us gluttonous Americans. Shocked that one Yelper still thought there was too much rice and not enough filling. *(Well, imho they're fillings not toppings cuz they go inside the nori...) I actually like the onigiri at Clover Bakery slightly better because the nori doesn't touch the rice until you eat it, preventing it from getting soggy. But here the toppings/fillings are cooked when you order them so they're technically fresher here. A Sophie's Choice level dilemma (am I allowed to make a joke about a movie/book I've never seen/read?), to be sure. Oddly the edamame was grilled instead of steamed or boiled. This didn't add or detract from the taste much but it never occurred to me to add lime until I got this here and it came with a wedge of lime. Surprisingly brilliant. We beat the rush apparently because while we were sitting the line grew to out the door. But don't be daunted by the line, it's super fast. Update: we've now been here 3x and tried 7 of the 13 different flavors (plus repeats), 14 if you count plain: Good: * Spicy tuna - both our favorite * Salmon - almost as good as home * Short rib - slightly sweet but not overly so Okay: Unagi - good but a little bit too sweet; could've been worse. Also the tofu used to have teriyaki sauce and now is just plain tofu, which I wouldn't pay for. We tried the salmon instead of crab and it had bones and no sauce. I had the spicy pork triangle and the chicken teriyaki triangle. My boyfriend had the grilled salmon triangle and the short rib triangle. Everything was good. It didn't wow us, but it was definitely satisfying, and wasn't too heavy. If you buy three triangles, they give you edamame for free, but the edamame is cold, and they don't give you much if your sharing with someone else. Today, I went for the second time. This time I decided to try something new and ordered a teriyaki chicken rice plate. I loved that there were different sizing options! Regular, small, student/kid sized. I ordered a kid size, which was still a hefty portion, and another salmon triangle. I wasn't a big fan of the chicken teriyaki because it was very dry and pretty plain. There was no sauce or anything on it so it was literally just pan fried chicken over rice.
