GrannyMa's Kitchen - Crispy Fried Chicken dinner with dressing, mac & cheese & cornbread. Chicken is really good.

We get there and there is a cute young girl who greets us with an apron and chef's hat on. She seats us and takes our order - she was our waitress which surprised us. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup to have before my meal. I'm glad I got a cup and not a bowl. The cup was only half full. The soup was lacking flavor so I added pepper. The woman who is GrannyMa delivered the soup. She didn't speak to us or anything the entire time while we were there which didn't feel too nice. They were sold out of the beef liver, beef shortribs and sweet potatoes. We ordered the fried chicken (menu states it takes 20-25 minutes for the chicken) and the salmon croquettes. Each dinner comes with 2 sides each so we got the macaroni and cheese, green beans, dressing and mostaccioli (slight extra charge for the mostaccioli). Fried chicken was crispy and delicious! Seasoned well. The croquettes were good also - they give you two big patties in the dinner. We weren't impressed with the green beans as you can tell they came out of a can. The dressing was only okay. The mac and cheese was pretty good but the best side was the mostaccioli - it had a layer of cheese on top and was really yummy. I wish I had gotten that as a meal, it was that good and highly recommend it. For dessert I got the peach cobbler sundae which is peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top. The cobbler sauce was very thin. I like cobbler that has alot of flaky crust but this didn't have that but it still was good enough to eat the whole thing. The young girl brought us our bill. The prices are so reasonable for what you get. Our bill was only $62 with tax for all of what we had. The place is bright with warm colors inside. We conversated with the son-in-law to GrannyMa's, he was very nice and personable. Although the young girl was sweet, I felt some kind of way of her being our waitress because clearly she is underage to be working. We were told they have a Sunday brunch from 11-3 that includes a DJ. To my friend and I, the food overall was either hit or miss. One review mention about GrannyMa engaging them in conversation - she never came over to our table except to drop off the soup and she is the owner of the restaurant. Not a good way in customer service if you ask me. Overall, okay.

We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night and were able to snag a table in the busy place. We setup in a cozy corner and began looking over the menu. Our waiter stopped by and we immediately knew he was going to be top notch. He was so friendly but very chill and seemed like he was reading our minds when it came to suggestions. After finally deciding, we placed our order and were impressed by the speed at which our food came out! It was fast for a sit-down restaurant! While we devoured our meal, which was INCREDIBLE by the way (I had the meatloaf and it was delicious!), our wonderful waiter continually checked in to see if we needed anything (but not to an annoying level). Then the manager (I think?) stopped by and even the owner (which I found out who he was later) asked how things were. And it wasn't a check-the-box, they were genuinely interested in making sure everything was to our liking. The restaurant/bar-ish is a bit of a mix. It has a bar feel but is right on the cusp of being something more upscale. And they should embrace that because their food and service level support something leveled-up! On the way out I tapped the owner on the shoulder and told him what an amazing time we had - he appreciated it. We'll be back here again, many more times!

I've driven by this place hundreds of times and never noticed it. I'm so glad we got to stop in. The staff was super friendly. It was a slow time, so they let us pick our table and still let us order from the happy hour menu even though we were t sitting at the bar. The potato skins were so yummy! I loved them. We split the smoke meat quartto and had leftovers to take home. What a great combination, we really enjoyed it! The restaurant itself is lovely, with a great looking outdoor space as well. I can't wait to come back and try more of their offerings.

My last visit was when they were still on Old Western Ave in Blue Island--way overdue for a return. Let's start with the food--absolutely delicious. The three of us kicked things off with the Cast Iron Cornbread, and trust me, don't skip it. Perfectly done and a great start to the meal. For mains, we went with the Pitmaster's N'awlins Gumbo, Hickory Buttered BBQ Shrimp, and Burnt Ends. Every dish was spot on--flavorful, well-executed, and clearly made with care. The restaurant itself is pristine--clean, polished, and classy without feeling stuffy. Service was just as strong. Our server, Nick, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Safe to say, it will NOT be another 30 years before my next visit. Highly recommend.

My coworkers and I would go to the old location from time to time. Their new location opened in 2019, but this is the first time that I got to check it out. The restaurant is gorgeous! One thing that I noticed was all staff that I encountered generally looked happy. The host was super friendly and offered vegan or gluten free menus if we needed. The person that seated us also was running food and ensuring tables were kept clean. Since it had been so long since I dined here, the menu appeared smaller. I appreciated that our server Adam explained some of his favorites. The cocktail that I got was excellent. The cornbread appetizer was huge. I went with the gumbo and it was full of meat pieces. It was really flavorful. Adam was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Parking lot is tight, but they also offer valet. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some Louisiana style cusine.

We got hungry and actually picked this place after I used my Yelp! App! This place won after my research. It was everything fellow yelpers said it would be in the virtual world, but it ended up beyond ! The setting , the ambiance, the food, the service (Mrs Tonk) the drinks , the dessert!!?!!?! We are now permanently in their hands as patrons. The deviled eggs! Do it . Even if you're a little bit intimidated by caviar or roe as we were . Worth it and we'd do it again. The Caesar salad ? Amazing ! The baked feta on sourdough crostini ? Omg ! Yes again! The martinis ? Perfectly made . (Especially the after dinner chocolate martini served with cacao beans) The cheesy pasta thing I can't pronounce still ? Even after our amazingly warm and expert server taught us to pronounce. Omg. So good. We can't wait to go back . And if you have room for dessert. That chocolate cake sprinkled with flaked sea salt ... just sealed the deal for us as we told each other " they know what they're doing ". If it's warm enough sit outside in the marina on lake Michigan, if it's cold ? Sit inside, cuz it don't matter... the place is just as gorgeous and perfect as the rest of The experience. Thanks Bentwood! Can't wait To Come back for the other menu items we didn't have room for !
