I typically do not review chain restaurants and I will use a metaphor to kind of explain the why behind the decision. In carnivals or county fairs, there is a revolving shooting gallery game where 2-dimensional ducks continuously rotate on a conveyer belt. Shooting one down means little because it will eventually re-surface, and there are so many plastics ducks that denting one does nothing against the flock. I mean, in order to really make a statement against the flock one would have to use a bazooka or missile launcher to bring a specific duck down. And even though I have had bad experiences with this Ono's link that have resulted in some tummy grumbles, I can forgive because I understand that sometimes I am an unlucky duck that receives the worst of a business day. But this review is not meant to shoot down this place, quite the contrary it is meant to celebrate this place all the ducking way! The fare is Hawaiian inspired, and typically solid. And it can be healthy (grilled chicken) or indulgent (katsu- Asian fried chicken) and even unnecessary in an extra side kind of way (musubi or cream cheese wontons/ragoons). My recommendation is to stick to a combo---- protein, steam greens, side of rice and macaroni salad. I forego the macaroni salad and add a side salad or extra rice, depending on the time of day. All of this to say that this place is a strong conceptual choice for fast food that feels clean and island-like. And now, to the specific reason as to why I Yelp for this place an employee of the joint who goes by the name of Alicia. This place is the move, often a time for me. And I have been to this place so much that Alicia knows my voice and knows my order. It is kind of great to drive, and have someone know your name. Now the Cheers theme song impacts me in a different way. Alicia is friendly, never in a rush, makes me feel like I am the only customer in the world (shout out to Riri) and is attentive to a fault. I think, due to our brief banter the line grew a little bit longer than it should have. But again, Alicia did not make me feel like it was a problem. She made me feel like we were on Island time. She is also a salt to the earth type of person, a down-to- roll, kind of girl because she posed for her moment in the light. Workers like here elevate a fast food choice to a welcomed visit.

First off I wanna start by saying that I usually love this place but unfortunately today I found a bug under my salad, this is absolutely disgusting, after my daughter used the bathroom she said that there was cockroaches in there, this place needs serious fumigation and gassing ASAP. Absolutely disgusting.

What happened, Onos? This used to be the spot for quick take out. It's conveniently located on Gaffey, and it usually has good customer service. However, in the past couple of years, I've consistently waited in line for more than 20 minutes each time (I expect to be in line for 30 minutes whenever I go). And they started charging for bags. The food itself is pretty good, which is why I keep going back despite the wait time.

Mixed plate was decent but the spam musubi was super soggy and a bad ratio Love the portion size but the quality and consistency needs to step up a little (or make the musubis fresh) Medium ono

A Piece of plastic bag.

I got a piece of plastic bag in my food. That's not right. Even with the good food, something not so nutritional would spoil the appetite. I know it's a cheap food but it doesn't have to be disgusti

Update- been having bloating and abdominal pain and and some bathroom related issues after consuming this meal. Downgraded to one star since we are approaching food poisoning territory now. lol. $15 for a lot of rice and lettuce and few slivers of dry beef and chicken. The container felt heavy and like a great meal was about to transpire but what a joke for the price. Will not be returning.

Ono Hawaii has the best crab rangoons I've ever tasted. The food is delicious, the restaurant and restrooms are very clean, and the drive‑thru is fast. Great experience every time--highly recommend!

I am a sucker for poke sold by the pound and this restaurant really delivers. They sell poke bowls…read moreand other things--primarily with a Hawaiian flair--but they also offer about 10 different pokes by the pound, half pound, and even quarter pound. I especially appreciate them selling poke by the quarter pound. Absolutely no one else does that. We tried three different pokes (shoyu, Cali Hawaiian and Garlic Spicy) and they were all delicious. The Cali Hawaiian had krab in it, which was a little unusual but not unwelcome. Definitely ask the employees for recommendations. Free parking in the lot. I would happily return.

Honu Poke & Grill -- Lomita, CA…read more 1824 Lomita Blvd, Lomita, CA Honu Poke & Grill is a small, cozy Hawaiian-style restaurant located in a shopping plaza near the intersection of Western Ave. and Lomita Blvd. PARKING & LOCATION One thing to be mindful of is that the parking lot is currently undergoing renovations. From the looks of it, they may be installing a Tesla charging station in the center of the plaza. Some areas are fenced off, so parking and navigating the lot may be a little inconvenient until construction is completed. ATMOSPHERE & SEATING The restaurant has a small, Hawaiian-inspired interior with tropical decorations. Seating is limited to four tables accommodating four people each and two additional tables seating two people each. There is a self-service water station, but no soda fountain. Also, there are no restrooms available for customers. My biggest complaint about the dining experience was the indoor temperature. I visited during this October heatwave, and even before noon, the restaurant was already uncomfortably warm. With all the fluorescent lighting turned on and the refrigerated poke display cases potentially contributing additional heat, it felt like the temperature continued rising. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was actually sweating while sitting there eating my lunch! Better air conditioning or ventilation would definitely make the dine-in experience much more enjoyable, especially during warmer days. MENU & PRICING They offer a good selection of Hawaiian-style poke, including Hawaiian Shoyu, Hawaiian Limu, California Hawaiian, Spicy Mayo, Spicy Garlic, Salmon Shoyu, Salmon Limu, Salmon Sweet Spicy, Spicy Garlic Salmon, and Salmon Spicy Mayo. Poke bowls range approximately from $14.45 to $15.95, while poke plates range from $15.45 to $16.45. For this visit, I ordered: * Combo Poke Plate -- Hawaiian Shoyu & Hawaiian Limu * Loco Moco -- $15.95 * Hawaiian Sun POG COMBO POKE PLATE -- HAWAIIAN SHOYU & HAWAIIAN LIMU Both selections tasted fresh, which is definitely something I appreciate when eating poke. The Hawaiian Shoyu had a nice flavor, and the Hawaiian Limu was equally fresh-tasting. The plate came with two scoops of white rice topped with furikake seasoning. Overall, I enjoyed both poke selections, and they were a highlight of my meal. LOCO MOCO -- $15.95 Something worth mentioning is that the Loco Moco is made to order, and I was informed there would be approximately a 20-minute wait. So if you're in a hurry, keep that in mind. The Loco Moco comes with two scoops of rice, sunny-side-up eggs, hamburger patties, and a generous amount of brown gravy. The hamburger patties were smaller, almost like mini slider-sized patties. What I appreciated was that they tasted handmade and nicely seasoned rather than like the typical frozen, pre-made patties. The patties were practically swimming in gravy! Now, the gravy itself had good flavor, but the consistency was definitely on the watery side. I'm talking almost soup-like consistency. If you scooped some up with a spoon and tilted it, the gravy would immediately run right off. Personally, I prefer my Loco Moco gravy to be a little thicker, with enough consistency to coat the hamburger patties and rice rather than just pooling around everything. That being said, the flavor was there, so it wasn't necessarily a bad gravy, just not my preferred consistency. The rice was good, and so were the sunny-side-up eggs. However, the eggs were cooked a little longer than I personally prefer. The yolks were approximately half solid and half runny. When I order sunny-side-up eggs, I like the yolks nice and runny so I can break them and mix everything together with the rice, hamburger patties, and gravy. Still enjoyable, but a slightly runnier yolk would have made it better for me. OVERALL EXPERIENCE Honu Poke & Grill offers a nice variety of Hawaiian-style poke along with other local favorites such as Loco Moco. The Hawaiian Shoyu and Hawaiian Limu poke tasted fresh, and I appreciated the homemade taste and seasoning of the Loco Moco patties. The gravy had good flavor despite being thinner than I prefer, and the eggs were just slightly overcooked for my liking. My biggest issue wasn't necessarily the food but the dining environment. Sitting inside a restaurant sweating while trying to enjoy lunch isn't exactly a comfortable experience. The lack of a customer restroom is another inconvenience worth mentioning. Would I come back? I would consider returning for the poke, but on another hot day, I'd probably opt for takeout rather than dining inside. Good food overall, with some room for improvement, especially when it comes to indoor comfort.

A flavorful fusion of Cajun and Cambodian food that feels like a home cooked meal!…read more The grilled beef sticks were the highlight for me, the meat was juicy and had a strong lemongrass flavor. The pickled daikon and carrots also cut through the richness of the meat. We also got the spicy Cajun bag, which had a good amount of seafood and was easily splittable between two people. The seafood tasted fresh, and the sauce was very flavorful! The Thai tea was also creamy and refreshing, perfect for fighting the heat of the seafood. There is no bathroom, but the staff was also super nice and let us wash our hands in the sink behind the register. The spot is pretty small, with a few tables inside. I added 5 more sausages ($1/each), 2 more muscles ($1/each), 1lb of shrimp ($14 extra), and a soda can ($2)... $64 after taxes. Food arrives and we're given a pair of cafeteria lady plastic gloves, 2 of the thinnest papper plates imaginable and about 7 napkins. Theres no covers on the bench so I slice our bag open to where we can grab the food but not spill out on the table. Food gymnastics! When we finish eating we ask for wet naps to clean our hands and they dont have any, restroom? Nope, no public restroom. Were told we can come into the kitchen and wash our hands of we like.... thanks but no thanks. Thr girl still the register was super friendly though, so she got them an extra star in my review. The food: I dont know if im spoiled by other places, but it could also be that this isnt specifically a sea food boil place. Its a Asian fusion location with an option of a seafood boil bag, but i come to expect a bit more out of the sauce option. Like the sauce that was in the bag was just enough to coat the food and that's it. I seen like a couple sliced garlic pieces but really? Like 6 or 7 slices? Then the sausages.... theyre store bought hilshire farms sausages... and to charge $1 A SLICE IS DIABOLICAL! The clams were chewy, the shrimp was mushy... im forever now gonna take that 30 minte drive to anywhere for seafood boil. I really wanted to like this place, I really did... but im sorry, I just cant do a boil from here again.

We could then have decided whether we wanted to order at all. What was most disappointing, however, was the attitude of the employees on duty. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled left us with a very negative impression of the restaurant and its customer service. This is part of a cloud kitchen that is poorly maintained. There is not even one person attending so if there are any issues, you are on your own. I tried calling the phone number but no one answered. I even tried texting the restaurant. Uber support did not help either. The instructions given for pick up from the restaurant via uber were poor so guidance is necessary. There are men loitering around the lobby that do not work there. The confusion regarding their purpose and intentions did make me feel a bit unsafe. It was probably not their intention but going into a tight alley, not knowing what to do, with no one that can help you and then running into a group of men would make anyone a bit concerned. Finally after figuring out how to check in, the order was not even ready even though the estimate already said it was ready. It seems like the order didn't get started until I checked in. So, I had to wait longer for my order, which again is an issue due to the loitering. There is also no parking near the lobby so it is a terrible place and area to be waiting. Not only are those men loitering but there are other drivers loitering in their cars in the alley for orders so it is hard to drive through. Having the cloud kitchen staff at least one person would help and/or a security guard to keep the alley and lobby clear could significantly help all businesses operating out of there. Although this is mainly an issue with the cloud kitchen itself, it is something that this particular restaurant can work on. Had the instructions been clear via the app, I would not have this issue. Additionally, they could have answered the phone or texted back, but did not.

When I went to get a burrito, that's when I was made aware they had already ran out of the tortillas, this was about 15 to 20 mins into serving time. My husband wasn't happy to hear this so he took it upon himself to go and buy more tortillas in order to make more of these burritos. I started hearing about it a long time ago and kept thinking I'd go check it out, and then it got relocated to the parking lot. I still wanted to go since I love seafood, and I had thought about making the drive down there and having a solo adventure. I happened to be just a few minutes around the corner for business and decided today was finally the day to grab lunch. It was Wednesday at noon and I didn't even think the place was open. It's totally dead. There were signs of churros and ice cream and stuff that's probably sold at night or on the weekends, but it's really just the one restaurant called The fish market that's open. I assumed that the menu would be incredible - full of local fresh caught fish and seafood. It wasn't quite as exciting as I had hoped. Since most of the hype around this place seems to have to do with their gigantic shrimp tray I decided to try the shrimp tacos. I was disappointed to find a taco filled with small flavorless shrimp. I could only taste the chipotle mayonnaise. They didn't seem fresh, I'd be willing to bet they came out of a freezer bag. By the time I paid for parking, a drink and two tacos with a small handful of chips I was out like $25. The area was pretty cool, right on the waterfront. It looks like it probably gets crazy on the weekends and I'm sure people come here mostly for the environment and to drink. Overall I was very disappointed. I would rather go to the fisherman's outlet downtown and get incredible huge pieces of fresh fish and shrimp. To be honest I wouldn't even come back here if I was right down the street. I'd look for someplace that is really all about fish, not just a spot to buy overpriced beer on the waterfront.
