I don't like to leave negative reviews. As a yelp elite I like to promote businesses but today I had a couple hairs in my food. See pic. I took my order to go so I didn't see it until I was home. Also, I've been coming here for a couple years and the employees tend to lean on the rude side. I asked about a meal deal wanted to pay the traditional way, and the employee barked at me that it was an online deal only and if I'm paying with card to order on the kiosk. I don't mind using the kiosk but the tone was very condescending. Then when I got my order and asked for tartar sauce the other employee handed it to me silently, I said thanks, he couldn't even say you're welcome or have a nice day. They should really step up their customer service skills and not be so stingy with the tartar sauce. It should be included with every seafood meal or have a pump at the drink station like the teriyaki sauce. Just weird vibes here. I probably will use a different location from now on. read more

Usually I find the workers at Ono to be super friendly and nice, but the experience I had tonight was kind of an aberration. Yes, I arrived 50 minutes before they were closing, but it certainly didn't warrant being treated like I had wrecked wedding plans. First off, the first was good as usual. I was in the mood for shrimp and Ono is pretty reliable at making an inexpensive breaded shrimp entree. The BBQ chicken was fairly delicious. Ono making inedible food is never the problem. They consistently rock everything they offer on their menu. As some of you know, it's a pet peeve of mine when I call special attention to eating it there as opposed to getting it to go. I like taking my time--still being respectful if they're closing--to eat my meals while the food is piping hot, while I have access to refills if I need it, and while I still have the ability to order more while I'm there if I'm still hungry. I hate when food joints place everything in containers and bag it all up, trying to kick you out the door. It ruins the ambience of meals being a time to relax and recalibrate. Not to mention I appreciate the opportunity to take pictures for Yelp on a plate or platter while the food is looking particularly photogenic. I can forgive a place if they no longer use real plates or platters, opting for a container. But I despise having to remove my food from a plastic bag that I don't need and then becomes a thing that goes into the trash because it's now used. So it was that I asked for a tray so I could take my dinner to a table. Instead of giving me one though, the worker looked like she wanted to tell me no, that eating in-house wasn't allowed. She turned to her co-worker saying, this guy wants tray. The second worker then asked me, "Do you really need a tray?" I'm pretty sure that's not up to the worker to decide if I require a tray. That's purely a decision on whether my current food load, condiments, sauces, and utensils warrant having a medium by which to ferry all of it to my table. After assuring her that, yes, indeed, I needed a tray, she finally handed one over. After that, maybe it was part of their closing duties, but they constantly had one worker sweeping the floor, wiping the tables, pushing the chairs in, &c... while I was trying to eat. It was one step away from being surveilled during my meal. Perhaps they thought they could catch me underutilizing said tray to get a picture for a gotcha moment. Or maybe they just generally dislike when customers use trays. I don't know. All I know is it gave the whole meal a feeling of being on the clock, having such helicopter tactics utilized against me. It tainted the whole meal. I hate having people moving around me when I'm trying to eat, but it's especially unnerving when it feels targeted to make me uncomfortable. That's some passive aggressive silliness. As aforementioned, the food was still delectable. You really can't go wrong with Hawaiian food when you're in a certain mood--shrimp or otherwise. But I don't know how often I'll be coming to this location if this retaliatory behavior is what I can expect when I humbly give directions to eat my food there and utilize one of their most sacred trays. read more

Pro Tip- Take home one or three plastic vials of OHB's wondrous Katsu Sauce. Bathe your steamed rice and grilled meats with it. You'll thank me later. In Japanese culture, Katsu Sauce is used primarily with Tonkatsu meats, meaning proteins that have been dredge in panko then fried. It's typically made of equal parts of brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. The restrooms were clean and stocked. I really don't like that they couldn't just modify my plate to all veggies after I ordered on UberEats. It had only been two minutes since I placed the online order and she said it was already done, so she couldn't tell the cooks to remove the rice/mac. Super rude too, told me I could cancel on UberEats if I wanted to. Ono is the only restaurant chain that doesn't allow any modifications on third party delivery apps. read more

When I ordered, the cashier asked if a to-go order was fine. I said yes but asked if I could still eat there and promised to be quick. She hesitated but eventually agreed, saying they close by 9. I thanked her and noticed there were other people eating there. It was 8:35 pm. Hey, if there's a rule against dining in after 8:30 pm, please let me know. I didn't want to be an inconvenience, so I ate on the patio because it seemed like the staff wanted to close up quickly. I had never been to Ono Hawaiin BBQ but I tried it for the first time with my family. My daughter and I shared the Spam Masubi two-piece appetizer, and the chicken plate with rice and macaroni salad. There was so much food, we shared and it was definitely enough! It was all very delicious. The service was fine, it wasn't as warm as I would have liked, but I got everything I asked for. We ate in the restaurant and it was clean and quiet. I'd recommend Ono if you enjoy Hawaiin BBQ! read more

This store was clean and the customer service ok! They are very busy since the promotion. They have a good size indoor seating. Still you have to wait a little since they cook your food to order. No coupon needed for the especial just walk in and order or order online. One per day per customer or per store. I had to wait quite a bit that is why downgraded one star. I ordered their two-entree "Aloha" plate to go. However, I only got one item. The food itself--the grilled lemon pepper chicken--was good. It seemed pretty healthy for a fast food restaurant, but didn't sacrifice on the flavor. Getting the order wrong is not a big deal. It happens. However, because it was a to-go order, I didn't notice the missing second entree until I got home, and it was too much hassle to go back. The bigger deal is that I contacted Ono's customer service the same day (Saturday). Six days later (Thursday), I still haven't received any response. That reflects badly on the restaurant and suggests they really don't care that much if customers have a bad experience. Thus, the reason for my three-star review is poor customer service. If I was rating purely on the food, I might give 4 or 5 stars. My suggestion is to make sure to check your order before leaving the store if you ask for take out. read more

Stopped by for lunch togo while shopping over the weekend. It's completely togo and delivery only per covid protocols. There is a line to order then you wait either outside, or between the tables that are separated per social distancing like almost 10ft apart. Note there are no refills on drinks at the soda machine since you cannot eat indoors. There is a sign saying no refills. The wait is pretty long even during off hours. I came around 2pm and didn't get my order until about 2:30pm with two people ahead of me and one door dash order. So yeah be prepared to wait and not be in a rush to go anywhere. I got my usual #4 Hawaiian BBQ mixed combo that includes: BBQ Chicken, BBQ Beef & Kalbi Short Ribs two scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. The portion size is plenty for two people to share or for leftovers. You can also get the plates which include one or two items for more of a "lunch special". Overall was an OK experience. I've visited other Ono locations regularly and typically pretty fast. Food quality is on par so no complaints there. One of my favorite Hawaiian bbq places. Their Spam Musubi is always fresh and delicious! Plus the employees are always kind and polite. I am always greeted and thanked. They are also one of the best businesses in Pomona when it comes to COVID sanitation. That always change their gloves. Stations are always clean and the store always smells sanitized without smelling like bleach. They can get crazy busy from around 5:00 to 7:30. So the wait can be pretty long, but I always see them busting their butts and working fast. I recommend coming in for late lunch. read more

We wanted to get something to eat as it was too late to cook at home, and we looked around for places and decided to try Ono Hawaiian BBQ. We ordered the Teriyaki chicken plate and a plate that had teriyaki and fried chicken. We were very disappointed. For $25, you get two small portions of chicken, a mound of rice, and something else soaked in something. It was not recognizable. The regular chicken was fine, but the lack of chicken was disappointing. The fried chicken tasted as it had been sitting out for some time, reheated, and dumped on the to-go plate. That wasn't very pleasant. It would not have been edible if it was not for the extra sauce poured on all. But the sauce is quite good. It saves the dish enormously. Unfortunately, the bang for the buck and quality of the food will keep us away. The QC could be significantly improved, and the price is out of line for what you get. I should have gone to Panda, which was my first choice. At least I know what I'm getting and paying for at Panda and do not feel as if I was fleeced. read more

Great place! I love how their portions are fairly big. The Fried Fish that I ordered was moist and cooked well throughout. With the whole plate, in general, was really good and I ended up finishing everything to the last morsel of rice. Being that the current state of the world has put dining-in on hold, I can't really speak for the dine-in experience here. Regardless, I liked the food and how fast it seemed to come to my door. Its also right next to a yogurt land, so hop next door for the desserts after. The quality of this place does not go lower than their standard. Its great, and the prices are always on par with their quality. It is a bit pricey, but for the type of food, it is typically around this range. They also give a lot of food for the combo. COVID BEWARE!! I normally buy Hawaiian food at Wok and Grill in Chino but decided to try this Ono Hawaiian. The post on the door said "MASK REQUIRED TO GO IN" Let me tell you ..... cook has mask on but his nose is not covered, female worker just walk around inside the restaurant without mask. I told the cashier that "hey the cook's mask is not covering his nose." The cashier said, "he is making your food, do you want me to tell him to cover his nose." Are these people on crack? Cashier has to ask the cook yet to cover his nose???? The food was put in container like a scrap food to be fed to pigs. I can tell the bbq and katsu were just heated up. I will never go back to this restaurant because 1. the staff puts customers at risk for COVID19 2. food is not made to order but rather precooked and heated What a disappointment.
