When you walk in, there are plenty of seats for dining, plus little bar seating if you don't want to sit at a full table or you're dining alone. We were greeted by friendly staff who brought us water and menus, and we ended up ordering: White Peach Yuki Nigori Mixed Tempura Spider Roll 49ers Roll Lion King Roll Small Miso Soup Everything was delicious, and my total came out to $83.48 before tip, which I think is a great price considering the portions and being in the city! Overall, we had a really nice experience and I'd definitely come back for another sushi date! p.s (photos included may be a little blurry since it was from a food review video that I made)

Wow! Chacho Sushi totally exceeded my expectations with their fully cooked sushi platter tray!…read more We ordered from their online website for pickup, and when we got there at our estimated pick up time, they were busy with a full house! It was good vibes and a nice comfortable neighborhood spot for families friends, or date night. Since our order wasn't ready, the waitress offered us hot tea and a seat at the bar while we waited. All of their sashimi at the bar looked fresh and areas were clean and organized. For the platter, we ordered the I.Special Hot Roll Tray. Sushi rice was all well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Flavors were all great, and all rolls were a little bit different that offered variety. Things I usually get weary about for new Sushi spots, is fishyness or deep fried/cooked rolls coming out super dry and hard. All of the rolls were great and exceeded my expectations including the price point considering the type and # of rolls we got. Friendly staff and worth a visit!

One of my favorite and unique places in SF. My favorite dish is the bunny ramen (vegan). The menu…read morehas tons of options and might appear overwhelming but ramens are to die for! If you are feeling adventurous there are so many interesting choices. They have super fun drinks, the pineapple beer is my husband's favorite and I love the lychee mojito. Highly recommend for a unique flavor experience! FYI: reservations can be made by phone but with 24-48 hour notice. It's a small place and I have never had issues getting a table for two during busy hours, but a reservation cannot hurt! They also have a cool little large dinner area that can be requested for a little birthday party of 4-6

Overall good time, good food, nice decor…read more I have heard of this place and finally had a chance to check it out. I stopped by here on a Saturday around 7 and it was packed but the wait wasn't too long yet thankfully. The menu had a nice assortment of appetizers, skewers, ramen, and an extensive drinks menu. For two people, we tried the corn ribs, black tofu, 7 course skewer set and the duck duck udon carbonara. I wasn't too hungry so there was a bit of food leftover. The corn ribs were very flavorful and perfectly done. The udon was a bit too spicy for my liking but still very creamy. I enjoyed the duck but my friend said it was too fatty. All of the skewers were cooked well and I liked the shrimp the most. At the end, we were given a free hojicha panna cotta with fruit and that was a really pleasant addition. The staff was nice and the decor with the lanterns and art made me feel like I was in Japan. The music was also an interesting mix of Asian songs. Would come back to try other things or the drinks!

We've had Taishoken in San Mateo before -- this time it was the San Francisco location. We ordered…read morethe Karaage, the Tokusei Tsukemen with the Extreme Chashu topping, and the Shio Chukasoba. Karaage: Crispy, not greasy at all, and the pieces are big. Very satisfying. 5/5 Tokusei Tsukemen: The dipping broth is just like San Mateo's -- rich and fragrant, and the yuzu's fresh aroma and slight bitterness fit it perfectly. Their chashu is cut thick, which as a meat lover I really appreciate. Of the Extreme Chashu add-ons, the grilled chicken chashu was the best of the bunch -- incredibly tender. 5/5 Shio Chukasoba: The grilled chicken thigh in it was very tender too. The broth is rich, though a touch on the salty side -- not one you'd drink straight on its own. 4/5 Overall: 5 stars.

LOVE in a bowl, their ramen is so delicious, it's a WORK OF ART!…read more You must have the limited shio chuka soba -- it's so unique, the golden broth is embued with deep chicken flavor but still light. Every component adds to the entire bowl. Definitely think this should be eaten before the other heavier flavored ramen. It reminds me of a similar Michelin star chicken ramen in Japan. The eggplant appetizer is a great starter, ponzo sauce is perfectly umami and lightly sweet. So good, I drink it all! The tofu was also nice and well flavored. Very highly recommend Taishoken SF! Compliments to the chef, manager, and staff! PLEASE PLEASE COME TO SOCAL!

I've only had the pleasure of trying Amami through takeout, but WOW. Sooooooooo good…read more The value is great for what you get. Both times I've had - I got the daily omakase special for about $40. The pieces of fish are HUGE (this is a two-biter for me), the rice portion is great, and the selection has such a nice variety. It's a really satisfying assortment, and I always look forward to eating it. Always fresh and delicious. It reminds me that omakase doesn't have to be hundreds of dollars. I haven't experienced the dine-in side yet, so I can't speak to the ambiance or service, but I'm definitely making an effort to visit in person one day. If their takeout omakase is already this good, I'm excited to see what the full experience is like! My picture doesn't do it justice - probably shifted around in transport and of course...I was a bit too excited to eat and my camera decided to be blurry. I'll redeem myself.

We sat down anyways but it wasn't an hour wait. We ordered a variety of food for 6 adults. Tofu, fried gyoza, 3 rolls, the sushi lovers boat and deluxe sashimi. We ordered chicken kaarage but they got our order wrong and gave us a chopped up chicken katsu which didn't look appetizing for Katsu. Everything else was delicious. There were a ton of door dash people waiting to pick up their orders which were delayed. They were all waiting by the sushi bar. They were so busy they did not give us our miso soup that came with the katsu dinner.
