Rating the double cheese burger and fries I give it a 3.5/5. I like crinkle cut fries and these were crisp and soft on the inside. The burgers were as expected with a nice sear on the outside and American cheese. It fit well with the bun but the blend of condiments was a little overpowering in the center portion of the patties. My was the "Old John" style. Not a fan of the impersonal service nor the structure housing a few different establishments. A good burger but not good enough overall to bring me back.

Good, but nothing out of this world. A pretty straightforward smash burger with cheese covered crinkle fries. I found it quite similar to Shake Shack. Staff was friendly. This is one of the stations inside the Test Kitchen.

Today was an unusually warm day in Indianapolis so naturally, I had to get outside and enjoy some much-needed vitamin D. I decided to stay close to home and make my way up to the yard in fishers. I met a friend and we decided to go to the test kitchen, which is a great concept because it has different choices. I was craving a burger so I decided to go to one trick pony, they have a select menu, and it all sounds amazing. I decided on the wiz bang burger that has pickled jalapeños and caramelized onions, and cheese. It was so tasty! I enjoyed every bite. I also got a side of fries that were crisp, tasty and and had just the right amount of salt. Of course I had to get some ketchup and cheese sauce. All so tasty! Check this place out! Tasty and reasonably priced!

I was looking forward to trying the smash burgers at One Trick Pony, located in Fisher's Test Kitchen. All the photos online made them look like things of beauty, with a thin frilly layer of caramelized meat on the outside encased in a fluffy bun. The Oklahoma Onion Burger seemed by the far the most interesting after reading about it. Apparently this burger originated in Oklahoma during the Great Depression, when the addition of onions to the burger meant that less meat would be used in the patty. I'm not sure what happened, but unfortunately the burger I received fell short of expectations. Oklahoma Onion Burger ($8.50) - The photo on the menu showed a veritable stack of onions atop the patty and a beef patty so large it was overflowing the bun. I ordered this with some additional tomato, lettuce, and extra onions. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the result. The beef patty was smashed super thin, but there wasn't that promised crispy skirt of meatiness around the burger and it wasn't nearly as large as the pictures indicated. The beef flavor itself was overwhelmed by the copious amounts of mustard slathered on both the top and bottom buns. The oniony-ness was also rather lacking; while there was charred onion as well as raw onion on top and bottom of the burger, it was hard to discern the flavor behind all of the mustard. Complementing the burger was a good slice of tomato and a helping of shredded lettuce, along with some vinegary pickle slices. There was a sad slice of unmelted American cheese on top of the burger patty and keeping everything together was a nicely toasted, but unremarkable bun. I'm not entirely sure what went wrong - perhaps my expectations were just a bit too high given how good the photo looked? It's unlikely, but if I ever went to One Trick Pony again, I would also get more than one burger patty. They are pounded so thin that a single patty isn't substantial enough. Overall, I think the burger here was just okay.

This place is located in the Fisher's Test Kitchen. You can also get to it through the Sun King Brewery. The Test Kitchen consist of three restaurants, one of which is the One Trick Pony. This restaurant's one trick is burgers, which they have a few exotic choices of. They also have fries, onion rings and other sides. The place was very clean and orderly. There is indoor seating and a very nice outdoor patio that has music playing out there. I am not sure who owns the seating, whether it is Sun Kings, or the Test Kitchen. I believe that it is shared. But when you do sit down and eat, a waiter/waitress from Sun King will come out and ask if you want anything. For me that was a bonus, I got one of their frozen drinks to wash down my meal. But for those of you that are not drinking, it may be a bit awkward. They do have non-alcoholic drinks I got a little crazy and ordered the Whiz Bang Burger with two patties and had them add some bacon to it. I ordered a side of fries for good measure. The food was delicious. I really liked the burger. It is smash burger type and decent sized. Very top notch. It was extremely flavorful and filling. This is a wonderful addition to a trendy section of Fishers. It is a semi-fast food joint that is available for dine in or carry out. If you are looking for a good burger, look no further. This is the spot.

I've been dying to try this place. It's one of the new restaurants at the Fishers Yard in with Sun King. I saw on their Instagram page they were running a special on Thursday's, a single burger and fry for $6.00 so I finally made it there last night and it definitely did not disappoint. I ordered my single patty with cheese, shredduce, tomato, pickles, mustard, and ketchup. All the vegetables were crisp and fresh, loved the pickles they are thick and they put several on my burger. Also love that the lettuce is shredded (hence the word shredduce). If I had to do it over again I think I would order a double though because the patties are thin, go with the less is more on a single. But don't let the thin patty fool you it's full of flavor! The fries were absolutely amazing as well! Hot and crunchy! Everything is made to order so it's all hot and fresh. Definitely recommend OTP if you've got that " I just need a good cheeseburger and fry craving"

One Trick Pony was a hit for us during a recent grab and go experience at the Fishers Test Kitchen. It had been a bit since our last visit so we decided to make the trek to check out the latest addition along with Lil' Dumplings temporary winter ramen menu. Note that carryout is fairly easy here but that they also have plentiful outdoor (summery spaced out) seating available. The "no frills" double smash burger topped with lettuce, onions and cheese knocked out socks off. From the crispy edges of the burger to the juicy center and flavorful onions, we savored every bite. Next time we'll have to try the cheesy fries or loaded onion rings. The menu is limited for a reason- but fret not, you don't need any other options Congrats, Neal and OTP team. Looking forward to our next visit.

I took one bite into my cheesy fries and was awakened to the fact that I've truly never had crispy fries before until the ones I got here. The crinkly fries were so perfectly crispy, hot and tasty that I really felt like I had a fry awakening. You can choose fries or onion rings, then have them cheesy style (cheese on top), three-way (cheese, chili, roasted chiles), four-way (cheese, chili, roasted chiles, sour cream) or oui oui (garlic French onion gravy). I also got a single stack burger, NJB style (mustard, pickle, onion, shrettuce, American cheese). All of their burgers are diner-style smash burgers and you can get anywhere from one to three patties. You can then get those roadhouse style (with American cheese), old John style (shrettuce, pickle, onion, tomato, mustard, Mayo, American cheese), dandy (shrettuce, onion, pickle, tomato, American cheese, rempujase) or the NJB style, mentioned above. Soooo delicious! Shout out to local chef Neal Brown for crushing another local foodie endeavor. Located in the Fishers Test Kitchen in Sun Kung, it's a fun environment and great spot to try a new food. There is hand sanitizer everywhere and you'll go up to the counter, order, get a buzzer, and then pick up your food yourself when it's ready. Enjoy!

Burgers were great, I love smash burgers! The fries and onion rings were ok but it's fine that's not what we came for.

I don't know what the hell is going on with the crunchy edges of the beef patties, but I like it a lot. It's crunchy like a perfect piece of crisp bacon, or a lacy fringe of spilled cheese fried until brown. I really like thin, smashed burgers - and OTP has this part nailed. The burger was a little small for $9 (double patty), but the flavor and novel crunchiness of the patties made it feel like a fair trade. Next time I'll try the single patty to see if it's worth an extra $4 for one patty. Definitely coming back when I'm feeling like a splurge. Important note: the menu is very simple as far as burger options, but I asked for caramelized onions instead of raw and they accommodated the request at no extra charge. So they may have more options than what is listed, you just have to ask to find out. The guy behind the counter was friendly, brownie points!

Burger was delish. Fries were mediocre. Service was nonexistent. The fact that they had computerized ordering meant you never got to talk to a human being and that gave the workers the excuse to not even acknowledge you either. We were never notified our order was ready. Yes we were looking to be safe too. Went up to get the order and no humans in sight. Computerized ordering doesn't let you customize much or order sauces. Disappointed. But three stars cuz the burger was pretty good.

    Dandy burger with cheese fries
    Molly Z.

My husband and I really enjoyed the burgers here. I had the single dandy burger. The patty was thin and crisp and the dandy sauce had a little bit of tang. The cheese on the cheese fries was also delicious. It was warm and very flavorful. My husband got the burger with melted cheese and fried jalapeños. I tried a bite and it was very good. We'll be back so we can try more burgers on the menu!

Love this place! Such a great addition to the Fishers Test Kitchen that brings the best smash burgers I've ever had! First time I visited I ordered a single patty with shreduce, pickles, cheese and dandy sauce and it was delicious! I'm a sucker for some crinkle cut fries and these were fried to my liking with an extra crunch! All burgers are customizable to your liking and you can have up to 3 smash burger patties per sandwich. For St. Patty's week they brought in a Reuben twist. I ordered it with a single burger and all the toppings and I think I ate it all in like 2 bites? If you haven't tried OTP yet, this is your time to go and try this new "burger" before it leaves after this weekend. They also just opened up a second location in the sun king in Broad Ripple so if you're looking for something a little more south check out the new location. What's better than a tasty burger and ice cold beer? All food in the test kitchen is a self serve and then a sun king server takes all the drink orders!!

Ambience: They're in a relatively small space. It's a burger bar, so it is what it is, but at least the building is in a nice place in Carmel. Service: You order at the counter/register, and they bring the food to your table. Service was prompt. Those three categories were all good, but I think this was just a case where the whole seemed less than the sum of its parts. They do appear to offer boxes of sliders as a take-out item, so I may try that in the future.

The food is solid and consistent. The fries came out hot and crispy, and the sandwich was fresh with a good balance of flavors. Everything tasted like it was made with care, not rushed. The cheese burger is delicious, plenty of topping and condiments, you're going to need more napkins than you think. Chicago dog is fabulous. We tried some of the new sauces; ranch, comeback, and bbq this time, and we like all three. These package of sauces are very generous. The chocolate cake shake is AMAZINGLY good! Employees were friendly, order was ready in a timely manner and correct. I lived in Springfield, OH for many years this Portillo's had Woebler's mustard packs, which are made in Springfield, yummy mustard my favorite is the sweet and spicy.
