We had our anniversary dinner here last night and it was superb. Our reservation was for 6:30 and, when we arrived, our table was set and ready to go, including water. A selection of breads was brought out and they were all very good. We had the crabcakes as an appetizer and they were as good as I've ever had - including some I had in Alaska last month. We both had the house salad and it was very tasty. The sugared or candied pecans were the highlight of the salad for us. The dressing was a little too tart to our liking, but not bad. I ordered the roasted baby vegetables and the crab stuffed steak. My husband ordered a fully loaded baked potato and a filet. The baby vegetables were truly baby vegetables and beautifully prepared. The steak and crab was to die for. Very, very tender and flavorful. My husband's was also tender, but, after having a taste of mine, he admitted mine was more tender. When time for dessert came, our waitress brought us a creme brulee to share in honor of our anniversary. Made in-house, it was scrumptious and certainly a wonderful gesture on behalf of 135 Prime. As you can tell, we enjoyed our dinner immensely, the food exceeded our expections and we will go back. read more

Of course it is expensive. It's fine dining. It is fine dining done very well however. The restaurant itself is intimate and well done. They have a large patio with soft lighting that is perfect for groups or sipping cocktails. Service is prompt and the menu was well done. There is a large selection to please many tastes. I think this is, by far, the best fine dining restaurant in the area. Tonight I had the steak and seafood combo. The filet was a perfect Pittsburg and the seafood skewer was not overcooked, which can be a challenge. There was a smoked prime rib special which Thomas, our server was kind enough to show us before my husband ordered it. My husband's prime rib was phenomenal. Thomas was a fantastic server and we had a great time chatting with him throughout our meal. All in all, a wonderful experience. read more

Definitely not worth the price. Atmosphere - The lighting was so dim it was difficult to see what was being served; Service - the server needs to go back to waitress-college and learn proper fine-dining etiquette. If I'm paying $80 an entree, I expect fine-dining service... serve from the left, remove from the right, it's not that difficult! Also, when removing plates for the next course, you don't have to take each and every utensil, especially if you don't plan on replacing it. Food - The chateaubriand came out cooked Med-Well, not Rare as requested, we had to request fresh ground pepper for our salads, then it took almost 5 minutes for the waitress to locate a peppermill; and the final coup de grace was when I got the bill and noticed that they charged $10 extra per ceasar salad to pay for the anchovies! Next time I'll save the $700 and go to Outback instead. read more

I have been back and this time enjoyed some wonderful Spicy tuna rolls, here they are actually spicy, unlike many others I have had.

What can I say great steaks and great service. I had the strip and my wife had the filet. The strip was moist and tender cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes might be best ever. For a great beef meal I would recommend. Only downside is they nickel and dime you. $3. to add anchovies to my salad. We had drinks sides and steaks AND $3 for anchovies to a $7 salad. Not upscale. Good wine list although atad expensive for the product. 2014 Lohr Cab Hillside vineyard was $54. It's around 24 at a wholesale store. There was wine by the glass too. The specials were over the top with excellent choices of seafood (oysters, lobster) and the starters and salads were very good too, calamari, crab cakes and these prices were medium. The escargot was OK but served in dish altogether rather than in shells. The atmosphere in the large room is excellent, so you may want to be sure you're not seated by the bar or near the front door. The steaks were pricey but worth it. They were very very good. Our waiter Tim was new in town from Florida, and he was terrific. Second visit to 135 Prime, first was ok-nothing special. We went for my birthday. My wife ordered the small filet, lobster bisque and asparagus. I ordered the large ribeye, salad, vegetable medly. Her steak was good, the asparagus ok, and the bisque was bland. My salad was great, the highlight of the meal. The medley was bland and the steak was as tough as rubber. For a place that boasts about their "signature steaks" should find another butcher or supplier. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said he would talk to the chef. He came back and apologized, and said they would comp me desert. Sorry but if I drop $135.00 on a meal and it is sub-par, I dont want to be comped a desert. How about a gift card to get me back in the door ???? The waiter did come back when my wife had finished eating and I had finished my vegetables (could not eat the steak) and asked if I would like another steak cooked ????. Kinda late on that deal. All this going on and not once did the manager come over and apologize, never heard a word. Maybe he/she was off. Oh and we had reservations for 6pm on a saturday night (the 31st). I am not sure why, because the place was barely 30 percent full, and by the time we left, maybe 40 percent full. Next time I want to spend some hard earned dollars on a good meal, I think I will try Diamondbacks, cant be any worse. read more

My son and daughter-in-law had a small intimate wedding reception and everything was perfect. The table setting all the way through to the service was top rating. Glenn the chef came out personally and met with our table and greeted us all and assisted with the cutting of the wedding cake. The steak melted in my mouth and was cooked to perfection. Loved to know that Waco has a nice steakhouse. We were immediately seated and were greeted with our very nice and attentive waiter whose last name was Turner. He was very personable and made us feel right at home. We started with the calamari which was very good. I had the signature salad which was very good and my husband had the wedge which he enjoyed as well. I had the 135 medallions which were incredible! Very tender and cooked to perfection. I consider myself and steak snob and there is only one other restaurant that tops this one. This will be one of our go to restaurants when we visit our daughter at Baylor. read more

I made a reservation for May 11th in early March. Well fast forward... i needed to add to my party size by 4 people.Mind you it was over 20 days out from the proposed date. I called the restaurant and was told that they couldnt because it being such a busy date. Being that I didnt speak to a manager and just a hostess- i decided to send an email after her response. I also needed to ask some additional questions. No one responded. I decided to get accommodations elsewhere in meanwhile. So i call back on Monday because I wanted to cancel the reservations since I was being courteous and the credit card hold needed to be removed as well. A young man answers the phone and asks my name. I give it to him. I ask to speak with a manager. He puts me on hold or so he thinks.. i can hear telling the manager my name and etc. She starts off... "yea the girls already told her...i havent replied to the email." It was her tone of her voice that made me realize that I was thankful that i went on and made other arrangements. I begin to tell her the slight backstory eventhough i know she was familiar already. She breathes out and injects by saying "well we have already told you that we cant." I then informed her that im not interested because i was calling to cancel. My issue is how it was handled in general. There is a manner to everything. There were no pleasantries or attempts to soothe the issue. Or eveb offer another solution. She didnt know for sure what I wanted.. just maybe i wanted to change my date and bypass the headache. There was no attempt to answer the other simple questions in the email as well. Still don't know answers. Poor customer service and interaction in general. This interaction confirmed if customer service lacked on the front end...then 60.00 plus a plate × 12 is not worth the chance either. They saved me the headache. read more

First time visit for birthday, took the whole family. Drive 80 miles for this special event. Positives: atmosphere was upscale while casual. Negatives: stuffy waitstaff. Slow service and had to ask for drinks. Overpriced overall considering the experience. Mixed: lobster quality was low and over cooked. One of the steaks wasn't hot. Other steaks were great. Side veggies were good. Side salad was good. Caesar salad was lacking. Desserts were good. Summary: I've eaten at finest restaurants in Texas, this one doesn't compare. Need to improve customer focus and consistency. Restaurant was good but not great. Possibly more suitable for a couple or small adult group than for a family celebrating a special day. read more

Just had dinner in New York at Mortons and Benjamin's and my Tamahock steak for two at 135Prime was better than the above Zagat rated restaurants in Manhatten. The service was impeccable and Chef Glen is delightful and very talented. read more

The ambiance on this place was different than I imagined (it's a nice restaurant, but it's in a shopping strip mall--weird). The food, however, was everything it was advertised to be. The House Salad was fantastic, as was the Gorgonzola steak. They have an extensive list of wines and other drinks, as well as a pretty great appetizer menu. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about wines and steaks, friendly, and attentive. All in all, a very nice dining experience with delicious food. read more

A little hard to find as an out-of-towner not familiar with Waco. could not locate with GPS (maybe location was Hewitt and not Waco) based on address on WEB site. Reception staff gave us enough information to guide us to the restaurant. Best chateaubriand we've ever had. Good wine list with some reasonably priced bottles (and a lot of expense account wines). We'll definitely go again if we are ever in Waco (or Hewitt). read more

Definitely this is one place to rate a zero, or even a negative if I could! I never thought it was possible for any steak to have the flavor of tap water after its cooked, but this place succeeded in that in a big way! Even after it was supposedly cooked in duck fat and shallots at a $10.00 up charge. I eat akaushi and prime beef quite regularly and I do know the difference, and to me this ribeye I had, biggest most expensive one on the menu, was nothing more than the average mediocre bargain family pack ribeye that can be had at any local grocery store! This was absolutely the cruelest joke I've ever had put on me in a lifetime of dining out, and Im 56 years old. It just tore my heart out after going all day without eating, and then throwing away $80.00 on such a horrible disappointment. To be fair, the wedge salad I had before the steak was OK. And the cheesecake desert they gave me free of charge in an effort to sooth my pain was OK too. This kind of stuff has been going on everywhere for a number of years now and there really should be laws in place for places like this to have to meet a standard when charging the prices they do, instead of a customer paying up front in good faith and then getting screwed so terribly!!! read more

Amazing! Server was very good and attentive. Food was top notch. I had a tenderloin and it was buttery and delicious. Mac n cheese was good. Very tasty wedge salad with just a tad too much dressing but that's minor. Complimentary creme brule for my birthday which was so nice! Highly recommend. We have been to 135 several times. I always order the ribeye because I know it will be cooked perfectly. This time I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. What a wonderful surprise! This place was a shot in the dark for us but we trusted your reviews and made plans for our anniversary dinner there while visiting Waco. The food was great! We were told steak is their speciality so I passed on my favorite seafood to try out the steak. WOW! I am glad I did! It was very tasty and done just right. I am a "medium well" person and they got it right for me. My friends also ordered the steak tenderloin and we were all very happy with our meals. We ordered dessert -- the key lime pie--to share. It was more than enough for two to share and even came with a scoop of ice cream. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nice dinner in the Waco area. read more
