I've seen the reviews and was crossing my fingers that One Third would deliver...and boy did they ever! We went for a double date and the servers were so attentive and proactive. The first gentleman who stopped by poured us a tasting of their new red wine, it was delicious! We followed that with apple flavored sake, which was crisp and splendid! We started with crab ran-goons, they were lightly fried and the flavor was on point! The cheese and crab mix was smooth and very tasty! I chose the 3 roll special...it was only $11.50, WHAAATT?! Such a great price, I was shocked! I had the spicy tuna, eel cucumber, and shrimp tempura. Every roll was fabulous! The spicy tuna was exactly how I like it, the eel was a great roll with the crunch of the cucumber, and the tempura was fried perfectly and rolled nicely! Called in an order of Pad Thai, Gen Tso's Chicken, and Hibachi steak+Shrimp. The Bad: - gen tso was stale. How is this even possible? Tasted like the chicken was super old and the breading wasn't even fully cooked/fried on the outside - steak hibachi was again lacking flavor. - shrimp hibachi was tough and over cooked The ugly: - pad Thai noodles were undercooked and lacked flavor. While planning my trip to Jacksonville, I was so excited to see that this restaurant serves gluten free food! Having Celiac, I never get to eat my Chinese food favorites. We arrived for an early dinner and were seated immediately. I was a bit concerned because there were only a few others there, but quickly saw that pick up orders were almost constant. The staff were all extremely friendly and assured me of no cross contamination. Everything came out hot and fresh, and gluten free soy and yum yum sauces were provided. Everything I ordered was tasty, but the rice was phenomenal! The portions were large and I ordered two different entrees so I had leftovers for a couple days. I came in with a group of girlfriends for Ladies night out. We all live in this area so this spot was extremely close and convenient for us to dine in. l called for a reservation and when we arrived, the restaurant was pretty much empty on a Friday night. So I guess that reservation wasn't necessary. The waiter was sweet abd set up a long table for 8 of us, we ordered a plum sake to share among the girls. It was pretty pricey for a small bottle. I had the orange chicken and my sister got a teriyaki tofu which was better than my chicken since mine was bland and full of batter. My friends who had sushi said their food was better so I wish I had ordered the sushi instead, better luck next time. Our overall first time experience here was fun but nothing extraordinary. The waitress and waiter were nice but not that attentive. When the server set the fried wonton wrappers on the table after delivering our drinks, I knew I was in for a different kind of Asian culinary experience. I stopped in here on a Saturday evening and was quickly seated. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. As mentioned previously I was surprised by the friend wanton wrappers we were greeted with. They were very lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar that gave them a little sweetness. We moved on to some cheese rangoons that were cooked with the triangle fold but each tip was folded over so that every bite had a bit of cheese in it. Brilliant. The miso soup was particularly good as far as miso soups go. We had the chicken katsu and orange chicken for our main courses. The orange sauce was well seasoned with some tasty bits of orange zest. The katsu had a very nice crispness to it. We asked out server for some shrimp sauce and were shocked that this is a HOUSE shrimp sauce - and it was incredible. The chefs are clearly confident in their craft. This isn't your cookie cutter Asian meal you can get from any old place - there is some character in this food that makes for a fantastic meal. I've been on the fence about trying this place, but today I decided to give them a try. I ordered salmon hibachi and shrimp tempura roll to go. I was highly disappointed with my meal. The shrimp tempura roll had some type of sauce on top of it that was took away from the roll. My salmon was burnt on the bottom and over cooked. The fried rice tasted scorch. I love this place... mainly because it's a great combination of service, food, and price. We've been here 4 times in last 6 months. Every time has been a really good experience. Staff and service are the best...friendly, attentive, and helpful. We normally get a lot of sushi and mix in other things. The sushi is the star, but most of the other dishes are pretty good too. The diversity is great. Their sushi is what I'd call simple, but is always fresh and well done. It's also way less costly than most other sushi restaurants. I suspect they might have more elaborate sushi, but they have such a great selection of more simple things that we have never gone beyond them. We'll be gone most of the summer, but I can't wait to go back this fall. read more

I've ordered the J&J sushi roll (tempura shrimp inside, with steamed shrimp & avocado outside, topped with eel sauce) every time, and last night was no exception. It's always good and nicely presented. It's one of my favorite sushi rolls! My husband ordered the fried gyoza appetizer and it comes with six dumplings and a yummy, sweet soy sauce for dipping. I like the smoky meat filling and will definitely get it when we're in again. For our entrees we each got something different. My husband ordered General Tso's chicken. It was white meat chicken that was moist, cooked just right and covered in the perfect amount of sauce. I ordered chicken Pad Thai. It was just okay and not something I would order again. The sauce tasted a bit like it came out of a jar, and was somewhat spicy even though I asked for no spice. As I said before, this was not our first visit and it will not be our last. Recently moved in the area, this was my first time trying One Third Asian House. I ordered for pick up two orders of Pad Thai (beef and shrimp) and three rolls of sushi, which was ready, waiting for me on the table upon entering the restaurant at the time I wanted. The food overall was pretty good, but the thing that sold me the most was the portion of pad Thai; it was gigantic! I have a pretty big appetite but I hardly was able to finish half the container of just one order of pad Thai. I swear, at one point it felt like the container was replenishing itself after trying to make a dent in it.
