We've been dining here for more than two years, and every visit reminds us why it has earned a permanent place on our list of Favorite Tables Around Town. The atmosphere strikes a wonderful balance between upscale and comfortable. Whether you're planning a romantic date night, celebrating a special occasion, or simply craving exceptional sushi, Green Papaya delivers an experience that feels polished without ever feeling pretentious. We especially enjoy the side dining room, where the softer lighting creates an intimate setting that's perfect for lingering over dinner. We started this visit with the sampler appetizer, and it's one of the best ways to experience several favorites from the kitchen. The spring rolls were light and crispy, the coconut shrimp had just the right touch of sweetness, the chicken skewers were tender and flavorful, and the crab rangoon was rich, creamy, and perfectly fried. Susan couldn't pass up her favorite Tom Kha soup. If you enjoy bold flavors with a little heat, this soup is outstanding. The creamy coconut broth, fresh herbs, and spice create one of the most flavorful versions we've had anywhere. If you're sensitive to spice, just keep that in mind when ordering. Now let's talk about the sushi. As sushi lovers, we've worked our way through nearly every specialty roll on the menu over the years, and Green Papaya has never disappointed us. On this visit, the Tiger Roll earned one of our highest honors: our Best of the Best award. We don't hand that recognition out often. The Tiger Roll was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. Every bite combined fresh fish, great texture, and layers of flavor that complemented each other instead of competing. It's the kind of roll you remember long after dinner is over and the one we'll recommend to anyone visiting for the first time. We also ordered the Tropical Roll with spicy scallops, mango, and white tuna. The sweetness of the mango softened the heat from the scallops beautifully, creating a combination that was refreshing, unique, and absolutely delicious. Service has always been friendly and attentive. One thing that makes Green Papaya a little different is the robot that helps deliver food throughout the restaurant. Our grandchildren absolutely love it, and it's always fun watching kids light up when it rolls by. For adults trying to enjoy a quiet conversation, it can occasionally be a little distracting, but it's certainly memorable and has become part of the restaurant's personality. Green Papaya isn't inexpensive, but quality sushi rarely is. The ingredients are fresh, the presentation is excellent, and the consistency keeps us coming back year after year. We'd much rather pay a little more for outstanding sushi than settle for something average. I often forget this place is here. I do like Green Papaya and typically enjoy our visits. Tonight was no different. We shared a tempura appetizer and then our entrees. My wife had the eggplant and I had the Thai Ginger. Both were tasty. I did get mine a little spicy and came out with the right sizzle. My only complaint is the water. I drink water at most meals. The water is not good. No amount of fruit is going to help. Instead, we ended up getting a hot sake. That was a good choice. read more

After trying the location on blanding in Jacksonville, this location doesn't compare. Every dish ordered didn't live up to expectations from the blanding location. This location is much smaller, yet the serving time is very slow compared to the other location. Long wait times for food, appetizers and even drinks. Prices seem to be more expensive than the other location as well. My daughter order the teriyaki steak, something previously ordered at the other location, it didn't come out sizzling and tasted nothing like what they had before. Decided to try Green Papaya for the first time. Now this goes for all Green Papayas since I have never been to one. We walked in for lunch on a Saturday and wow this place is very nice on the inside and it very large. We sat down and saw they even have I starry night effect with shooting stars too. They also have a lunch menu that is also well priced and it is available on Saturday too. I was feeling saucy and hadn't had Pad Thai in awhile (well good Pad Thai) so I went with that with Beef and they had sushi specials and the Oceanroll was calling my name. Our food came out quickly and looked very good. fat pieces of fish in the sushi roll and a nice serving of Pad Thai with plenty of beef. This was of sure some of the better Pad Thai I had had lately too. Can't stand the flavorless overly sweet stuff you find around now. I also did try the Fresh Mango with Chicken. Loved this place! Gorgeous atmosphere inside. Little robots rolling around delivering food which felt otherworldly!! Perfect date night. Our server was so friendly and kind. She offered suggestions and took excellent care of us! I tried two of their specialty sushi rolls. The "Holiday Roll" had delicious tempura shrimp, mango, avocado, cream cheese, and crunch wrapped in soy paper, topped with kani, tobiko and special sauces!! Loved how the tobiko was all different colors. Very visually appealing!! Super yummy, full of big flavors and so many delightful textures working together for the perfect bite! I also tried the "New England Roll" which was a California roll topped with lobster salad, mango, mango sauce, and tobiko. The mango sauce is utterly delicious. The staff is rude and after I sat down, I watched a young girl get shoved by one of her fellow coworkers. I decided to keep on with my meal. After I got my food, my soup was cold and the silver-wear tasted like straight lemons. Also the silver-wear was water stained. The clear soup was great, I also had a shrimp tempura sushi roll ( I know it's boring but I think it shows the quality of restaurant when they have a good one?) and I had some curry. Had some really mediocre food with some incredibly mediocre service. Of all of the green papaya locations I've been to, this is hands down the worst. Went last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. Food and service wasn't great. The Mai Tai wasn't good. The menu has Quail egg as an ingredient to go with the Tuna Tartare appetizer but it didn't have it when it came out. The server said they don't do it anymore and would let the owner know the menu still says it. The Crispy Garlic Duck wasn't great. The duck has more of a tempura-fried taste/texture, not what you would typically think of when you order a crispy duck dish. I've been reading the excellent reviews about other Green Papaya locations for a long time. Now that there is one closer to home, I finally had a chance to experience what I've been missing and it didn't disappoint. The owner's daughter Nina let us know they just opened about a month ago. Pretty big menu with Thai, sushi, and hibachi. We ordered some Roti canai, a black dragon roll, the mouth watering roll, and duck with golden curry 5 level spice. I would've ordered above the max but I was splitting it with my son. The roti really hit the spot and that was after a 15 min drive home, the black dragon with eel and shrimp tempura was excellent, and the mouth watering was very good. The duck was well executed with 3 breasts and a great flavor profile. I know spice level is subjective and in my opinion, could have been hotter. Add me to your list of fans!! read more

Tried to go here for Christmas Eve as we go here every year. Walked in and the place was empty but they asked if we had reservations. So they told us because we were a party of 6 and didn't have reservations we needed to wait 40 minutes. We asked if we could sit at 2 tables and her response was "we don't do it like that". Service was excellent - our server handled special requests and recipe modifications to accommodate special needs easily and professionally. Thai and sushi cuisine with an extensive menu - although we are used to Thai restaurants offering Thai iced coffee - not available here. They do make Thai iced tea, but it just isn't the same taste. Sorry, it's one of the main things we judge Thai restaurants on. We ordered a number of sushi rolls and the kana salad, all excellent - so the sushi side of the house is very good.
