I have been coming to this place anytime I need a smog check done since the late 1980's. I made a trip there last Tuesday. As usual they were very professional and courteous. Time for yearly registration and I needed a smog. One Stop has been there forever and I have used them in the past, so it was a no brainer to call. No appointments taken. First come, first served. Cool. I went by after the lunch hour. It didn't look busy, but that doesn't mean anything. I went into the office. No wait. Paperwork completed. I didn't even notice that my car had been taken in. Really quickly, my smog was completed. I paid. Got my paperwork and keys and I was out the door. I think I was there for a total of 20 minutes. Great experience! Nice old man but he messs up both of our custom cars. He should not be driving anyone car he needs to have the other employees drive I feel bad but he smashed my back bumper into the curb and the other car he scratched all the paint off my front lip and it's at ride hight both cars bagged but lifted higher than ride height. She told me to come in at 2:15 I showed up at 1:45 and told me they are no longer taking any clients . They closed at 3 . She then gave me attitude and cussed me out infront of my 7 year old son . . I have had several smog checks done here. Never had an issue, however, they are not cheap. I just paid $ 68.20 for my smog inspection which is high as heck. Anyway, there are other shops cheaper, maybe I should try another one next time. Too pricey for me. read more

This place is a One Stop Scam, I am in the process of registering my vehicle and the check engine light was on. I should've done my research but I had no idea a check engine light meant it would not pass a Smog Test. Knowing I wouldn't pass because of a Check Engine Light, they still charged me $60 and had the nerve to tell me for $100 they can run a diagnostics test and retest the smog for an additional $50. Why not suggest a diagnostics test in the first place? They do have all they're legal obligations scattered on there wall, so just beware. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Not sure why they have such bad reviews. That was not my experience. I was able to get my car in quickly for a Smog check and it's close to a lot of stuff so the time passed quickly because I just went and had lunch around the corner. They called when the car was done, they sent the info to the DMV, I paid and left. The cost seemed higher than others I saw around town, but this was close to my house and time is of the essence. Came in on a Saturday to get my car smog. I was told the wait it would be an hour. I left call back an hour and a half later car still was not complete it. Matter fact they haven't even started my car and told me it would be at least another hour and a half before it would be done. Don't waste your time here. The way the receptionist responds really seems like she doesn't even want our business like the wait is going to be so long you might as well just go somewhere else what is the vibe that I got from her. I appreciate the fact that they're accommodating and got the job done same day. Old lady in the front( closest to door) is very short and abrupt. Not very friendly at all and has a matter of fact kind of attitude that comes of a little abrasive and border line rude and condescending. The cashier is ok. She at least makes an effort to get you the answers you might have. Got car back with minimal opportunity to ask questions that I felt were pertinent and mattered to me even though I tried. I come here for all of my cars work they need done! They are quick easy and have a really nice staff. Plus cheap! I have had problems in the past with mechanics kind of blind siding you with extra fees and things of that sort but here they are very straight forward and tell you how it is. I doubt there is better anywhere in Bakersfield to get your car worked on. The White Lane store is personally my favorite though this is simply because its closest to me they have another one over off rosedale. read more

Don't trust your vehicle with this shady business unless you want to pay over $150 for them to service repairs on your vehicle by CUTTING CORNERS and not actually repairing the issues. When I tried returning within the warranty period (not even a month later), a woman at the desk told me there was nothing they can do, they don't honor their parts and labor guarantee, and I'd have to pay for services AGAIN for them to fix the issue they should have handled to begin with. Took my car there in June. They said your car failed we will apply for the Assistance program once you receive it bring the car back and we will fix it. Took the car back with the assistance paper and they never fixed it. They kept coming out and telling me they don't know what's wrong with the car and take it to the dealer.. If i could afford to do that i would have. On Friday have heard nothing from them I called at 4PM only to have the rude woman tell me my mechanic went home and to come and get it and take it to the dealer... I took it to a different smog place and they said did you get your money back from them? I said no. I was told to get my money back... they refused to give it back to me telling me they never smogged it? Unprofessional, Rude. II would NOT take my car there... My smog was due back in December of 2016. I brought it here and it failed. So I had to take it to my mechanic to see why it failed. To make a long story short my vehicle needed 3 repairs and 4 months later it finally passed. I only have good things to say about everyone there, they remember me and I had to ask them multiple times to check if my vehicle was smog ready. As frustrating as if was for me to get the repairs needed to pass smog and going back and forth asking them to check with their machine if my vehicle was smog ready, they were happy to help and Have me pointers on what I can do to help. The patience paid off and thanks to them for helping me through the process. I would highly recommend them as a local and honest business. They are wonderful!! I was told I had a bad O2 sensor, catalytic converter, and an internal valve sealing problem. Estimated cost of repairs 1800 to 2000 dollars. Took it to my mechanic and he said I needed a new catalytic converter and smog shop. 340 dollars and it just passed smog at the new place. I don't think they had bad intentions but they caused a lot of stress by being wrong. I didn't contact them to ask for a refund due to my personal issues so I don't know if they might have refunded the money for the incorrect diagnostic. read more

Don't have a thing to complain about. Upon walking in, Sheila greets you like she's known you forever, and I watched her treat everyone that walked in the door the same exact way. Of course, being down the street from the DMV you know they're going to be busy, but they had me out of there within an hour. Highly recommend. Had a good experience here. Went to several smog shops trying to get my 1990 VW Camper with a Subaru motor smoged. I have all the proper paperwork, but four stations refused the job. Too hard, my equipment isn't calibrated, can you come back in a week... always an excuse. This place was busy, but the kind gal at the desk said "no problem. We can have it done in an hour." Sure enough, 55 minutes later I was on the road with a passing smog test and several compliments from the shop crew as to how nice my rig was. This will now be my "go to" smog place. I really think that the mechanics here are top notch. I also think that the young woman at the larger counter is excellent. However, I have trouble with the older woman who sits near the door who seems to deal mainly with smog inspections. My first visit there was an ok adventure: the mechanics were very good, but I had to "tapdance" around this woman and her child or grandchild. I have been there four times, and I don't think I have ever been rude or offensive, yet right away, she is rude to me each time. Yesterday I went in to see if I could get an oil change, after receiving a postcard from them reminding me. She gave me every possible reason to not take my business that day, and more importantly, when I tried to schedule an appointment for the near future, her only comment to me was "you *do* know that it costs $80 for an oil change, right?" Well, I just don't know what to make of her attitude. She clearly didn't want my business. I've gone there only one time when she wasn't at the counter and had an excellent interaction with the group. I won't go back. And, I am really bothered by the fact that Yelp doesn't recommend the two very negative reviews for this business. I think that those two "non recommended" comments are real and should be given attention. It's that woman who seems to either have very bad days, or to take an instant dislike to certain types of customers. I find it really distressing to have to deal with her. read more

This is probably the worst place I'd ever been to for customer care. As I drive up to the shop I saw on the front door a sign painted saying "free retest" so I was convinced this was the place to go. I had the car there for about five minutes when I was told by a technician that I needed to drive the car around because the obd2 sensor hadn't reset to test the vehicle and was advised to drive it around. So I did. I came back and another tech said that I should let it sit overnight and drive it around in the morning and bring the car back. I did when I returned in the morning the lady behind the counter said that we took off without paying...really? If we did then why were we returning?...she said we had to pay for the previous day and pay again for this day... I pointed out the sign that said free retest... she said that was only on the same day...I pointed out that the sign didn't say that... Sheila and Mike made me feel like they truly cared about helping me get the needed repairs done efficiently and economically. This place is ridiculous. I have gone here for years but after today I will never return! My check engine light has been on for 3 years for minor things. My dash needs to be replaced, a switch in the door, and my headlights have a recall on them. 2 years ago one stop did my smog check with the engine light on and my vehicle passed. I went back today to have it done and the old bag at the counter SHEILA basically called me a liar stating they would not have performed the smog with my check engine light on. Since I had already spoke to her on the phone earlier today I was disgusted she chose not to just tell me on the phone. I grabbed my things and as I was walking out the door she told me BYE FELICIA. I turned around and called her and said fuck you ugly old bag. Don't talk to me like that. She then jumped up from her desk, throwing her clip board and paperwork to the ground and chased me outside to attack me while I had my 3 week old daughter in my hands. 2 employees had to grab her and asked her what the hell she was thinking. She thought she was in the right for wanting to attack me. After the employees snatched her up and set her straight she tucked her tail between her legs and went inside like the miserable punk bitch that she is. I laughed at her and said I can't wait to post this on yelp! In the end they said they never smogged my car with the check engine light on 2 years ago. My light has been on for 3 years and my car was smogged 2 years ago (and it passed) so what's that tell you? They were talking to me like I was stupid. I'm not stupid. Those people are morons and need to get their facts straight. Had they wrote their paperwork out thoroughly and wrote that my check engine light was on like they wrote about my gauges not functioning this could have all been avoided. Get it together folks! I called yesterday to find out the wait time as I live close by. The girl answering was nice enough; said she'd write my name down and to come in about 15 minutes that I should be taken right in. I had hopes. I get there, the girl left for lunch and it didn't seem to matter with the other receptionist that my name was in. I waited 45 minutes and my car still wasn't taken in. Meanwhile the two people in front if me were sold something in order for their car to pass. I ended up saying I needed to leave. Turned out there was only one technician and he was getting ready to retest the car he just had done with the new part. I explained it would have been nice if I had been given the correct information over the phone. I feel like I got out of there in the nick of time. i was out running errands and all of a sudden my truck would not start. i checked the fuses and replaced a blown fuse, but the truck kept blowing fuses and refused to start. obviously i had an electrical short somewhere. i had no idea where to start looking so i took the truck to one stop auto care center on white lane & ashe rd. one stop diagnosed the problem quickly and with reasonably low cost out of my pocket. one stop really saved me. the customer service was excellent and one stop employees were so nice in helping me with my problem. form now on all my automotive repair needs will be done at one stop auto care center!!! read more
