Im naturally a dirty blonde but have been going for more of a bright blonde look, she gets me the color I want without frying my hair. This photo was taken two weeks after the appointment, I hadn't washed my hair for a couple days and didn't use any styling tools, and it still looks bomb!! If you are looking for a salon that only specializes with blond hair, the average experience of the stylist is less than 2 years and love to sit in a freezing cold space for hours while you are getting your hair done, then visit this salon. Made an appt for a root touch and asked about removing the red tones on my ends. Besides dropping the hair brush on a dirty floor, picked it up and proceeded to use it without wiping it. Then proceeded to use the same brush to comb through my curly hair rather than a comb. When I asked why the salon was so damn cold, she giggled and said the heat was broken. I just was there and got a horrible service. Even I have an appointment I've waited for half an hour. My hair dresser made me feel like I'm an homeless in a fancy neighborhood. She touched me with her fingertips. My hair cut took 5 min and was not good enough and they put some spray to my hair, they said it's a hair treatment for $30. No they didn't ask or info me before. Total is $100 in 10 min. No no no place.... I'm working on Main Street and seeing 200 ppl everyday, of course I won't share my awful experience with everybody but I will let people know. I was a first time customer this month and I was very impressed from start to finish! I was able to get an appointment 1 day after I called which surprised me since salons have unfortunately been shutdown by the strict and unfair governor for months. Salon has full COVID procedures in place (filling out a health questionnaire, hand sanitizer, sanitizing of wash bowls and hair tools immediately after use, plexiglass in front of checkout staff). My stylist was Kelly and she gave me the exact haircut and styling that I wanted. I highly recommend you visit her. Haircut prices are reasonable and in-line with the market for that area. The salon also gifted me with 20% off 1 hair product of my choice for being a new customer which was a nice surprise and made me feeling extra special. For my hair type, I'm used to getting Brazilian treatments, and she did and AHH-mazing job. Following, she gave me a knockout cut I really needed, beautiful flowing layers. I had read other Yelp reviews for Ciara Berry at this salon and also checked out her instagram page and knew she was the stylist I needed to see. My hair was a disaster when I came in and I left the salon with the most beautiful color. I wanted my hair to be a super ashy balayage. I couldn't believe how she had fixed it so well. She took her time to explain to me everything she was going to do. She was very honest with me and told me that my hair was going to need more work than we had time for that day and that I should come back again so she could get it all the way up to her standards (even though it looked so good after the appointment!). I used to love this place and once highly recommended it to everyone who asked where I got my hair done. I used to frequently be a client of theirs, and also bought my hair product from them. But this past experience was truly the most awful hair cut and color I have ever received after I decided to try a new stylist there. The stylist was clearly inexperienced at men's hair and departed from my instructions I communicated to her at the start of the appointment. For a salon that is (or was) reputable, especially for its blonde highlights, the highlights were dull, poorly processed, and far over-toned to the point of being nearly gray. Now, color can be fixed...but the cut....after I only asked for the ends to be trimmed 1/2 inch for maintenance (and my hair was roughly 4-5" in length), the stylist cut nearly *half* of my hair and into a completely different style than the one I wore and loved. Furthermore, the fade on the sides was one of the worst I've seen with visible lines and bands of hair on the back of my head. The damage incurred is so great that my hair is simply unsalvageable and will take months to regrow and fix. Within the hour, I managed to snag an emergency appointment at a different salon where the stylist corrected what little could still be fixed, and even she noted how poor my hair looked as I walked in, remarking, "This is a really bad haircut, and I'm so surprised since you went to a super fancy salon." After I disputed the service, they only reluctantly gave me a refund, and without any apology, adding, "You're not the best fit for our salon." This would have been useful to know *before* the service. If you don't have professional stylists who are qualified and experienced to perform the service, then why did you accept the appointment in the first place? The level of unprofessionalism is just jarring. It's no surprise all of the salon's great stylists quit en masse nearly at the same time a couple years ago because of the manager's lack of professionalism and reputation, and her poor treatment of them. I have no doubt some customers have had the opposite experience of me; a quick glance at their Instagram shows some wonderful results, particularly if you're a blonde female. But be warned--you're dealing with a total wildcard here, and I would highly dissuade any clients from visiting this salon. read more

Ciara colored and styled my hair, she was very patient and skilled. She was accommodating and made sure I could take time on deciding what color to choose. I went from a slight auburn toned dark brown to a rich dark and cool brown. It was a nice process and I was very happy with the outcome and the atmosphere. It was very clean and not too loud. I enjoyed that she asked how I'd like my hair styled although I wasn't expecting a styling since I assumed it was extra although in this case it wasn't. My hair looked very healthy and rich afterwards. My only recommendation is to play some good classics from the 70s or 80s but that's just me yearning for nostalgia (: read more

They do a good job, but I honestly wouldn't recommend coming here because it's just not worth the money. It costs nearly twice as much as anywhere else I've ever been. My highlight and haircut was $290. With a 20% tip, it adds up to $345. For 3 hours at the salon. That's over $100 an hour. I was told that pricing started at $165 and that what I was looking for would be around $200. So my price quote was only 2/3 of what I was actually charged. Part of that was because the stylist charged me for a special treatment even after i told her i didn't want one. I was also charged for extra products since my hair is thicker than average. That's happened to me before, but normally the stylist explains the charges or it's listed on the receipt--neither of which happened at one one nine. I only got these details after i left this negative review and the stylist sent me angry messages. I feel like i was deceived/taken advantage of with the pricing. There are no prices on the website, so clients have to rely on the stylist for the correct information. If you're not used to paying an unlimited amount to get your hair done, then you should definitely ask a lot of questions before you book here. Also, I arrived five minutes early and then had to wait 35 minutes for my appointment. Again, my hair turned out fine, but the service and the prices were sub par. read more

It pains me to put this review out as I have been a fan of One One Nine since it's opening. I was very loyal to the Stylists that left en mass from Salon Vox and have always been happy. I travel full time and am a business professional that amazingly looks disheveled every 3 weeks. As a result, I've had to call with little notice and hope for the best. For years, it worked out great. However, I did have 3 experiences in the past year where I had an appointment and received a call the day of stating that the stylist was not able to see me due to schedule issues. What was infuriating was the way the receptionist(s) handled it - made it seem like I was being difficult because I couldn't understand the rationale for why I should have to be impacted. I tried to be reasonable and offer up a different time but each time I was told they couldn't accommodate me. The most recent experience was a call I received while I was driving to my appointment. I was just informed that I've been "86'd" as a result of my behavior. It really is a bummer. I don't feel like I've been treated with the same level of loyalty I offered them. It's okay, my hair isn't exactly difficult to figure out. But what is really too bad is that individuals who have nothing to do with the revenue or the service other than making appointments have created me into this monster. To the One One Nine team, sorry to have been so much trouble, my 30% tipping, buying all my product from you and having my family also get their service with you didn't seem to add up to trying to sort out these issues. I came here for a maintenance cut with Brandon. I had recently gotten a ton of hair cut off at another salon (going from waist-length to shoulder-length) and I'd had an unfortunate experience there (at the other salon) where my hair had been mercilessly over-thinned. I explained my situation to Brandon and put myself in his hands, not knowing exactly what I needed out of the cut, and he did a beautiful job. He took off as little length as he could and I still left with a sleek angled bob that I had originally hoped for! I came here a few weeks ago and got super lucky, as I made a SAME-day appointment the Sunday of Labor Day weekend! Kate was my stylist and she was absolutely amazing! Kate was very professional, positive and fun! I felt horrible booking an appointment at 4pm on a holiday weekend but she was VERY sweet and didn't seem to mind working later than probably anticipated. I recently moved to Ann Arbor so this was my first haircut experience in the area. I absolutely will come back to her for my next haircut! :) I highly recommend coming to this beautiful salon. It's located right next to Frita Batidos and there's ample street parking nearby. Prices are comparable to cities like Chicago... so I would budget around ~$50 for a haircut.
