From the therapists to the desk staff, everyone in the office seems ... genuinely happy to be there? And like they actually care about their patients? Crazy, but this isn't always the case in medical settings! Martin was incredibly kind and patient with me, even when I was stubborn and disobedient (!), and by the end of our time, he had completely reframed how I thought of exercise, strength, and recovery. Can't recommend enough!!!

Hima is extremely kind and optimistic and knowledgeable. She gave me the tools to handle flair ups when they inevitably happen, but from the time I started seeing her to finishing I went from not being able to walk very much and feeling pain every day, to exercising again with minimal pain and anxiety of reinjury. At one point I even strained something in my hip while I was out of town, and she responded to my panicked email immediately, giving me guidance. She even helped me prepare physically for moving apartments. Treatment from her is very personal and I appreciated it so much. Especially when an injury-that you feel is ruining your quality of life-can be so emotional. The facility is kind of small and can feel chaotic when it's busy, but I didn't mind too much. The windows and high ceilings were nice, plus all the equipment looked new. I will definitely be coming back here if I have any future issues. 1000/10 stars for Hima Gandhi

I had a series of compounding injuries last year and in different referrals went to Spear, Park Sports, and had in home therapy and there are definitely pros and cons to all of them. At it's best, I definitely got more attention and personalization from the physical therapist at Park Sports than at Spear. But at it's worst, the therapist seemed uninterested in being there, arguments over pulling down the parallel bars needed to safely do the exercises I needed, and sometimes attitude about asking for a rest. I'm really grateful for the good sessions, especially in the beginning. But even if it was sporadic, having those negative sessions and not knowing what energy I would be met with was difficult. I was also asked to redo my progress survey so it would look like I had improved more than I had to corporate. Like Spear (and all PT I've had in NYC) the therapist meets with you for about 15 minutes and then supervises while also treating several other patients. I've now moved and benefit from greater one on one support. In terms of insurance and billing, it felt like no one was communicating or keeping track. The front desk would tell me to ask the therapist who would tell me to ask the front desk. I was pressured to front load my sessions (they even wanted me to come in several days in a row, which I pushed back on). I didn't even know I'd gone over my allotted sessions and was told I would definitely be able to get more through insurance ... Then got a surprise bill for over $700 right before Christmas. I did not get calls back from the front desk, and Ivy rehab has been incredibly difficult and at one point rude to deal with. They say my insurance just hasn't given an answer to the forms they submitted. My insurance says the forms where never submitted and they don't even have records of my last month of sessions being submitted for insurance at all. It's a mess. I was told they would put a pause on the bill while insurance decided, but they sent it to collections without warning me. I don't really know who to believe. By contrast, Spear and insurance/billing was 100% clear and everyone was always on the same page (my therapist there helped me space out the sessions to cover the whole length of anticipated recovery time) and insurance showed everything being submitted on time. As I said, I have mixed feelings of gratitude and frustration. I would say if you want to work with Park Sports be ready to be on top of the insurance and don't let them front load your sessions if you have a complex injury with an unknown projectory.

The therapists I saw here were kind and helpful where they could be. Over the span of three months, largely going twice per week, I don't think I ever had an appointment here my therapist had fewer than 3 patients at the same time slot. I am largely a self starter and follow directions well, but the lack of immediate feedback or direct instruction could at times be quite frustrating. Want a recommendation for a specific therapist? I can't give you one, all three therapists that I worked with left here in the short time i had been coming here. Their website is super old, clunky, and frustrating as well--lots of downtime and system maintenance, I had multiple issues logging in even after resetting and verifying my password. With the minimal direct feedback you receive during sessions, a lot of relevant information related to your treatment is here, and did not feel as accessible as it should be. When I needed information or to make or change an appointment, it would often take a couple of calls or emails for a response. As I said, people were kind, and seemed to want the best for you--and I did make physical improvements during my time here. But ultimately, if I do need more PT in the future I think the strong likelhood is that I would seek out another option or facility.

I arrived at exactly 9:05 for my appointment today, paid my co-pay, and sat in the waiting area as instructed. After 15 minutes of sitting right in front of the desk, I received an automated email stating I was a "no-show." When I flagged this, the receptionist tried to claim I was "late" and that my therapist, Anushka, needed to reschedule me. This is completely false. I was on time and waiting in the lobby the entire time. To make matters worse, they then suggested I could still be seen 20 minutes into my time slot, which is totally unacceptable and unfair to any patient. I am 32 weeks pregnant and do not have the energy to deal with this kind of run-around. Between the clerical errors and the attempt to blame the patient for their own mistake, I will not be returning. I'd highly recommend looking elsewhere if you value your time and expect basic professional courtesy.

I could have gone with a traditional, if not, old school physical therapist, but decided to give PhysioRX a try. I was nervous about going here though, as I'm not a super athlete or major weight lifter but figured if they had such great reviews, that I should give them a shot. I'm so glad I did! I had my phone consultation, then an in person one. I mainly worked with Connor who was an absolute joy to work with. While the approach wasn't what I expected, I am just as happy as every other reviewer. Once I did the phone and in person consult, I was equipped with an app where they assign all the exercises specifically for you. It was so easy to use. The exercises were personalized for me, and when I found ones I didn't like, they'd swap them for something else. I basically texted Connor and Will 4-5 times a week on my progress. Will, who was my secondary coach and available just as much as Connor was, and he was also awesome. Even if I didn't give them an update on how my workout went, they'd often check on me anyway. I had some weeks where I really didn't want to go to the gym, or felt very discouraged. They were there every step of the way. We even did some check in calls which I appreciated so much. I only intended on working with them for 1 month, but every time the month was finishing, I felt I had a lot of progress and continued my journey to 3 months. To be honest, I'm soooo sad to finish my 3 month stint because both of them were so great to work with, and I've seen major improvement in my leg. As someone who doesn't see themselves as an athlete by any means, their coaching really helped me get to a good place. I also realized that I was going to the gym all wrong for years. I learned so much from this experience, and kind of see my injury as a blessing in disguise as I now view rehab, exercise, and the gym in a completely different way. Thanks to Connor and Will for doing such impactful work. If I ever get injured again (although I hope not), I'll gladly reach out to PhysioRX. If you are on the fence, just book some time with them. You won't regret it!

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience here. I want to be very transparent that this was my…read morefirst time going to physical therapy and the only reason I know it was that bad is because I now have a basis for comparison. I broke my elbow on Labor Day, had surgery, then my Orthopedist recommended that I start a course of physical therapy to progress my healing. Most physical therapy offices in the neighborhood couldn't get me in for at least a month, so I went on Yelp and started calling around and made an appointment at two different offices this week. The place I just went to today was leaps and bounds better than this place. I know physical therapy is supposed to be hard, but this particular practice made it so much harder than necessary. I actually left in tears and sobbed the entire way home. And I'm not a cryer. I'll attempt to explain what I hope will be constructive feedback below. Administration: - The staff was pretty friendly over the phone and even offered to help me with the insurance process (they are out-of-network for me). - When I arrived, I was asked to wait about 10 minutes while they restarted their iPad to fill out the intake forms. I spent another 10 minutes filling out the forms, only for the iPad to stop working again. They said this had been happening all day. - When I asked if they could send me the intake form via email, they said yes and then did so after I left. My recommendation would be to email all patients the intake form before their appointment. Also, if the office had been having iPad issues all day, it would have been great if they could proactively email the intake form to everyone that was on the schedule for that day. - Finally, this office is not fully vaccinated and some members of the staff were walking around with their masks below their nose. Communication: - I saw Francis Reyes. His communication skills left a lot to be desired. - I explained to him that I had never been to PT before and that I would prefer if he explain everything to me in full detail: what's going on with me from a medical perspective, what's going on during the treatment, and what to expect. He did not, even after asking several times. - We had a few awkward exchanges. The first one was when he asked me "What type of surgery did you have?" I was confused by this question, since he was already aware the I fractured my left humerus. He couldn't elaborate. - He then said to me "the only way for you to heal is through aggressive stretching." I asked him why that was the only way and he replied, "Because it is." Again, no medical rationale was given. I then asked, "Would gradual stretching be possible?" and he responded "Oh! It will be gradual!" Those are two different things. The treatment: - In this facility, the Physical Therapist takes multiple patients at a time. The therapy takes place in back where a series of tables are lined up separated by a curtain - kind of like an emergency room. - For treatment, the first 15 minutes consisted of heat and electro stim where they left me in the room to lay by myself. Then a DEEP DEEP (painful) massage by Francis, then a few seconds of aggressive stretching at the end (ridiculously painful). - A few times I asked Francis to explain to me what was going on. Instead, he gave me dad jokes and asked me about my weekend. I'm usually not one for small talk, especially when I'm in so much pain that I can't speak. I asked him why he was asking me this and he said to get my mind off of it. - My feedback here is that, if a patient tells you how they prefer to communicate, you should listen to them. For some, taking their mind off things might work better for them, but for me, knowing what is going on calms my mind. - I also jokingly asked him a couple of times if this was supposed to be torture and he matter-of-factly said yes. - During the stretching, it only lasted a few seconds, but again, Francis didn't explain this beforehand. I probably would have been less scared if I knew the stretching would only last a few seconds. - At the end, I was sobbing. Francis didn't ask me if I was okay. Instead he said "make an appointment for Friday" and walked away. I asked for a few minutes before I left, which I took sitting in that little room sobbing. He gave me no exercises to do at home. Francis' approach to communication seems to be: as long as he knows everything will be fine, he doesn't feel he needs to communicate this to the patient. He will simply allow the patient to go through the experience and learn for themselves. If you are a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I would expect a certain level of communication, bedside manner, and sympathy. A little coaching, cheerleading, and positive reinforcement would have gone a long way. I got none of this. I am not coming back and if you are curious to hear about the excellent experience I had at the other place, please check my reviews.
