Came here on a whim because my regular spot was fully booked and couldn't accommodate me at the very last minute, so I visited this spot instead. The deep tissue massage was beyond amazing!! It released so much tension from my shoulders and the back of my knee to the point where I cried from relief ! She seems to use acupressure points to relieve knots, which I found to be truly helpful in alleviating tension and tightness all over my body! They were attentive to what I requested (to apply pressure and the areas I would want more attention placed) and was honestly better than my original spa. I will be going back! read more

I went for a deep tissue massage, and it was amazing! Out of all the massages I've gotten, ever, this place is my favorite. It's a no-frills spot and the prices are fair. Trudy is incredible! read more

I normally don't write reviews, but I really felt the need to write one today. I've been having foot pain and cramps from a sprained ankle, and hip issues for many months. I've gone to multiple different massage places and none of them have been able to help at all. It became hard for me to walk and move! I came in today on a whim after reading some of the reviews. 2 hours of massage later, I feel rejuvenated and mobile! I feel so great. My masseuse took the time to really make sure the points that were stuck came undone. I am so grateful and so happy I found this place. read more

These photos are VERY misleading. lmao I went primarily because of how beautiful and serene the photos are. The massage was decent, but leaving was a bit awkward. All of the employees crowd you in the lobby area as if they're afraid you're not going to pay. Then as you're paying, they start asking about a tip. read more

I have been here a couple times for a massage and each time it was after long runs or a race. It is the best way for recovery! The master / owner really knows his stuff. I did have a massage by a lesser trained member but it was still a decent treatment read more

Talk about customer service!!! I needed a last minute massage and called them when they were close to closing. I was about to reschedule but they accommodated me and provided the best 60 minute deep tissue massage I had in a long time. Service was great and the facility was clean. I'd definitely return! read more

Great back massage. Saves me a trip to Chinatown for an awesome massage. My husband gets the foot massage and it's wonderful too

Worst massage I've ever received. Walked in with a friend earlier and selected the first option on the menu. Older lady with glasses was my assigned masseuse. I had to ask her to put.l some effort into her massage - completely weak and it was rushed. So much so, that she threw in a free "hot stone massage". I understand they're supposed to be hot - but they were wayyyy too hot. It was uncomfortable. My friend didn't enjoy hers either and suggested another place for the future. I went to use the bathroom earlier and same stones were left in the sink. Very unsanitary. I would never return. read more

i got a deep tissue massage booked through class pass. while worth the price/credits it wasn't much of an experience. the space smells weird and you can hear all the timers going off from the massages next to you. the same techniques weren't used on both sides of my body, leaving me feeling a bit off balance. received a warm small bottle of water after read more

I've been here twice. Such a great place to get a massage at. The owners (Jimmy and Nancy) are very welcoming, extroverted, kind, respectful, outgoing, and compassionate about their craft and will function to ensure their customers get what they want out of their massage experience. Their English is not very good but if you take their time with them and use physical cues and physical pictures to communicate what you want them to do for your massage they will understand and do as you ask immediately. The rooms are well organized, the place is very clean, and their backyard garden is beautiful. I did the Nature massage with four hands for both of my visits here. It was great. I fell asleep for the entire experience and they went to work to ensure I received the massage with the end results I was looking for. During my massage, the owners always checked in with me every hour of the way to ensure I was comfortable. They will ask you where you wish to be massaged and they will attentively listen to you and follow through with what you request of them. I tried out the hot stone, Himalayan salt stone, sports, aromatherapy, Swedish, deep tissue, focus (for the abdomen), and foot reflexology massage styles while I was here. They were all very good and I will definitely be coming back here again. At the end of the massage, they cover you in a blanket, place a cloth over your eyes, and allow you to rest on the massage table for about 30 minutes. read more

Just had the most insane 90 min full body, deep tissue, RESTORATIVE massage of my life. I am a frequent massage client and wow. I think that was the best I've ever had. I'm truly shook. It was NOT for the weak! He got in areas of my body I've never knew existed. Kevin was AMAZZZZING! I've been before and had someone else who was also great. But Kevin wow. I will be going here monthly now. Or more. Great value. read more

Having been to Qi Pavilion a number of times, I can understand both the raves and rants for this business. The first few times I visited were wonderful-- effective but relaxing deep-tissue work that helped relieve tension in my muscles, combined with friendly service. My last two visits left much to be desired. About a month ago, they were understaffed when I arrived for my appointment and politely asked if I would come back 20 minutes later. I had the time, so I waited, but I could hear that the front desk was unattended while I was receiving my massage, which was a bit distracting. The young man who gave my massage spoke limited English, so he struggled with a conversation with a customer inquiring about gift cards. Although my Chinese is basic, I was able to help translate to help them with the transaction. The employees were gracious and appreciative, so I forgave them of the delay and distractions. When I visited last week, however, there were new employees that I had never seen before. The young woman who checked me in was brusque and unwelcoming, and she ended up being my masseuse. Her massage technique was the worse of my experiences at Qi. Her strokes were rushed (I'm pretty sure she cheated me out of 5-10 minutes) and rough, and she could not handle the hot stones at all. She repeatedly gasped in pain from the heat and kept dropping the stones. A trained, experienced, professional masseuse should not have struggled so. After this unsatisfactory experience, she had the audacity to remind me that "tip is not included," when I emerged from the room. It is too bad my once favorite massage parlor seems to have gone downhill due to staffing issues. But because I had such positive experiences in the past, I will give them one or two more chances before I write them off altogether. read more

For starters I like this place. It's clean, and not very busy. I've been here twice so my next two points apply to both visits. First, silence is golden...and there is a bit too much noise going on in the hall and you can hear the next room which can be distracting and less relaxing. Second, they are not shy to comment on your tip, and will be sure to share that 20% is expected; but do they know it's not required??? I would not recommend this place but I would not deter someone either, I'm just neutral. I'll go here if I have to because the service is acceptable but I would not go here over my guy in the city, he is a professional. read more

Vivian was amazing! I did the 60 minute nature massage and it felt like hours had gone by. She was absolutely great! 10/10

This place was great. The man who worked on me, Makure, was next level. Hard rec on Ocean Bodywork.

Was a regular here since '17. They've recently changed their name and management and my preferred masseuse, Peter, is no longer working there. Still decided to try someone else. Not a good choice. I paid for a 70-minute full body massage. I received a 60-minute back massage and 10 minutes everywhere else. The masseuse didn't ask me to turn over. He had the nerve to try to upsell me, with 10 minutes left, for an extra 20 minutes so he could "do my feet". Why should I have to pay for extra time when you failed to use the available time to render the services I paid for? Clearly more concerned with making $$ than satisfying customers. I will not be back and would not recommend. read more

This was my 5th time getting a foot massage here. Consistently great massages for a fair price. Always feel amazing and so relaxed when they're done. read more

Not sure if there was a change in management BUT my recent experiences at Qi were disappointing. I booked an appointment for my husband- he came back TERRIFIED because the masseuse kept coughing on him- no attempt to cover the mouth.. just straight up coughing. Then insisted on pulling down his underwear, even when my husband said no repeatedly. As for myself, my last two massages were so different. One was weak with no efforts put in to get any knots out. Another was actually pretty great, but I did notice they didn't ask me about injuries or offered essential oils like they used to. It was also really loud- I could hear the traffic, pedestrians talking and a screaming/crying cat the whole time. My masseuse was also playing double duty at the front desk during my massage. I don't think I will be back anymore... it costs more than other Chinese massages in the area, and it definitely has gone down in quality. read more

This was my first massage since COVID and it was worth every penny! The masseuse took my temperature and disinfected my hands when I walked in. They also wore masks the entire time. Ocean Bodywork is clean and has a relaxing environment. I was running a bit late because of parking and they did not give me a hard time. I will definitely be returning! read more

Great full body message. Just the right amount of pressure. Feel 1000x better. Highly recommended.

unreal place - definitely need to come back. My masseuse targeted my knots all over lower back, shoulders and neck. left feeling much lighter and better. thank you ! read more

First time I had a massage at this place, was a decent experience. Good pressure, addressing all the knots and tight parts. Salt stones was a nice touch. However, there is no full partition between rooms, and curtains for "doors", so you can hear everything that's going on in the room to next to you as well as reception area and the street. Now, second time was a "gem"...I was 5 mins late for my appointment. Their policy says 10 mins and they cancel reservations. When I showed up, the front desk clerk ignored me for 6 minutes pretending to be looking at the computer for another customer, but a minute after I was out of policy he acknowledged me and told me, we cancel your appointment because you are late by 10 minutes..... I argued that I came in within allowed 10 minutes and even less but he argued that it only counts if he acknowledges me. He offered to give me 40 min massage instead and I agreed but he walked around for another 5 mins, came back and said that since now it's 35 mins, he can't grant me the appointment at all. It's absolutely absurd the type of run around this business gives!! I do agree with lukewarm and negative reviews below regarding the experience and in particular the run arounds and inability to run a customer- friendly business. Does make you question legitimacy of positive reviews... read more

I wish I could give a good review, but I haven't even gotten the massage yet and I'm disgusted! I got here early and no one was in the front. I knocked on the locked door and no one answered. I figured, ok it's early, I'll be patient and wait. I called and a gentleman answered. I told him my name and that I was here for my appointment. He told me he was working. I asked him if I was supposed to just wait in front of the locked shop, and he said yes. It is now a half after my appoint time and it is still not opened. No one is manning the front desk and he didn't even offer an apology or ask if I would like to reschedule. This better be the massage of life for all of this unprofessional foolishness. I would give them no stars if I could. I am going to stay for my Service since it's already paid for, but I see no gratuity in their future. read more

I've been going to this place for years. It is clean, very relaxing and the massages are excellent. I highly recommend!

My first massage in six months (due to covid) and this was such a great choice. The outdoor area is sooo cute and it made me more relaxed. The massage was great, I told him the pressure and speed I wanted and wow he delivered. I will be back! read more

Awesome massages for affordable pricing. Sometimes you just need someone to work out your knots with out all the "spa" ambiance. This is the place to go!! I've been multiple occasions and never disappointed. The staff is always very courteous and accommodating. They're well versed in a deep tissue massage but can handle a gentler touch as well. The outdoor area is lovely. Highly recommend. read more

My first experience here was good, my 2nd--ow! Never returning. I agree the experience is inconsistent. It's a cleanly budget massage place, so don't expect a fancy spa experience. I was excited with a Groupon for a 50min massage, with tax it came out around $50...and I noticed they're advertising $60 for $60min massage...so I didn't actually save any money. The person I had had been at the front desk and was an older gentleman, he had good pressure but technique was way off, and I'm now sore and hurting in a bad way. He used his elbows repeatedly on my BONES instead of muscle. Saving myself the pain next time and paying 2x as much at Ease NY in Manhattan. read more

I will not return to Qi Pavilion. When I was having issues with their online booking system, I should have taken that as a sign. Then when I called to get help, but instead got a message that their voice mailbox hasn't been setup, that should have been another sign. Someone did eventually call me back and help me to get the appointment I wanted. Plus the reviews on here are so great, I persisted... Big mistake. Pros... The place seemed clean, the prices are low and my appointment started near on time. Cons (there are so many)... I arrived at Qi Pavilion and the first thing I noticed was the language barrier. The personnel at the site, that day at least, didn't speak much English, any really. The lady at the front desk seemed utterly confused. I gave her my name and she didn't understand so she kept saying "Groupon?" over and over again. I tried to explain to her that I didn't have a Groupon, but would gladly take the discount if she was going to force it upon me. She finally pulled out a list of names. I was able to point out my name and then she seemed to understand. On to the massage room... The room was only separated from the next room by a curtain. That means I could hear everything that was going on with my neighbor and my neighbor's neighbor and so on. I could actually hear the street traffic too, which wasn't very relaxing. I wasn't expecting the spa in the Ritz, but some quiet or at least relaxing nature sounds would have been nice. On to the massage... I signed up for a deep tissue massage at the strongest pressure (the associate at the front desk gave me a paper to signify strength and areas to focus on). The pressure of my massage was medium at best. My therapist never asked if the pressure was okay. I tried to mention it once, but it became clear that he didn't speak English either. I was also stunned that he ONLY massaged the areas I circled on the paper. The areas circled on the paper were supposed to be focus guide. He never touched my arms, hands, feet, etc. I expect a 1 hour full body massage to be just that. The massage wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. So the last bit of unpleasantness... Now I know, tipping in NYC is a big thing, but I'm not giving out a 20+% tip unless I'm 20+% satisfied. I wrote in a 15% tip on the receipt, which I felt was generous since I wasn't even 15% satisfied. The front desk associate couldn't speak any English, but managed to complain about my tip not being 20%. Bruh! I proceeded to school her on how tips work and offered to make the tip 0%. Needless to say, she wasn't down for the 0%. The tip bit really ruined what little zen that that weak massage gave me. Like why?!? I'm convinced that some of these 5 star reviews are fake. read more

In my top 3 massages for NYC, and I usually get a massage once a month! I took a chance on Qi on a whim despite what appear to be Yelp reviews from Qi's staff's friends, and boy, was I pleasantly surprised. They were able to take me on a Saturday with only 2 hours' notice. When you get there, you fill out a short questionnaire and circle areas on a 360° view of a body that you want to focus on. The massage area is basic (not a full-on spa or anything), and very clean. I asked for a deep tissue massage and my masseuse, Phil, used strong gliding strokes with an emphasis on pressure points. There were also some stretching movements. + mega points for online booking! Massages range $55-$70 per hour. Excellent value for Park Slope. read more

I suppose the decor -- a smattering of small press-on Christmas bows -- and the Bic pen adjustments to Qi Pavilion's bygone price list should've clued me in to the fact that the new management's just winging it. During a recent visit, a high-pantsed Asian man engaged me in a mechanical massage, until his cell phone begins to ring. He then picks ... it ... up. And carries on a 5 minutes conversation! Phone in one hand while massaging with the other; I mean I'm just impressed at this point. He finally hangs up and tosses the cell phone on the massage table by my legs. But why not use that fashionable belt clip it was fastened to? A few minutes later he tries to upsell me on a longer massage. Not wanting to get in the way of his next business call, I decline. Too bad Qi is no more, but fortunately there are a few other decent places in the area. read more

Went to get a massage for a me day and went home to find bruising on my back. I regularly get deep tissue massages all over the city but this was the first time getting bruised. The overall massage was just okay. You have your typical traffic noises which do not provide a relaxing atmosphere but that is the norm at places like this unless you go to a spa where a massage costs 80 dollars and up. I guess you get what you paid for. read more

Affordable however I'm not sure how trained/experienced my therapist was. I also think he may have been a teenager? I went to this establishment on Friday. I brought a Groupon deal. First thing, They make you pay a 5 dollar "tax". I said no worries. My masseuse was very nice and welcoming ,however, the manager gave a very nasty look that made me feel uncomfortable. I asked to use the bathroom he said "hurry up and pay" I asked the lady what's his problem I paid already. I was racially profiled for no reason. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. I will be calling my bank and disputing the chargers. I will not spend my hard earned money at any establishment that don't know how to treat people. read more

They're super nice here! Very professional and great massage. Will definitely be coming back!

Really nice Chinese massage. The place is quite clean and the staff will treat you with a level of professionalism that I haven't seen at other Asian massage places. When you enter they will have you select an aroma therapy fragrance but don't spend too much time on that because they don't actually use it. They will also have you highlight what areas of your person you need worked on, on a body chart...thats a nice feature so you won't have to provide alot of guidance once the massage starts. The massage itself is quite nice and I felt relaxed when I left. The lady worked on my tense spots and applied the perfect amount of pressure. As usual the massage is scripted so if you want something in particular done you should tell the therapist else she will just work on one part after the other and move on after some amount of time. I will definitely be going back here to deal with my chronic shoulder pain. A 1 hour massage is 57$ which is more than other Chinese bodywork places but it's worth it because it's clean. read more

This place was clean and offered very reasonable prices ($65/hour) for a deep tissue full body massage, plus I asked for some focus on my feet. I was very tight and the masseuse worked hard to get out my knots. There are no walls between client rooms so you may hear other guests, but soothing spa music plays on repeat. I will definitely return! read more

Beware - 20% tip minimum! The massage itself was only so-so. The masseuse seemed displeased that I opted for 30 minutes and not 60, and the whole thing felt halfhearted. It was less a massage and more 30 minutes of poking. I asked politely and specifically for a focus on neck, shoulders, and upper back, which the masseuse seemed to ignore by immediately working on my legs. I wasn't thrilled, so I tried to leave a 13% tip, only to be told that a 20% tip is required. I was quite frustrated, but didn't want to get into an argument after what was supposed to be a relaxing experience. The 20% tip minimum had not been mentioned at all before the session began. And I'm not sure what other folks are talking about - I was not asked to fill out any kind of form with massage preferences. I will not be coming back. read more

I paid for a one-hour Swedish (characterized by smooth strokes, full hand, or fingertips) massage. I got a 45-minute Chinese massage (hard, pokey, pressure on muscles, often with arm, elbow).
