I have always been a huge fan of the pixie cut and I wore one for over 10+ yrs. One of the main…read morereasons I chose to wear a pixie cut (other than the fact that a cute pixie will make you look and feel sexy) was because I have had SEVERAL bad experiences and I didn't trust anyone with my hair. And I was embarrassed of certain areas of my hair. And every time I would try and give a hairstylist a chance, they would say mean things to me or make me feel even more insecure than I was already feeling. And I gave up on going to the salons. I had lost all trust and faith in hairstylist. But during the pandemic I decided to grow my hair out. Not only was I tired of having to maintain the pixie cut, I just wanted something different. During my transition of growing my hair out I decided to wear braids and this was when I met Brittany. I had began to get my hair braided by Ms. Kandy and while I'm the chair Brittany came in and introduced herself and gave me her card and said to come see her when I was ready to wear my hair. Her sister (who is the owner of Amaka's International Hair Salon) was very nice as well. She too came in a talked me and made me feel comfortable and I felt at home. Anyways, once my hair had reached a length I was okay with wearing out, I did just that. I stepped out on faith and made an appointment with Brittany. She and her sister were so welcoming, I had to go back. I have several areas of my hair that needed some love, and Brittany did just that. She nursed my hair back to life. My first appointment she asked a lot of questions and made me feel extremely comfortable. By the time I made my appointment, my hair had grown out and I was now relaxer free and Not once did Brittany make me feel like it was impossible for me to stay natural. But instead She's always giving me good hair tips on how to maintain my natural hair in between appointments. Brittany is always polite, she's ALWAYS on time, and I'm always her priority while I'm in her chair. I absolutely love my hair and Brittany have renewed my faith in hairstylist. If you're looking for a great hairstylist that cares about you, your hair, and in making you feel special, Go see my girl Brittany! I promise, she's the truth!

Brittany is amazing! I'm finally back on my healthy hair journey and I'm so thankful and excited!…read moreOh and my husband keeps asking me when I'm going back! Lol

I'm a new mom who came in sleep deprived looking for some help styling my hair + a moment of self…read morecare before newborn photos. I was thrilled that Drybar offers "dry styling" which means I could be in and out quickly and at a lower price ($30 for the service plus tax and tip). I decided to give it a go and was really satisfied with the experience. I arrived for an 8:15am appointment on a Thursday - it was relatively quiet - a stylist helped me immediately. I told her I was looking for smooth curls - she was pleasant to talk to and had me finished in under 20 minutes. The style was just what I was hoping for and much better than what I could have done myself - plus it's probably the most luxurious thing I've done in months. It lasted about half the day which I thought was pretty good and was long enough for our photo session (but something to keep in mind if you're aiming for an all day look - maybe splurge for the full blow out). If you're looking for a quick and relatively inexpensive treat yourself moment, a dry style appointment is a great way to go!

Extremely disappointing experience, especially for an appointment that I scheduled a couple weeks…read morein advance for a wedding. My appointment was scheduled for 10/3, and on 10/2 I received a text informing me that someone was going to be out sick and they could no longer accommodate my appointment. I was told I could reschedule. If someone is booking a blowout/style weeks in advance, there is a pretty good chance it is for a specific event or special occasion. In my case, it was for a wedding, so rescheduling was not an option. What made the situation even more frustrating was the communication that followed. Shortly after they canceled my appointment, I received an email thanking me for "canceling" and not "standing us up." To be clear, I did not cancel the appointment -- you did. Sending a message that incorrectly placed the responsibility on the customer was incredibly frustrating. At the very least, there should be a template for appointments that the business has to cancel at the last minute that says something along the lines of, "We're sorry, but we had to cancel your appointment due to unforeseen circumstances." Then, a few minutes later, I received another email asking me to confirm the appointment that they had just canceled. At that point, I called the location to make sure there hadn't been some kind of mistake, but no one answered and I had to leave a voicemail. Thankfully, I was able to scramble and find another local salon that could accommodate me, so I have my hair taken care of for the wedding. But the entire experience left a very bad impression. Last-minute cancellations happen, and I understand that people get sick. What is unacceptable is the lack of communication, the contradictory messages, and especially receiving an email that incorrectly blamed me for canceling an appointment that the business canceled. This was my first and very last booking. I will not be using this location in the future. A business that provides appointment-based services for special occasions should understand how disruptive a last-minute cancellation can be and should handle the situation with much better communication and accountability.
