TLDR: The staff was very nice, but I'm not sure the stylists really know how to do hair well. The bad: I asked for beachy waves with a front curtain bang and lots of body for my elopement later in the day, and it wasn't even close to that. My hair just looked flat and like it was badly curled, with no curtain bang at all. To be honest, I wish I would have just done it myself at home. I didn't see one person walk out with hair that I would have considered good, including mine. Curls were too tight/ringlets, most girls had tons of flyaways on top sticking straight up. The good: the staff was incredibly nice, including my stylist. The appointment was on time and the place felt very clean and upscale.

What I asked for...vs what I got: walked out looking like a country music star. Was not thrilled because it was my birthday the next day...ugh!

I was really disappointed with my experience here. I visited Raleigh for work and made an appointment for a dry style ahead of some meetings later in the day. If you haven't been to Drybar before, they have a menu of hair styles that are really useful in communicating to your stylist what you're looking for. I chose a very loose "dry tai" style and emphasized that I didn't want any tight curls, but that's exactly what I ended up with... Plus frizz. My hair looked messy and worse than it did when I came in. I'm not sure the stylist was experienced enough to style my hair type. The curls were made way too close to the root, the iron was left on my hair too long, she didn't section my hair/use clips, she used hairspray but no products to help smooth my hair, etc. (The dry styling area isn't in front of a mirror so I wasn't able to see what was going on until it was already done.) For context: my hair is platinum blonde so it's super bleached/porous and holds curls well. It can also break off easily without proper care, get frizzy without the right products/styling -- which is one of the reasons I chose to shampoo/dry at home ahead of time. I could've done a better job styling at home, which is frustrating when you're paying (both time and money) for a professional experience. I ended up having to redo everything and wash/dry/style my hair at the hotel which was a huge hassle. I had to find a Sephora to buy hair products, etc. I've been to plenty of other Drybar locations, and this one wasn't up to par. Last week, I had a great experience getting a dry style in Atlanta.

    Champs with my blowout!

I have been a fan of DryBar since I live in CA. I met the owner of the NEW Cary location at an event in October. I was so excited to try this new location out and it didn't disappoint. The team at this location is really friendly and welcoming. I got a mix of a cosmo and southern hairdo. My hair is kind tricky and the stylist did a good job at working with it. We were working against the weather on NYE, so my hair was having some issues holding my curls. Overall, the location was easy to get to, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel special, and I truly enjoyed my experience. I will be coming back to get another blowout.

I asked for volume at the crown and proper styling of curtain bangs. Somehow my stylist couldn't manage to do either of those things.

At scheduling time, the receptionist was very nice and worked with me to find a time that fits schedules well. I was scheduled with Michaela for a Halo face framing type situation and was greeted very kindly by her and everyone else at the front desk. They offer you water and other beverages there as you arrive. There is also local crafted jewelry in the sitting area to browse. Getting back to hair, Michaela was very personable, funny, nice, and professional. The experience was nice and it feels like you're just chatting with an old friend. Honestly I probably chat too much but the story of my life LOL. They take you back to the hair washing area which is quiet and Serene, ready for relaxation. They also offer you and I mask type essential oil situation where you can pick different scents. After your hair is done washing you get processed and then you go back to your sitting area. It took a little bit to get my hair to the desired look but Michaela and the salon made it very easy to work with and get the results we were hoping for. I appreciate them for being so accommodating and ease of everything. Michaela is a great stylist and I would recommend booking with her anytime! Not only will she make your hair look better but just speaking with her makes your day better too.

He made me feel great from the moment I walked in. He cut it curl by curl, turning it this way and that to make sure it was right from top to bottom and all over. I have *never* had a stylist take that kind of care with this thick mop. Then he cleansed it, making sure I got my hands into it so I could tell exactly what it should feel like. Finally, he taught me how to handle it and apply products, talking me through doing it myself and making sure it was all written down for me. I left completely confident that I could make it look this good at home. And WOW! I had no idea my hair was this curly!!! It looks AMAZING. Gorgeous! And it's not stiff or sticky or anything. I had to run some errands on the way home and I was really bummed because it was windy. I was afraid it would be a mess again before my husband even got to see it. I got back in the car and anxiously peered in the mirror. It was a little tousled, but it wasn't a bit frizzy -- it was adorable! Whew. My family was amazed when I got home. I know it seems expensive, but Scott is SO worth it. Just suck it up and go. He's not one of these guys that does something you can never repeat at home so you have to keep coming back all the time. He makes it so you can handle your hair on your own, just returning a couple of times a year. With my life as an author and speaker traveling all over the place, that's essential. Best of all is that Scott is a super-nice guy. He was fun to talk to and really seemed to enjoy working with my hair -- you know how rare an experience that is for a curly girl at any salon! Scott Musgrave is the best at curly cuts and you will be so glad you put yourself in his hands!

Scissorhands is my family's favorite with my two younger brothers regularly getting haircuts here. Andy is not as friendly as Miss Kim in Morrisville, but we recently had a nice conversation about the Korean language since I just started studying it. The cut was masterful, for sure, and followed the example I showed in a photo saved in my phone. Shampoo was included at no additional cost and I did not have to wait in my latest visit around Friday noon. I used to pay around $30 to $35 for a regular men's cut but the latest service, Andy charged me $40 (not including tips). As for the atmosphere, it's more spacious than their old location (where they shared space with other salons) but it's not as spacious as Hair News. Nonetheless, it's in a good location by High House Road, close to Cici's Pizza, a small Walmart market, and just less than 5 minutes drive away from HMart.

Came in 10 mins before my appointment and got seated right away. The lady who cut my hair was so sweet and precise, and she asked me a bunch of questions about what I wanted. I let her have a lot of freedom, and it looked great in the end! It was a longer appointment than I expected, but she was very detailed. It ended up being $70 which is pretty expensive in my opinion for just a woman's haircut. If you don't mind paying a hefty price, you should come here.
