The summer humid weather in North Carolina is not ideal for those of us with curly frizzy hair. I…read morebooked my daughter and I blowouts here to get us thru the heat and humidity. I had grabbed two 3pm appointments, but got a call the day before that one of their hair stylists had called in sick so they'd have to do a 3pm and 3:45pm appt. Not ideal to sit around, but we were tired after a duke tour so fine to just sit around and rest. My daughter also walked around the shopping center for a bit while I got my hair done. Morgyn did a great job, although took a little longer for her to get our unruly locks straight in comparison to our blowout bar at home. I do think back at home they are just used to our hair and we are usually in and out in 25-30 minutes. This took a full 45 minutes. However, the finished product for both of us was great and many days later it still looked great even with all the heat and humidity. We try to rock those blowouts for as long as possible (thank you dry shampoo!) and this held up to the test!

She is absolutely fantastic -- great eye, excellent technique, friendly and kind. She understands cutting with the hair and not fighting it, and how to work with the crazy humid weather we get here in NC. Kelsey locked into what I wanted pretty quickly and I trust her completely -- over the past few years all of my haircuts involve a quick chat and then me declaring, "Do what you think is best!" And we will occasionally do little edits to the overall look that keep things feeling fresh but still consistently what I want, and I've never been upset or disappointed. My hair is long, coarse, very thick, wavy hair. It is "Asian hair" but a little atypical due to its coarseness. I find that i need someone who really appreciates and understands hair texture to work with mine, because I prefer air-drying when possible and just having low-maintenance hair. Her haircuts are fairly priced ($50), and I've also come in for blow outs for special occasions (college reunion, weddings, big presentations at work, etc.) for an extra, very welcome boost. Last year I got a keratin treatment from her, too, and I loved the results -- much gentler than other straightening treatments I've had and results lasted a long time. She has online booking (just google her name), which make setting up appointments a snap. I've recommended Kelsey to multiple friends and want to recommend her to you, too! :) The atmosphere of the salon is fun, clean, and a little funky without being pretentious, annoying, or stuffy. Plus, Hot Headz is next to Joe Van Gogh coffee so you can get some work done beforehand or head over for a cup of coffee if you want to show off your fabulous new hairdo. Parking is easy in the lot beside The Green Room. Everyone in there is friendly, and they offer you a beer or glass of wine to sip on while you get your hair did. A+++

Angela Goldman rocks the hair world. I have been going to see her the last three years and couldn't imagine anyone else near my hair. She is so good, I just let her play with my color and style because I know whatever she comes up with I will be happy. I'm not talking crazy hair, just subtle changes that compliment the shape and style of your personality. I now take the whole family to Angela. My fiance always comes out looking "hot" and the kids feel like they are styling, as high school students should. Angela takes her time to hear what you want and is great at suggesting something you may not have thought of. She takes great care to make sure every customer is treated kindly and with respect. It's hard to find that person to let mess with your hair and believe me I had some hideous cuts before landing in her chair. If this sounds like you, I suggest making an appointment with Ang.

I had been seeing Panduh for vivid/fantasy hair color and was willing to overlook early red flags…read more-- until my third visit went so poorly, I was left with severely banded color, no resolution, and ultimately dropped as a client after voicing my concerns. A quick rewind: My first appointment resulted in chunky, uneven highlights around my face instead of a well-blended money piece. The second time, it blended better -- but the color wasn't applied close enough to my scalp, leaving a visible blond halo. I chalked it up to a learning curve and gave her a third shot. Her salon setup doesn't help: it's dimly lit, with black walls and a single window behind the chair -- great for her to see your hair, but you're completely backlit in the mirror, meaning you can't clearly see the results until you're in normal lighting. (In hindsight, that feels intentional.) At this last appointment, I came in with faded pink and brown roots, expecting a simple root bleach and color refresh. Instead, I left with a huge band of lighter pink across the middle of my head and a harsh transition to darker pink below. I didn't see it until I got home and looked in a properly lit mirror. When I texted photos and asked if she could fix it, she admitted she saw the banding -- but refused to fix it. Her excuse? That the appointment was too short and I "needed seven hours instead of five." Worth noting: I never book my own time. I always call and have her team schedule me, since they know my hair length and needs. She then pivoted, saying I don't come in "regularly enough" for my "color goals" (something she'd never mentioned before). I told her I would've adjusted my visits if that expectation had been communicated. Again, she refused to make it right -- and then fired me as a client. For reference: I was a $700-per-visit client. If this is how she treats someone investing that much, I can't imagine the experience for anyone spending less. If you still choose to go: pay with a solid credit card. Thankfully, mine sided with me and issued a full refund after seeing the photos and text thread. _____________________ Edited to add, in response to the salon's reply (8.12.25): To clarify a few things mentioned, for additional transparency: Again, I booked by phone every time so your team could allot enough time for my long, vivid-treated hair. I never used the online system. I never asked for any clients to be moved around. I never chose the length of my service. The first appointment was not fully corrected -- just a darker overlay added to blend the harsh bleach, which faded. I didn't push the issue and was never offered or given a refund, ever. Nor did I reach out about the issues with my second appointment; I fixed it myself. The lighting in the salon makes it very difficult to assess the results before leaving -- whether one black wall or not, the fact of the matter is Panduh's space is dim and backlit. I communicated calmly and respectfully, shared photos, and simply asked for the banding to be fixed. You acknowledged it and declined. Then dropped me as a client.
