(Dined 06/20/2025 FR @ 8:00pm): Thailand (not Siam)... delightful food for anyone who tried it! In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes and things to do throughout Jersey City and specifically the Heights, my dear friend and hers recommended One Dee Siam. They've eaten here before, and I had it on my bookmark list, so I was excited to give it a whirl. I loved Thai food, would eat it every day if I could, and it was generally healthy. Actually a play on words of their sister location in New York City's Hell's Kitchen (Wondee Siam), I also found the use of Thailand's former name, "Siam", kind of intriguing whether or not it was rooted more in historical nostalgia and national pride. Would I be one delighted diner at this Siam cuisine eatery!? PURCHASE Fried Tofu w/Sweet Chili Sauce & Ground Peanuts ($8.95): With a crispy exterior and a spongy inside, dipping it into the provided mild sauce made for a plentiful delightful snacking treat! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=lHYuvRwG5T5i-NxMk5L8iQ 3pc Curry Puffs w/Thai Cucumber Vinaigrette ($8.95): Sadly, because I observed no-meat Friday, I wasn't able to fully enjoy this minced-chicken appetizer, but for the crumbled bits I tried, it was lovely enough. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=4N_FYjHBM0mhFdLychiXqQ Pineapple Red Curry w/Red Snapper Fish ($65.00): Ordered off of their specials menu which didn't have any listed prices, I was stung with sticker shock when I received the check! However, this was a massive portion of two large thick filets, juicy pineapple chunks, some cleansing vegetables, and slow-burn red curry which affected me once I got home. I had this for two glorious meals! Pricey for sure, but damn this was impressive! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=c9rfnITJMMJ4G3uWU3wmNA Steamed Rice (INCLUDED): Served in a whimsical cone shape, this white steamed fluffiness of rice paired well with my entree but nothing special. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=HPd1MmSc6LDmhz8Dtj_Jkw SERVICE We were a walk-in party of four, so thankfully, we were warmly greeted by a kind young woman who led us to a nearby open table. She handed us each a menu, brought some glasses of water, and gave us time to peruse the menu. Minutes later, a young man approached us if we were ready to order, if we had any questions, and briefly explained the evening's specials (which most of us ordered from). Because they didn't serve alcohol, they allowed BYOB fee-free - woo hoo! About ten minutes later, the appetizers arrived, and then another ten minutes passed before our entrees came out. They checked in on us, cleared away any empties, eventually boxed up our leftovers, and wished us a good evening and hopefully a return visit. Everything was wonderful - khop khun! PARKING (Street; N/A this instance) Although this was an easy 25-minute walk from my friend's place, we took a quick 10-minute Lyft because of the hot weather. Otherwise, this was on a pedestrian-only section of town, but there appeared to be random spots (no known private lot) off the main drag of Newark Ave. and all surrounding roads, or best to utilize the very good public transportation light rail - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A very clean modern-looking restaurant with a ton of dining chairs/tables that left little space between each other, the decor was more bistro with accents of Thai embellishments. A good amount of natural lighting came through the tinted large windows and doors while bright electric decorative ceiling lights https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=A29UfO7_28aBkuRguQXyyw filled in the rest. There were no TVs while low-volumed pop music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=pxqhxOKw1feChA15uKlLRQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL One Dee Siam was da bomb, and I hoped to return to try other items on their reasonably expansive menu! Everything smelled and tasted wonderfully, the portions were huge, the prices very generally affordable (they really should put pieces on the specials menu), the service was friendly and straightforward, and I appreciated that they allowed BYOB without a corkage fee (we shared a bottle of wine). And, I always loved supporting small businesses whenever possible. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $88.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Came here Friday evening for dinner with a group of 8. For the majority of the group, it was their first time trying Thai food. Without a reservation, we were seated in 5 minutes - still a busy night but we were serviced with kindness. I believe our server was the owner or manager in charge. And she did an excellent job servicing us. I chose to order the Tom Yum Noodle Soup and it was tasty but not my fave Thai dish. The broth was a bit on the sweet side but without the creaminess. Also, I would have appreciated shredded chicken and not ground chicken. While I have a few adjustments, it was not a horrible dish. It was tasty and warming to the soul.

The food here is excellent!!! I like to dine in because the restaurant is spacious and the service is very good. Been here many times and sometimes I order takeout. Highly recommend trying if you like Thai food.

Good food but it's Pricey. Newark Ave has high rent/ overhead area to pass to customers. Smaller portions too-Shrink- flation!! Did not even have paper bag unlike other Asian food places nearby. They did not care if customers slide & dropped food in the snow. Only 2 tables 4 customers SLOW thursday night.

Floral contemporary decor sets a modern urban ambiance. Situated in a vibrant Jersey City neighborhood, this place is a gem. Understated from the pedestrianized pavement and greeted by BYOB sign. Started Steamed Dumplings accompanied by Shrimp Tom Yum soup. The Kanom Jeeb dumplings were tender and packed with flavor, the soup however needed a little more to it as I found it very one dimensional in terms of that sourness that needs the Umami to balance. Shrimps were tender and not overcooked. For the main event I chose Crispy Duck Gra Pow served with white rice. It was a stand out!

I went to One Dee Siam for a work dinner. We came at 4 for dinner and had the place to ourselves. The restaurant is very nicr. I love the decor. The light fixtures and chairs are so nice. The wait staff is very hospitable without being over bearing. The Thai food here is some of the best I've tasted! When this restaurant was under new management it was called Swadee which was delicious so One Dee Siam is just as delicious! Restaurant is BYOB which is a bonus! Theres nothing like bringing ur own bottle of wine to have a meal and definitely cheaper option. I will def be back for lunch. If your in the mood for good Thai, this place is s must try!!!

I don't have too many options for Thai in this general location. Yesterday I picked up a dinner order of drunken noodles with beef and with tax's I paid over $21. My assessment was the order was lite for the pricing and the meat to noodle ratio was definitely off for my liking. The flavors were there,

Came here with a group of seven people for lunch around 12 :15 on a Thursday. We didn't have any reservation but there was enough space and we may have only been the second group there. We were quickly seated and our team who had various diet restrictions was able to order food items to meet their needs. The food was very good. The staff doesn't smile much though They didn't offer custom spice levels, but gave us a couple of condiments to spice up our meals. A nice option for Newark Avenue when you want some Thai food.

Had come here Thursday night for dinner with a few friends. We tried a bunch of vegetarian dishes and one fish and chicken dish. The place is nice and spacious. It has a nice ambience. They are BYOB with some restrictions. Food was hot, fresh and decent quantity. I liked the price point too, not too pricey. Everything was tasty. Service was quick. I particularly liked the veggie noodles. Curry was tasty and had lot of vegetables. The place is definitely worth trying once.

This isn't really a review of One Dee Siam since I've only tried one item, but it is a review of their fantastic red curry. When I'm doing something in the area, I love to pick up an order of red curry to go, and so far it has been consistently perfect. I tell myself that I'll order something else next time, but the red curry is just that good. My photo of it isn't great as I was just focused on snapping it as quickly as possible then chowing down. One day I'll get around to dining in the restaurant and ordering something else!

Very cool decorations. Drinks and appetizers came out quickly. The fried tofu was PERFECTLY crispy. Drunken noodles were also perfect. Seating was cozy and quiet.

Food (4/5): We ordered the soft shell chili crab, Thai salad, and One Dee noodle soup. The Thai salad had a nice combination of fresh vegetables and I liked the addition of the peanut sauce. The Thai salad was average. Had a good amount of veggies but it felt like a regular salad with peanut sauce. The soft shell chili crab was solid but not spicy at all and was too salty. The One Dee noodle soup was excellent! Definitely my favorite dish of the meal. The broth was super flavorful. I also really liked the mango sticky for dessert. The mango was the right amount of ripeness and the sticky rice was sweet and delicious. Service (3/5): Decent service but they didn't check up on us frequently. The servers were helpful when we asked and helped provide recommendations. Ambiance (4/5): Beautifully laid out restaurant with nice lights decorating the ceiling and a wall of flowers. The ambiance was very chill with relaxing music. Also liked how it was well lit. The walkway to the restroom had cool art. My only complaint is that the seating to other guests is way too close especially for the booth tables.

There were a large variety of choices for the buffet, and I tried a little bit of everything. It was all cooked well and wonderfully flavorful with tons of warm seasonings. Stand outs included butter chicken, noodles, curry, and tandoori. I would have liked more seafood options and meat other than chicken though. The Naan was served warm and slightly crisp, while still being soft. I decided to also order a drink called Shahi Falooda. Since I never tried it, I didn't know how it was supposed to look, even though I thought the presentation was a bit weird, as there were pieces of toast dredged in the liquid. When I tried it, there seemed to be all the flavors described, including rose almond milk, tutti frutti, and vanilla ice cream. It tasted creamy, sweet, and unique, with the ingredients mingling well together. Service was definitely lacking. When the bill came, it was listed as a dessert, so I inquired about it. The waiter responded that they did not have the beverage available, so served me something else instead. This really irked me that the waiter would knowingly do this without mentioning up front that they were out of the beverage, allowing me the free choice to either order another drink or not get one at all. The waiter then told us it would be taken off the bill, but a different waiter came out to inform us that the manager would not allow that. While the food was actually pretty good, this was a very upsetting experience and I will not be returning. At least this taught me to always speak up when I have a doubt or question about anything I order.

The order took about an hour to arrive, which was longer than predicted, so that was irritating, but the food was great! We started by sharing the Curry Puff appetizer, which came with 5 of the fried dumplings! It was a very generous amount, and the stuffing of curried chicken, potatoes, onions and carrots was phenomenal! Their curry sauce was so aromatic, sweet, and flavorful. The puffs were deep-fried, though, so, naturally, there was some grease. For my entree, I ordered the Pad See Ew with Chicken. I thought their version was very well-executed. It was more savory than it was sweet, and the broccoli was fresh and crisp. I will say that the chicken was rather dry, but, otherwise, it was good a meal. I heard positive reviews about the Drunken Noodles with Chicken as well, though specifying "Hot" as the spice level meant it came with a ton of visible chilis, so beware that they are very serious about their heat! I was glad that we added Roi Siam back into our Thai food delivery rotation, and we will definitely be ordering from them again!

The food is great (tasty and delicious) and the service is very good…read more Ambiance is nice too. I have been coming here more than 5 times, this is my spot for Vietnamese food. I highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

$75+ for the tiniest portions we have ever gotten. Called for takeout and picked up ourselves - not…read moredoordash or uber eats. Left a $10 cash tip which we regret after opening the food. Stuffed calamari ($25) - there were literally 3 in the dish. 3. I ate one and you're seeing everything else we got. Beef rendang ($24) - 4 pieces of beef. Not wagyu... Pork w spring rolls on vermicelli ($24) - reasonable enough portion but very overcooked. Should be a staple of any Viet spot so idk what they're doing here Would call them right now but they close at 9.... on a Saturday.... I will update this review if I'm able to reach them during biz hours for a resolution but this is easily the most disappointing meal I've had all year. Save your hard earned money and go to Ela's greek or literally anywhere else on this block, even Dominos. EDIT: Went in next day and spoke to a manager, only mentioned portion size and showed the picture, didn't get a chance to say anything about everything being overcooked. He had clearly heard these complaints about portion size before, because he immediately launched into saying the cut of beef + tendon they use for the rendang yields that as their standard portion size. He refunded the calamari. I still won't be going back and would never recommend this place, but wanted to acknowledge the resolution. Also my husband unfortunately wasn't there to speak to them, but he's been in restaurants for 25 years and knows they served chuck, not a fancy cut...
