We had adopted a mixed breed cattle dog from Rocket Dog Rescue some 7 years ago. Her name was Sally. She was all love, had the best ears, and was the heartbeat of our family. And yet she came along with a whole host of metabolic and immune-related challenges that started out small, including chronic ear infections and skin allergies, but eventually grew into a mix of high blood pressure, digestive issues, and eventually chronic kidney disease in the final years. Most of her health care issues were kept at bay for years but they all of course progressed as progressive illnesses do. She was beautiful, magical, and ours. But from every nearly every visit we had at WPV, from the way each pet was checked in for their visit, I often got the impression that every pet was treated as if they were the most beautiful, magical, and much loved. And that's honestly hard to do when you have a waiting room full of patients and their people, or you're sitting patiently in a modest lot of parked cars during the Covid years and your pet can't exactly tell you what's wrong. Each pet was listed by name as if he or she were on a special guest list for each service day, and we were all in attendance. And once you got into the exam room, all histories were read in advance of each exam, not only by the vet but the team members as well. Can't tell you how many times I went to other vets and how often they would mix up names, accounts, or confuse suggested approaches for care. It didn't matter if it was Dr. Wheeler or someone else from her incredible team. There was always follow up and respectful dialogue. They literally are the whole pet vet which means looking at all the factors (both big and small) that make your pet the unique being that they are. It means also having the integrity (when the data may be unclear) to know when and if to reach outside of your practice for a second opinion when it just might benefit the pet. And knowing how to communicate with pet owners with the goal being consensus through understanding. Sadly our pets don't live as long as we do, and of course we always want more time. But eventually time compounds into just days and minutes in a wink of an eye when it comes down to it. As much as Sally hated all the ear checks and treatments, I have to say acupuncture was surprisingly her favorite reason for coming to WPV and seeing Dr. Wheeler, sometimes ending in snores. It often helped stabilize her. She would go straight for the mat when it was acupuncture time, calmly settle in, and let us know that she was ready. She was always in the gentlest of hands. They always somehow found a way, an approach or therapy that worked best for our pet and often had the long game in mind. And somehow at some level I think she knew it too. WPV offers a wide range of pet care services beyond the basic, including diet planning, allergy treatment, physical therapy and rehabilitation, dental care, as well as acupuncture and a wide range of other alternative therapies. They also partner with other community groups to help with some of the larger issues impacting pet life and well being. It has been nearly 6 months now since our sweet girl crossed the rainbow bridge-and yes it's taken this long for me to even process how it all came to be. Though we ultimately made the hard choice to say farewell through an at-home service named Restful Paws so that she could pass peacefully at home in her usual happy place on the couch with her people, WPV promptly sent a handwritten card soon afterwards with words of kindness upon hearing of her passing through RP. There was even a condolence letter from Dr. Wheeler's alma mater about a gift in her name from the WPV team towards ongoing efforts for new preventions and treatments for conditions that continue to threaten the overall quality of our pets' lives. Most unexpected and appreciated. There is no greater honor in her memory. Thank you Dr. Wheeler for caring for Sally over the years. You do amazing work, and your community is lucky to have you.

From the initial phone conversations, I was given the impression that this clinic was welcoming, supportive, and genuinely invested in the well-being of my eight-month-old German Shepherd. However, once I arrived in person, the tone and treatment shifted dramatically. What was presented as straightforward care quickly became layered with unexpected and costly add-on fees that were never clearly disclosed beforehand. The experience felt structured to create trust upfront, only for essential information and services to be reframed later in a way that prioritized billing over transparency. The conduct of management--specifically Joe (manager) and Jenn (assistant manager)--was particularly concerning. Both displayed a dismissive and condescending attitude, speaking down to clients rather than communicating with professionalism or empathy. On one occasion, I personally witnessed front desk staff being reprimanded and spoken to harshly in front of me, which was uncomfortable and inappropriate in a client-facing environment. Most alarming was the refusal of assistance while I was present with my dog and seeking help, allegedly due to staffing limitations. A wellness clinic should not invite clients in under assurances of care only to later deny support because of inadequate veterinary coverage. In contrast, the front desk employees, MIA, Ava and Ashley were consistently kind and professional, despite being placed in difficult and clearly demoralizing situations. Trust is everything when it comes to veterinary care. Unfortunately, this clinic's leadership demonstrated poor communication, questionable transparency, and a troubling focus on revenue rather than patient well-being. I strongly encourage pet owners to ask very detailed questions and consider alternative clinics before committing to care here. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Whole Pet Vet and feel it is important to share my concerns to warn other pet owners. Wait....Having said that.... It gets worse..... My eight-month-old German Shepherd was seen at this clinic, and throughout the process I experienced a troubling lack of communication, follow-through, and professionalism. I repeatedly attempted to contact the clinic for updates and clarification regarding my dog's care and diagnosis, often calling more than ten times before receiving any response. Even then, many of my requests went unanswered. A diagnosis of possible elbow dysplasia was delivered without adequate explanation, guidance, or timely follow-up, leaving me anxious and confused about my young dog's health. The lack of communication during such a serious situation felt negligent and deeply distressing. Additionally, I was initially led to believe that I would be shown how to administer Adequan injections to my dog during a visit. This was presented as a straightforward and supportive process. However, once in the room, I was informed by the assistant manager, Jenn, that she would refuse to demonstrate how to give a simple subcutaneous injection unless I paid an additional $49 fee. This was never clearly communicated beforehand and felt opportunistic, especially given the emotional state of a concerned pet owner. It was difficult not to feel that financial gain was prioritized over patient care. The veterinarians and management, including Joe and Jenn, did not demonstrate compassion, accountability, or integrity in my experience. I do want to note that the front desk staff--specifically Mia, Ashley, and Ava--were consistently kind, professional, and helpful. Unfortunately, their efforts were overshadowed by the actions and decisions of the clinic's leadership and medical staff. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic. Pet owners deserve transparency, timely communication, and care that prioritizes the well-being of animals--not unexpected fees or unanswered calls. I strongly encourage others to seek veterinary care elsewhere.

Dr. Cecile and dental technician, Franz, along with all the staff are so warm and personable. George's tail was wagging the entire time. The facility was clean and the energy was calm. There is no need to pay for expensive dental cleaning for your pet. Unless there is a need for extracting a tooth why would we place our precious pet under anesthesia? The whole process was less than 30 minutes and cost only $268. The icing on the cake was the written chart (with graphic of his teeth) that identified specific areas to focus on with follow-up care instructions that was provided to us. Top notch care!

I was told his back was "a train wreck" and he'd likely need spinal surgery, I instead opted to give Petlight a try first. Best decision ever! He recovered fully after about 10 sessions. Fast forward this month, 7 years later, when he had another IVDD episode and couldn't stand or walk well. I brought him right back to PetLight! The staff is very kind and it's evident that they truly care about the pets who are lucky enough to be patients! Suzie (who is beyond sweet) remembered us... 7 years later! Dr. Cecile Greenleaf is now overseeing patient care and is very attentive and goes the extra mile to assess and care for my dog. On one visit for light therapy, she noticed his breathing was off and he wasn't getting air in one lung. Upon this observance, an emergency visit showed he had aspiration pneumonia, which I wouldn't have known if not for Dr. Greennleaf! Upon our next visit to Petlight, she had a nebulizer ready with healing essential oils especially for Oliver to help his breathing. I can't recommend Petlight more highly to anyone whose dog or cat is experiencing IVDD, joint, arthritis or an array of many other ailments.

More key points I learned: (6) 50-60°F Cold compresses for 2 minutes, then (5) 105°F hot for 2 minutes. Start with cold & end with cold. This gets the blood moving in & out of the area. Warmth is inflammatory, that's why you need to start & end with cold. I bought a bunch of microwavable heat/cold pads. I would put the hot pads in a pot of hot water while using the cold pads to heat them back up. Make sure the urine stays clean looking (bladder emptied 2 or 3 times a day & antibiotics if an infection develops), the skin & genitals get cleaned & dried well to or not get a skin infection. Females - don't cross-contaminate by bringing feces bacteria to the genitals. Infection = sepsis Products I found helpful: cat waterless shampoo, A+D diaper rash ointment & skin protectant (vet recommended because no toxic zinc in it) , & Honey Pot anti-itch wipes.

A few months ago, Lola suffered a ruptured disc in her neck and needed emergency surgery. It was an extremely stressful and frightening experience for us, especially after watching her suffer from excruciating pain for weeks. Dr. Vitale immediately brought Lola in for an MRI to verify what she correctly suspected was the problem and performed Lola's surgery right away. We truly could not have hoped for a better outcome. The surgery was a huge success, and today Lola appears to be completely pain free and is back to her happy, normal self. Seeing her comfortable and enjoying life again means more to us than we can possibly express. We cannot thank Dr. Vitale enough for what she did for Lola and for our family. She gave our dog her quality of life back, and we will always be incredibly grateful. Dr. Vitale is truly our hero, and we feel so fortunate that Lola was in her care. Took 3 days for a callback. Finally spoke to a PT specialist, confirmed clearly (multiple times): underwater treadmill therapy only. Was told it would be a 30 min, $241.16/session. Got scheduled. Told it could take two or three water therapy sessions for pet to be comfortable. Appointment canceled within a day (staff illness, understandable) -- told to call back immediately to rebook. I did, repeatedly. Same voicemail runaround. Days later got a callback only to be told all PT nurses were out and I still couldn't reschedule. Dismissive and frustrating. I gave up. A few days later, got an apology call. Gave them one more shot. Rebooked, confirmed again by phone: water therapy only. Day of: Therapists asked our goals -- I said water therapy, build strength from dogs TPLO surgery. They ran a battery of PT exercises instead. I assumed it was a warm-up. At 11:22, 40 minutes in, I asked when he'd get in the tank, which is why we are here, which is what was scheduled! The lead therapist said they no longer have enough time to fill the tank. I was shocked!! We booked, and confirmed, one specific service. They ran a different session entirely and then ran out the clock. I expressed my frustration. What were we doing here? This was not the appointment we scheduled. It was obvious the therapists knew, and it became clear I was going to be charged for a longer session than initially requested. I asked for the office manager. Spoke to the office manager. Did not pay for their lack of service and their incredibly poor communication skills. Read the other reviews here before you book. I started bringing my dog here to address his luxating patella. We came up with a plan to start shockwave therapy and water treadmill therapy and supplements. We've had two appointments out of the five of the package we purchased. He's much more comfortable with all the staff and treatments now. The first two shockwave treatments are done with the doctors to assess and develop a treatment plan, and the following treatments are done with a certified therapist. Everyone has been so kind to my dog that he loves coming here. And not just for the human grade cheese he's given to do the exercises!! We were also given a comprehensive List of physical therapy movements and stretches to do at home. It's too soon to tell if the treatment is working well, but we have high hopes with this clinic! It takes us about 3 hours of traffic to get to and from this clinic, but it's such a gem. They provide towels and blowdryers and snacks for the water treadmill work. We opted to not try the injection as my dog is scared of shots, who isn't really?! The doctor was so kind to provide us with a another supplement option, which we have started. They check in to see how he's doing at the start of every appointment and tailor the session to his needs. We opted to not go through insurance, but they can help out with paperwork if you do so. Well worth it to learn non invasive techniques to rehab your beloved pups. Can't wait to see my little baby become stronger with these amazing professionals!
