Moved to the area recently and came to this location for the first time yesterday. I'm used to other locations in FL & CA and this location was SO nice. I even told the nice lady at the front who helped me bring my boxes in. This location stands out as it's super clean and organized. The clothes are nice picks as well and priced super well. The only negative was there wasn't a lot of shoes to look thru- I guess maybe it was just for my kiddos sizes. Definitely will be back! So happy they bought my clothes and gave me $39. Happened upon here when we took my son to LaLaland a few doors down. I was impressed with how neatly the store was organized and the layout. They had a lot of items for sale, in addition to clothes, there were toys, a whole section of books, and things like larger items like baby swings, baby baths, various types of baby seating. Nothing high end, pretty basic stuff which is fine. Only thing was that the amount of girls clothes was like 75% of the clothing racks with wayyyyy less for boys. But I guess that's how it goes lol. The pricing was based on the value of the items, like a kate Quinn onsie was $12 versus something like carters or target, which went for a few bucks. Apparently the phone number associated with the yelp listing doesn't work, otherwise, I'd have called to find out how their consigning works, so I can't speak to that but I'd imagine it's similar to Plato's closet type thing. read more

I feel like I want to share Once upon a child but also totally want to gate keep it for myself. The store itself is very clean and I find that the products are in great condition. I've been fortunate and have even found plenty of items with tags still on! I recently had my first baby and utilize once upon a child for clothing often (people always ask me where I got his outfits and my answer is always here!) brought a bunch of things to sell and when I got home from picking up my items they did not want to buy I realized they never gave me back my sons tricycle that was used once because of course they had it in the back where I couldn't even see it. when I called back and talked to the lady at the front and explained to her I was leaving town for the holidays and can pick it up when I get back after the holidays she said no problem it was our mistake/I also live 40 min away. well come back and they donated my tricycle with no care in the world don't even care how that affects someone no care in the world even by the way they talk about there policy to cover them up and their mistakes called for 3 days now to talk to the owner and nothing sends me a worker to say we donated and nothing you can do about it read more

I took a drive to this plaza to see if I could find a few things for my grandson who was coming to visit. Inside the store, it was pretty crowded and hard to get around the strollers in the shopping aisle. Kids were running around with toys which also made it a little crazy. The sales help was available but they were very busy checking in and cleaning toys. I did not find what I was looking for and honestly, their prices seemed high. I also thought their selection was very redundant and slim pickings unless you wanted clothing which then there were thousands of items of used clothes. Clothes for kids... Once Upon a Child is a chain of stores that deals in gently used clothing for all ages of kids. The concept is simple enough: purchase items that other kids have grown out of and not pay the full cost as you would at a retail location, such as Macy's or Walmart. In practice the selection can be hit or miss as it really depends on time of year, and what others have brought in to sell off. OUaC will also purchase your gently used clothing but beware: just because you paid $26 for it, do not expect to get $20. This works well if you no longer have need for a size of clothes any longer, but you will not be able to make a big chunk of change selling items. Your other options are toss them or donate, so in my mind, even if you got a fraction of the price, you are still ahead. Items are generally arranged by boy or girl, and then by size. Within each size group the clothing is further sorted by color. So, if you are looking for a size 3T green shirt - well, it is a pretty quick search. They have clothes, shoes and even some toys and other kid items. The selection is pretty extensive from what I have seen and they also have clearance sales from time to time (usually geared toward certain styles of clothes such as long pants etc.) There is a membership thing too where you get points based on total dollars spent - then those points turn into discounts at a later time. You will almost always find something you need at a very good price. I found the ladies working here to be super nice / helpful - so not sure why such bad reviews previously. Summing up: great selection of items and fair prices - seriously helpful when you have kids that blow through different sizes clothes. Give it a shot. Parking lot in front. read more

Do not waste your time driving here if you are not local. They barely buy anything you bring in they lie about it. I recently bought a Maclaren stroller from BuyBuy baby within 6 months my son outgrew it and decided to bring it in to sell. Well the lady tells me it is out of date which I know is a lie because I purchased it full price less than a year ago. Places like this have a cap on how much they can buy daily and unfortunately for people who are not locale this means most of your stuff wont be bought. Also the wait times are crazy 3-4 hours for you to purchase nothing of what I brought in. Just a total waste of time. I went recently to sell some childrens' items. Here's list of some of the good & bad: -I went with a car load of stuff and came home with most of it. They don't take any plush stuffed animals, hardly any clothes, and not much of anything else. They only things they liked were toys that were like-new in package and big priced items like jumpers. [bad] -The buying process is kinda a pain in the butt. You have to fill out information in a computer and then it takes the employees a long time to evaluate it. They also say that they do not let you bring items in bags, so little frustrating. I noticed most of the customers who brought in items were frustrated that items were not being bought. [bad] -With electronic toys, they open up the battery compartment and if there is any corrosion dust they reject the item. This was also frustrating and the dust should be inconsequential. Underwriting is a little excessive there. [bad] -The store is mostly clothes. They have a ridiculous amount. The prices I saw did not seem like that great a deal to me compared to retailers like walmart, but I'm not sure what the specialty stores charge. -They underwrite their products basically using computers and the internet similar to pawnshops or other resellers do. They find out the original costs, how old the item is, what the demand is, and what they can sell it for. After that they give you a cut and mark it up for sale. So if they think they can sell something for $5, they might give you $1. -I saw some other reviews where people were complaining about the employees. They were alright, but I did see some of the things they were referring to. Just looking to be more appreciated as a customer. I appreciate the business as a seller and a buyer, but I'm honestly not sure how they stay in business and if the store is profitable. When I was there, four employees were working and only a couple customers came in to buy. In fact, I think more customers were selling than buying. Unless I'm missing something, this place should only have like 2 employees working at a time. Another option to keep the place alive may be relocating to one of those shared indoor markets and just keeping most of their inventory online and either in a garage or in a storage unit/warehouse. I have been to many of the stores in Florida and Georgia and never have I felt discriminated against until I came to this one. I knew the moment I walked in after who I assume is the owner gave me the lowdown on how the store worked that she wasn't going to buy any of the clothes or toys I brought in. She was very matter of factly and quite uppity. I overheard the employees making rude comments about the items they reviewed. It is very offensive and unprofessional to criticize your own customers especially when they are still present in the store! It's a small space and u can hear everything they say at the front desk from the back. I was also very disappointed in their customer service. I clearly needed help on my way out with a tiny baby in tow and multiple items that I would have to go back-and-forth with; they didn't even look up to ask if I needed help or offer to hold the door for me as I struggled getting through with a squirmy child. All I have to say , If you not a people person, then don't go to customer service!!! There is other jobs. I love my son and I bought all toys for him with love. We play with them with love and then, when we ready to pass it to someone else to enjoy , some chubby lady grub it and throw it all over the table. At the end they took about 30 items in average 3-4-5$ each. Count with me $4x30 = 120. Plus baby toilet. Plus horse. Plus clothing... you would think about 150$ right ??? 96!!!!!!! The employees were not friendly and inviting. They all seemed to have a chip on their shoulder. No one greeted us when we walked in or asked if we needed help. Listen, if you don't want to work in a second hand store, then don't, but if you're going to be there than have the decency to be nice. The pricing on the items I needed were fair for second hand. I have shopped here multiple times and never leave without spending $50-$100 (minimum). However, after a comment made by the snarky little girls behind the counter on Thursday 12/26, not sure if I would be back. I asked a question about high chairs and mentioned that I had twins and was swapping the ONE high chair I had between the both of them. When the three girls looked at me and one said a rude comment under her breath and thought I didn't hear. GET RID OF YOUR EMPLOYEES AND HIRE NEW ONES. They will only kill your business. read more

Good selection of toys and clothes. However, DO NOT attempt to sell them anything if you can't wait for hours on end. Twice this week I made the long drive to this store to sell some of my daughters clothing. The first time I was told "maybe they'd be able to process it on Monday or Tuesday." That's interesting since you have to pick up your items the same day otherwise they "donate them" aka put them on hangers and sell them in their store. I signed in today at 3:45pm with a box of about 30 items. The tablet I signed in to said it was a six hour wait! I asked about that and they said no worries it's just one hour. An hour and a half later she asked me if I could come back tomorrow. After hanging out in a plaza with my 22 month old for an hour and a half I opted to NOT drive the hour home, then come back an hour again tomorrow, then drive home the hour again. Worst part about today was that I saw plenty of others come and go while I was there. They were known by the staff though, so they got taken care of much faster than me. Wow. The owner of this OUAC location should be embarrassed by the behavior of these employees. These people are RUDE! They were loudly making rude comments and remarks about the items people had dropped off to sell. They had no qualms about who was listening and were blatantly making nasty comments. I was appalled. They were not friendly when I asked a question and they acted as though they had a major chip on their shoulders. This is a SECOND HAND STORE people, not a fancy boutique. They need to get over themselves. The store itself is organized to some degree but it still felt crammed and impossible to actually look for anything specific. Most things seem overpriced for used children's clothing, shoes and toys. I would personally stay far away from this store. I'd rather spend a couple dollars more for new stuff and get friendly and kind employees without the attitude. I've been to several OUAC locations and this is by far the WORST. read more

I went there strictly to get rid of a bunch of stuff (mostly clothes) that my kids have grown out of. I brought two large tubs full...and just like the other reviewer said, they didn't take much of it! Only about 1/4 (if that) of one of the tubs. I was surprised because a lot of it was really nice. Brand names, excellent condition, and many even new with tags! I had taken a lot of time meticulously examining every piece, ironing anything that was wrinkled, and placed them flat and neatly in the container (as they request). So I was bummed, and wish I wouldn't have spent so much time doing that! A couple of the ladies working there were a bit rude to me when I asked some questions. The others were really nice though, and even helped bring my tubs to the car for me..since I had my hands full with two little ones. I appreciated that. But again, I was really hoping for them to lighten the load! The place itself looks clean and more organized than some of the other Once Upon A Child stores I've been to. This location is way out in the boonies though. It feels like forever getting there. As you get closer to the area, you need to drive slowly. There are horse crossing signs everywhere. I guess it's cool though, to pass by fancy estates with their own ranches and horses. One can only dream. Lol. The shopping plaza looks nice, there are a few other stores, restaurants, and a small movie theater. The Wellington Green mall is about ten minutes from this location. I was also told there is a really nice park nearby (Tiger Shark Park), but I didn't get a chance to check that out. I guess I would visit this location again if I needed to shop and/or when I have more time to spend. read more

Decent place...I will say I brought a bunch of boy clothes and toys and they only took the brand new items I had in there and only gave me .35 each thing and told me other stupid reasons why they couldn't take the other clothes than I came back about a month later with more clothes plus the same clothes I brought last time and they took 50% of my items like what thought you couldn't take them. I was looking around the store and saw a few things I liked and they were so dirty like filled with dirt not cleaned and hair all over them so I put them down. Every time I come here with stuff they always take the brand new items and stuff then on the bottom as they are hiding them so I won't realize. read more

They did not seem bothered by me being in the store. One staff member even mention that they are the only people in the store on a Saturday morning however another noted that there is one customer. I drove all the way from Fort Lauderdale with 4 bags of gently used clothes and they only accepted 3 pieces for $4.65. I was not impressed as to how little they took and the reasons as to why they didn't accept. They also don't give you a receipt because the items go straight into their inventory. They were nice but I wouldn't drive that great of lengths. I spent more on gas than what I got. I'd rather take my items to goodwill who accepts almost everything. read more

I love this place. They took most of my items which was reasonable because some of my clothes were overly loved and some discoloration. They will not go through your items if it's close to closing time so you'll have to come back the day but that's perfectly fine. Loving staff they treat you like family . It's a nice sized store and a good place to go for some gently used items. I've sold a few things there and they are very picky about what they accept, which I understand. Some good items are rejected because they have either have a surplus they can't sell or they are seasonal items so I get it. They do low ball you with offers on everything accept, most times big ticket items I sell on my own. You can find some good deals if you dig but not all their prices are thrifty. I purchased a walking push toy for my child that I thought was a good price. After getting home I found the same exact toy, brand new, for the same price at Walmart. Now I do my research before I buy anything from there to make sure it's really a deal. read more

Went there this morning just 20 mins after they opened and waited an hour to have my items looked at. While I waited, I looked around the store and the prices for some items especially the clothes where a little high. For a used formal girls dress they were charging $12.50 but I brought in a brand new Ralf Lauren dress with tags and they wanted to give me $4 dollars for it. I'm convinced that there approach is to collect 2/3rds profit maybe more. For all of the new items I bought I basically got $1-3 for each one. You have to ask them as they go though your clothes what they will give you cause they don't tell you or give you itemized receipt. They just tell you in total they what they will offer you for all of your things. FYI they don't accept baby cameras, car seat covers and things without a size tag. I felt bad the workers were really overwhelmed, the store had more consignments than purchases. I think this place is good for baby gear and some used toys but the used clothes prices are a little high especially when you can go to Walmart and get new clothes for almost the same price. They should also take appointments for consignments so workers aren't overwhelmed and people aren't waiting forever. Also if you don't bring your items in a box or container they won't accept them. read more

Love this place. Lots of variety, friendly employees and an active social media page allows you to see recent things brought in so you can hurry down and pick them up. We called and they held a play set for us until the end of the business day and we got it for quite a steal. I have heard of this store for some time now. I finally made the trip from Miami to Wellington. What a waste of time!!!! First the employees are not the most courteous. Curt and short with clients from what I saw and read from previous reviews. I brought in two very neatly organized containers of clothing and shoes. My items ranged from toddler to children. High priced items!!! Designer items mostly with no wear!!! Seriously, nothing at all. Once I was sent a text that my items were ready I went back in for $70!!! That's what they gave me for my items. I was a little hesitant to come here due to the reviews I read but I went today and it was a nice experience. I was greeted by Tiffany and she helped me as it was the first time I was there. I did not sell any clothes I sold a bassinet and some other items. Didn't get a lot of money for it but it was more than if I had donated it or given to a friend. Don't waste your time! Arrogant staff. Told me to leave my things and they will call me to pick up. They automatically said the ride-on train had corrosion inside the battery area, which was not true along with all of the other electronic devices. There was nothing in the battery area. These electronics were only 2 years old!! There were 2 V Tech toys they offered $3.00 total for. There was an American Girl doll that they said the head was off and they would have been interested in. The head was on this morning when I put the doll in the bag!?!?
