As the owner explained, the store is a mix of old (thrift) and new (gift) items plus she has several artists that make items specifically for the store or that she features. Usually there is a plaque/sign up by each artist's works. We browsed through and saw there's a little bit of everything -- clothing, household goods, art, cook books, jewelry, soaps, accessories, and antiques/collectibles, too. The store is small, so the half dozen folks who were there when we were took up a lot of space between the aisles. We didn't find anything here to buy today, but we enjoyed seeing what she has to offer.

The staff welcomed us in the second we opened the door, was extremely friendly, and helped our 11-year-old track down a book I was looking for while we looked at the 50% off shelf. I got 3 new, still in plastic, Batgirl (New 52) hardcovers for 50% off the cover price - which is amazing. We will probably never be in WPB again, but if we are, you can bet we're going to be stopping by.

Barely grunted at me when approaching the register and at checkout he rang me up and then asked if I was a subscriber. I said no, and I asked what that was. He said if I pulled books with them I would have received 10% off. Which I would have done! But he asked me AFTER he ran my card. It should be mentioned, the store is very well put together and has great character. They do have a lot of back issues and high end back issues, BUT they are priced well beyond what they should be. Worth a one time trip, but probably only a few times a year beyond that.

I was in the area on a Saturday afternoon so I took advantage to visit an area I am in love with. This was the first time I noticed the Day by Day Shoppe and the inviting outside made me want to peek in. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Will who it turns out is quite an artist. The store specializes in a mixture of new and used items. It has a vintage vibe that I adore. Will wants to upcycle and encourage people to find a creative new life for items they might otherwise throw away. From used items he creates amazing one of a kind pieces. I ended up purchasing a flower feeder for my garden made from a plate and a vase. I am going to lay bird food on it or fruit for the butterflies. I also bought a darling butterfly girl to hang in the tree above my butterfly garden. My new finds inspired me to go out and finally weed the area. In addition to wonderful accents for your garden, the shop has all kinds of home decor and accessories at very reasonable prices. Items range from just a few dollars to several hundred. I love Will's eye for design. Pot holders and dish towels for your kitchen, jewelry, glassware, china, bags, and tiny hanging gardens for your windows were just some of the items I coveted. I will definitely be back to do some holiday shopping this year. I also have my eye on a certain light fixture that Will created. Another reason to visit the store in addition to the one of a kind items is that Northwood is having a special event to help the Bahamas. The merchants in the area are collecting supplies and donating money to provide relief to the Bahamas. 10 percent of my purchase went to help support the Bahamas. So buy cool things and do good at the same time by shopping Northwood this weekend.

Today, I returned to the beach to use the exact same umbrella and the hook that holds the umbrella open snapped! I went back to the store to hopefully return or exchange it since the same associate was there. He remembered me. The manager was there also and attempted to help me fix it. Didn't work. She was so nice and pleasant and offered to give me another one at a discounted price. I declined since I was convinced i could fix the broken one. And then, she went above and beyond to give me a used one from the back. When I say ABOVE NORMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, THIS IS IT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I love what they do for many communities in the area - they provide a space for artists to display and sell their works, they reduce the amount of trash that goes into landfills, they provide materials for just about anyone to make their own art (including and especially teachers!), educate youth and adults on how to make use of the supplies they offer, and they sell "thrift" type items at a great value that run the gamut from puzzles to vases. What I love most is that I can donate goods that I may have thought about tossing, because someone's garbage is another person's art supply! It's worth going to Resource Depot frequently, because you truly never know what you're going to find or how you're going to be inspired. For instance, I just got a string of lights that I want to hang in a dark corner of my home. I found this amazing ball of thick string and webbed colorful materials that I've now made into a chandelier. Their postcards are also so cool, and inspiring me to make other projects. The staff is always so nice and helpful, and when I've looked for something specific for a project, I've always found someone that is willing to help me out.
