Since 1999, the non-profit Resource Depot in Industry Alley, West Palm Beach, has been helping creative minds bring their visions to life using recycled materials. They take in items that would otherwise end up in landfills and make them available to people who can repurpose them. Resource Depot furthers its mission to leave the planet a little cleaner through workshops, events, and community partnerships. Their Pam Sartory GalleRE showcases local artists' upcycled artwork, while the Materials Marketplace and TrewasuRE Boutique offer repurposed items for sale. Their goal is simple yet impactful: provide materials to those who can use them while promoting sustainable practices and creative expression. Over the past 25 years, Resource Depot has kept an estimated 95+ tons of materials out of landfills, all while raising environmental awareness. As an educator with a limited--or sometimes non-existent--budget, a place like Resource Depot is a lifeline. Schools often can't provide enough supplies for students, and what little remains in the resource closet has to stretch for weeks or months. In the thrift area, I found an incredible variety of affordable items: games, holiday decorations, books, home goods, art supplies, faux florals, ribbons, artwork, and more. The paint alone was worth the trip! If you want to see a child light up, just offer them the chance to paint--fortunately, they had the Crayola washable kind I needed. Shopping is flexible and budget-friendly: a small bin is $5, a large bin is $10, and if you purchase eight large bins, you get one free. Teachers also receive a 15% discount on regularly priced items (not bins). These are prices anyone can afford. Resource Depot is truly a gem, and Palm Beach County is lucky to have such a creative, sustainable, and community-focused resource. read more

This is such a great sustainable place to shop for pre loved items. They have a great selection of crafts, books, toys, paint and any thing craft related. I came for the holiday shopping! They have a great selection of party, office and craft supplies at unbeatable prices. They have art/craft/recycled materials you can buy by weight. Resource Depot is nothing less than amazing. We are so lucky to have this 'resource' open to the public- and SO easy to get to- between I-95 and Dixie Highway on Belvedere Road. They are pros at turning waste into art! This non-profit organization houses a 'free store,' where you can find an amazing amount of eclectic finds. Need items for an art project? This is your place. The 'free store' is collecting all kinds of random things that would otherwise be thrown out. Save the earth and get your creativity on = yes! Love Resource Depot! A family member of mine performed an internship at RD a few years back but it wasn't until a Yelp event that I was reminded of what a wonderful asset to the community RD is! Resource Depot takes previously owned and new items and offers them to the community at a very reasonable price. I've seen numerous crafting supplies, party good like decorations and plates, holiday decor, school supplies, and home goods. On my last trip, I found a vintage glass butter dish. Items can be purchased individually and also through a bin sale which features two different sized bins priced at $5 or $10. There are some specials for teachers. Resource Depot also offers classes for folks of all ages. The best part of RD is that I can donate items that I no longer use to RD so they don't end up in the landfill. I continue to be impressed w Resource Depot. It is my first stop when I am looking for crafting or office supplies. Last time I bought fabric, thread, bias tape, file folders, and paper. In the past I have bought beads and jewelry making supplies, storage containers and even wallpaper. You never know what you will find! I urge people to donate there. One beneficiary category is teachers They will use lots of things you donate for craft and art supplies and for their classrooms. Resource Depot takes almost anything but food, clothes and furniture. You can schedule a drop off and their website says what they take. Finally they run programs for children and adults often on how to reuse something and turn it into an art project (like collages). I came here for a Yelp event a few months ago and have since completely fallen in love with Resource Depot. The best way to describe the store is a thrift store for crafting and educational supplies. I've been on DIY kick since moving to a new home and Resource Depot has been helping me so much with all my little projects. There are two size bins you can use to shop. A large yellow recycle bin is $10 or the small blue bin is $5. I have been grabbing the blue bin lately and filling it with paint, fabric, styrofoam, ribbon, yarn, tiles, craft foam, felt, and so much more. Of course selection will depend on what has been donated so go in with an open and creative mind. There is also a space for more newer items for sale. There are some definite great finds in there and everything is priced per item. So if you don't find what you needed in the resource side, definitely check out that area as well! read more

If only we had a Resource Depot near us! We need more businesses doing good for our communities and the environment. The Depot takes your unwanted recyclables and resells them for people's everyday and arts & crafts needs. If you are a teacher or have a child going back to school you need to check this place out. They have a great selection of books, school & art supplies, party supplies, handmade gifts, glassware and so much more. My son spent almost an hour constructing JunkOgrams and using my phone to take pictures of them. Where else can you grab a $5 or $10 basket and fill it with things to stimulate your creativity? I spoke with one of the women that works here and she spent the time to fill me in on what they do on a daily, but also told me about the Yelp Elite events, a recent interview with the news and the classes that are taught upstairs. I wanted to pick up 1 thing this Saturday. I came in at 1:59. I guess they close at 2:00. The door was unlocked though and it wasn't 2:00. As soon as I walked in someone said, "Nooo" I guess because they wanted to go home. I asked if I could just get paper real quick and 2 people responded rudely, "No". Another said they were closed. They were all young people just wanting to go home and not caring about customer service. I'll make sure not to bother them again and won't be returning. read more

Went on an errand to see if our Shul needed new fire extinguishers or if the one I had with me would pass inspection. The people in the office were very nice, friendly and professional! The Rabbi was happy to know our extinguishers are good for a year and then it's time for new ones!!! I only got a little lost, so if you're like me and not used to driving around industrial areas, you'll be ok. You'll most likely just need to make a u-turn and there it'll be. Thank you so much!
