Our family has shopped at this business for over 10 years. As of today, never again. The last few visits have not been ideal from a customer service perspective. Every time we attempt to drop off our items to sell back while we shop for new items, the staff will argue that they can't take them before they've even viewed our items to see what they will buy back. Today, the employee tells me, "Y'all gotta wait five hours!" Even though the sign-in kiosk shows a 2-hour wait time, the employee tells me I am wrong and that the kiosk is broken. Besides the lousy, unaccommodating staff, the overall dirty windows and uncleanliness of the entire establishment, and the smell of marijuana that permeates your nose from the woman at the cash register, I would highly recommend shopping elsewhere for your child's clothing. This place sucks and you can get a much better value elsewhere without the dirty experience. read more

Once Upon a Child is my go to spot for children's clothing shopping. The majority of clothes are preloved (in good condition), but there are some brand new items with tags sprinkled in the inventory. The store is well organized by gender, size and style. Specific categories are typically highlighted at the front of the store or at the end caps. All of the pricing is great and they often offer sales throughout the year. Additionally they have a rewards club which is totally worth joining for various coupons. Recently I started selling some of my kid's clothes and toys back to Once Upon a Child. The process is easy, you drop off you items and check in online. The team then goes through your items and comes up with a bulk price for what they want to purchase. You can either stay in the store as they review, or get a text / call back. They do require same day pick up of cash / rejected items. The amount they pay you seems low - you could probably get much more on facebook, but it's quick and easy. read more

Wow! This place is enormous, but very well organised so even on my first trip I was able to easily find the sizes I was looking for. The aisles are pretty narrow, so you find yourself squeezing past other shoppers a lot. I thought the prices were very fair, And since my first trip, I've been getting a lot of coupon offers, so it seems like you can get some real bargains here. The merchandise was all in great condition - it looks like they're picky about what they take, but it results in lots of great product on the shelf. The toy section was pretty picked over, but I got some really really nice books for $1 each. I decided to come here as I was tired of paying $10-$15 for jeans that my daughter was going to wear for 3 months and then move on. The selection was amazing. I have heard some say that the selection wasn't exactly what they were looking for at that particular time. I will say that it is most likely due to seasonal demands as the stock is extremely large in this location. Newborn all the way up is organized and neatly displayed on multiple hanging racks. The store was clean and the employees were working extremely hard. They have clothes, toys, shoes, new bottles, and carriers/strollers and so forth. The prices were great. I was able to walk out with 8 pairs of "like new" pants and a pair of Nike shoes for $36 even. The pants were mainly from Children's Palace, so the quality is definitely there. I do recommend washing before putting anything on your children though as you don't know the last time it has been washed. read more

This place is much larger than I thought it would be and full of nice, quality items for babies and children. Great prices and on Tuesdays if you have their reusable bag, you get a discount on your entire order. They have more than just clothing: books, shoes and other items that kids use. Only reason I'm giving this place a 3/5 rating is because of my poor encounter with a specific employee. I'm new to the process of selling items so when I came in at 4:15ish to get my order, I went back at the area for drop off. I was unsure of where to go. One of the employees that was at register 1 asked me if I needed any help. She was a thin hispanic female about 5'6", black hair, young in age. I thought I was in line at the moment so I told her no I'm ok. There was only one person in front of me at the time and I thought she was a customer. She is a light skinned, African-American, overweight female, about 5'5", wearing a black brown white flannel sweater with short hair wearing a ponytail. After like 2min of standing around I asked the lady in front of me if she was in line and she said, "no, the cash register is over there," in a barking loud tone. I looked at her uncomfortably and confused because I wasn't expecting an employee to talk to me in such a brash tone. I told her she came off rude and she immediately became defensive telling me no she didn't repeatedly. I proceeded to the register and was helped by another employee who was pleasant and welcoming. I decided to ask the lady in the flannel for her name and she told me, "I don't have one," I was blown away by her defensiveness and told her she's reason this business probably have issues and she would be the reason why I would give OUAC Maple Shade a bad review, she replied which, "I don't care." Her crappy customer service is the only reason I won't give this place a 5/5. The turn in process was ok, could use better direction by the employees when a customers comes in for drop off and pick up. On top of that whole scene, she continued to talk about the situation to a fellow employee in the back while I was literally standing 15ft across from them. I couldn't believe her unprofessionalism. All that work just to receive a bad experience and $37 dollars for a huge loads of clothes was not at all worth it. Mind you, a LOT of the clothes I turned in were either worn once or not at all and I was told there were stains or had a worn look...bulls***! Sell your clothes through Facebook marketplace and avoid OUAC. read more

I was told by a manager yesterday that I could bring 2 bags of clothes and 2 bags of shoes as she's and toys were up to 15 bags. I drive all the way here and get told it's 2 bags per clothes and shoes. And I even said it was the manager that I spoke with and the people said I highly doubt she told you that. Things here have definitely changed. I believe the location was for sale, so maybe it's the new ownership. The aren't taking buys everyday. So you may go there and find out they won't take your stuff. If you call no one will answer and the voicemail is full. You will need to go before noon mid week or at opening on a weekend. The wait is 5+ hours. Their check in area is PACKED with stuff. I've shopped here many times since they opened and NEVER seen it like this. Either they are taking too much or not getting through it fast enough. What's interesting is with all that stuff, 2 days later and there weren't any new items on the rack in my son's size. Buying: The best time to go is when they have sales going on. Otherwise, a lot of the prices are stupid. I've even seen clothes that still have the original price tag and OUAC charges more! Selling: I honestly don't know why people like selling here. I mean, it's great I can get deals during their sales thanks to people selling, but they give you PENNIES on the dollar. I brought in a load of sleepers and they gave me 50 cents each. They sell sleepers for $8-12. I also brought in some little girl sweater jackets and they said they wouldn't take them because they weren't a complete outfit. Um, hello, they were never a complete outfit!! They didn't believe me. I said that there are jackets all over on the racks without pants. They said, "Oh, that's from the last owner." Seriously, there's still stuff from the last owner?? Judging from my experience and reading other reviews, it appears they make rules up. I'd give their sales 4-stars (not 5 because I do like that they sale stained clothes). 3-stars when they don't have their sales (although you can still find a few good prices if you hunt long enough). I like the clothes but only dress clothes and at times coats/jackets. Everything else isn't worth it. You can buy it on sell for that price new. The quality isn't great on the toys or shoes. I only tried to sell once today and they just said it was stuff that didn't sell well and gave me $5 for brand new Nike airmax shoes. I only recommend dress clothes and coats which you may have to check back for. I feel like I get better deals at the Goodwill stores especially on $1 Sundays. read more

This place is baby/kid clothing NIRVANA. I went there in search of a holiday dress for our 4 year old to wear for about 3 hours on Christmas Eve. I hate paying $30-$40 for a dress she will wear once, for just a few hours. I knew I was in the right place when I walked up to the entrance, and saw many high-quality strollers (think Graco) for sale for between $20-$30. I went in, and the clothing is super organized, first by size, and then by color. Lots of high-quality stuff, from name brands like Gap Kids, Gymboree, Children's Place, etc. - all at bargain-basement prices! When I asked one of the friendly and helpful staff people where I might find a dress for the holidays, she directed me to a whole section of them! I ended up with a gorgeous velvet holiday dress for $6.50, 2 pairs of leggings for $3.50 each (one of which still had original tags on it for $29.50!), a pretty plaid tunic top for $3.50, and a lacy shrug to put over dresses for $8.50. That's right, I left with 5 items for just under $25 including tax! They have tons of other items besides clothes - accessories, shoes, and tons of other baby items - carriers, swings, and anything else you could want or need. I got a few dollars, not only a waste of my time, a waste of gas, even though im only 10 min from this store. I went in to try to sell a stroller. I checked in & there was only one person ahead of me in the queue & the approximate wait time was 5-10mins, so I decided to wait. There were 4 people working. About 5 mins goes by & I see one of the girls looking at/assessing my stroller. I continue walking around the store & figure they're looking up a price or whatever it is they do to determine what they would give me for it. 45 MINUTES LATER... now the place is getting busy. I found a book I wanted to purchase & hung out by the counter. A girl asks if I'm ready to check out & I said, "Yeah, I'm also waiting to hear about my stroller". Turns out they didn't want to buy it & I wasted 45 minutes of my life waiting & chasing my toddler around a store. When a store makes their customer feel like they are doing them a favor, I can only imagine how successful they will be in the long run. I love the idea of giving children's clothes and gear a second chance at life. Especially when they out grow everything so quickly. The first time I checked this place out I was looking for some fleece sleepers and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a weekday and not very busy. I even inquired about how to sell my items in an effort to be prepared for when I got the energy to bring in the piles and piles of clothes and baby gear I had collecting dust in my attic. They handed me a little flyer that was helpful and so I set out to tackle what I saw as a big project a few weeks later. After spending the entire day going through, organizing by size and sex I put the clothes into bags and boxes and brought them in. This was after I had checked the website to confirm the time they open and closed. I loaded my car up headed over and went inside with just one bag and a box. Since this was my first time selling I asked one of the girls at the counter where I should put my items. Unfortunately I was instantly greeted with a look of "ugh" and then stated I need to put them on the counter and wait. With the counter full I ask if it was ok to put some of the other containers I still have in the car on the ground by the counter. She then begins to instruct me on the "rules". All of a sudden there are all of these requirements, none stated on the websites, flyer or even posted in the store. It starts with only two containers. I ask her to clarify since there are clearly others with more than two and she says well bags, tubs, etc. Then she goes on to say only 2 20 gallon tubs. I'm confused since my two containers are very small and wouldn't even fill 1 20 gallon tub so I try to clarify whether or not it's just two containers or the total of what 2 20 gallon tubs can hold. She then stares at me blankly and says "what do you mean". I finally combine what I can in one box and bag and leave to park my car. Upon entering the store one employee had their back to me but is clearly expressing her views on me as a customer. Well "hello, I'm right here!" Then I'm told they don't take this anymore or that or there is this rule,etc. And I ask why none of this is indicated on their website and am told " I don't know, I guess the owner hasn't done it yet". WOW then I'm told I have to wait two hours to hear about what they are willing to take. That wouldn't have been an issue but I then am told "oh and we don't take anything for review an hour before closing". "Well" I say "you close at five so I should be ok since it's 3, right?" I mean why don't you just say what you really want which is "I don't like my job, I'm miserable and I don't really want to go through your things, I have too much already and would really like it if you left". Shocking to find out she is the manager, or so she says. I doubt it by the way another employee was dealing with customers but even she looked questionable. The cashiers however where great, friendly and helpful. If you just want to purchase, it's a great place. If you want to sell I would either donate or EBay what you can. It's just not worth it. Sad thing is to make it worth people coming in to purchase you need to make it worth to those who sell the clothes. read more

This place is the biggest rip off you could imagine. I take in my Name brand Carters, juicy couture, oshkoshbgosh, and many other top name brands in VERY GOOD CONDITION, and they take the crappier clothes and pay you pennies for your efforts. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Secondly, if I bring in a shopping bag full of clothes it shouldn't take you 1.5 hours to go through it, makes you wonder what kind of people are working there. Also, check the racks and see how many articles of clothing you find with GIANT stains on them, and then they pretend the clothes you have "had minor stains"... Yea right, rip off central. I shop here frequently since the birth of my baby in January. I wanted to sell some items on Monday and there was a sign posted they were overwhelmed with buys and would not be taking clothes until Thursday 8/7/14. Well today, Friday the young lady in the store stated they changed their mind. I told her came from northeast Philadelphia both trips. She said "Did you call first?". I told her the sign in the door stated you were buying on 8/7/14, it's 8/8/14. I had no reason to call. I feel like she was being sarcastic and rude. She never stopped wiping done her sign board and I felt brushed. It's 1:30 PM now and she posted a sign outside the store they stopped buying and check out the back to school event between 5-7 PM. I think she should have taken the clothes and I would have returned later in week for the distance I travelled. So inconsiderate. read more

Had a very bad experience at this location! I can't stress enough even if you call before taking the LONG RIDE of which I did with kids and a huge bin of nice clothing in tow, as soon as we walk in they are like, "sorry we aint takin anymore clothes" today! This was at 1:10pm on a Friday afternoon. I"m like WHAT! I even told them I had called before hand., and they had this attitude like they didn't believe me, I was fuming to say the least! I walked out and told the woman looking at strollers what had just happened she's like that's not right and she left as well! I went on to the one in Depford they were very courteous and accommodating, but as one poster mentioned, you DO NOT get back what you think you should get, I ended up getting back only $33 and one of the items was a boys brand new Calvin Klein Coat that was worth way more than $16 as they quoted. They will probably mark it up to $40 makes me sick! I will NEVER go to any of these "buy back bullshit" places, your better off posting on Ebay, Offerup or Craigslist, you'll get what you ask most times! Lesson learned! NO MORE!!!!!! read more

Wow what a great location! I couldn't believe how a large of a selection they had (and diverse)! No shortage of anything here. The employees are also super friendly and helpful! We bought a beautiful pack n play for our new baby and the staff disassembled and packed it up for us! We also got some super cute (and can I ad in TRENDY) clothes for our two boys. The prices are SO reasonable and all the clothing that we saw was in great gently used - new condition. They had a good selection of basics, trendy pieces and (even) baby business casual. Not that I have any children yet, but I love the idea of reusing perfectly good items. This store has slightly used, sometimes even completely new, baby items (mostly clothes but also cribs, toys, shoes, etc.) for very cheap - who can pass up 10 for $10 onsies?? You can even bring your own used items to sell to the store as long as they are freshly laundered and without any pet hair. The store is very organized and packed with things to choose from. I agree with the poor reviews below. Since the change in ownership (?) the store is disorganized, sloppy and crowded with stuff. For my last two visits (between Feb and April) I experienced the worst customer service imaginable. One of the sales clerks roller her eyes when I wanted to inspect an item hanging from the ceiling that was on display. I actually purchased the item, not that she cared. Most of the staff was, at best, indifferent. The only person present that cared about making sales and keeping the customer line moving was the person who (I think) was the manager or supervisor on duty. She didn't deal with the poor behavior of the staff but she did attend well to the customers herself. They were also not accepting drop offs either visit. No prior warning that they are not accepting clothing. Pretty poor to advertise that you accept consignment when, in reality, you do not. Suggestion - clarify the scope and quality of what you will accept so you don't get the over-abundance of items that will not sell quickly. My sister and I plan to go to the store today, the quality of the clothing is still superior, even though the sales platform is really poor. The phone message and website do not state if the store is open (today is July 4th). Horrible customer service for a business operating in 2015. We will have to drive out to see if they are open. I gave this review 2 stars and continue to try to shop there because the clothing prices vs quality is good. The poor management of the store and related service interactions deserves 0-1 stars. We will pursue better shopping venues so we don't have to endure the bad experiences. I recommend others do this as well. read more

Spent about 30 uncomfortable minutes in line dropping and picking up items I offered to sell only to be told they couldn't take them because of dog hair. All items were new with tags, some even in sealed platic. I checked them before I placed them in my bin and after--couldn't find the hair they were talking about. They offered a $2 coupon, but I can not see returning. The store looks like a thrift shop. Not impressed by what I saw. Best bet--go to the goodwill store less than half a mile away. While they will not pay for donations, if you take pictures and keep you receipts, you can write it off at tax time. read more

Every time I attempt to sell here I walk out either robbed or insulted. I have brought in brand new shoes from Nordstrome, Justice, Michael Kors, & many other name brands- just to be rejected. I was offered $1 for a brand new Justice shirt that still had the TAGS! I was offered $2 for a $50 Gymboree sweater dress. & most of the brand new shoes and clothes I bring to sell come back with excuses such as minor marks, wrinkled, some type of hair, worn, or whatever other excuse comes up as a lie. How can a shirt look worn if it's never been worn, just hanging in a closet? But 99% of the clothes on the racks that are for sale look as if they have been worn and passed down from child to child- and have marks! These employees pass up on designer, new or like new shoes/clothing for Walmart brands. Literally insane. & coming to this store for a deal, I think I could deal with a $100 dollar shirt for $10 even if it has a tiny pin sized mark. Today I walked almost $1000 of new/like new clothes back to my SUV. it's sad because I know parents would love to dress their children in these styles but the employees don't know style or what they are doing.
