Very discriminatory phone call with Guri , he is very condescending and extremely racist
    Kamilah B.

I am a member of several Plato's closets across the United States. However, this one is very discriminatory of people of color and minorities. Guri needs to be fired as well as his counterparts. He has his family and their follow around the store when you are in there to spend money. On Black Friday, I visited the store at 9:24 AM, as documented on my receipt. During that visit, I observed significant issues with the quality of merchandise, as well as inconsistencies and inaccuracies within the rewards system. The explanations I received from employees regarding points, returns, and refunds were contradictory and misleading. These issues alone indicated a breakdown in proper training, compliance, and standard operating procedures. However, the situation escalated into something far more serious on the day I called the store at 12:21 PM to address these concerns. The employee who answered the phone was dismissive, condescending, and repeatedly refused my requests to speak with a manager. He went as far as claiming I had not been in the store that morning despite objective proof on my receipt. What followed was not merely unprofessional--it was deeply discriminatory and emotionally distressing. Without placing me on hold, the employee set the phone down, leaving the line open. During that time, I overheard him speaking to another associate about me using offensive language, including a racial slur, and stating that he was "tired of hearing" me. When I later asked him to repeat himself because he was speaking too quickly, he responded by asking me, "Are you slow?" This was not a misunderstanding. It was not a moment of frustration. It was targeted verbal abuse, mockery, and discrimination, and it left me shocked, humiliated, and genuinely hurt. No customer--no person--should ever be spoken to in such a degrading and prejudiced manner.

My visit to Plato's Closet was an absolute inspiration. This is so much more than a resale store; it is a vital contributor to a better world, perfectly embodying the shift toward intentional consumption. Instead of contributing to waste, Plato's Closet is a community cornerstone that gives beautiful, quality clothing a purposeful second life. The inventory is always fresh, trendy, and so well-organized--it truly makes the thrill of the hunt accessible. Every purchase here is a small, conscious step in the right direction. It's affordable, it's stylish, and most importantly, it's a powerful statement about respecting our planet and our resources. If you believe, as I do, that our world is completely fixable, places like this are proof of concept. Thank you to the incredible staff for maintaining such a welcoming and high-quality establishment. Keep up the phenomenal work in building a brighter, more stylish, and sustainable future for all of us!

My ripped bag I was blamed for and the trash bag he so "graciously" gave me.

Today I went to this Plato's (never had a problem at any other location) to sell clothes. The man at the front had an attitude on entry when I simply asked if they were doing buys today. I signed in and gave them my stuff. When I got the notification to come back I see my bag is ripped. He proceeded to yell at me and blame me for my bag being overfilled. I said sorry (even though they ripped it). He acted like he was doing me a favor giving me a trash bag for my stuff. I then accepted the offer of my 3 items. When reaching for the money I was told to "BACK UP" and he placed it on the table. I've never been treated like that anywhere. I will never go back to this location ever again. I definitely feel like it was racially motivated. Absolutely unacceptable behavior.

Best thrift shop I've been to. Clean and good variety of stuff. I visited a few Plato closets and this one's my favorite.

I was super intimidated being a guy going into a women's clothing store but Daria the owner made me feel welcome and told me not to worry because she was there to help. She literally took a look at my wife's Instagram page to get an understanding of her style and guided me (I'm clueless) about pieces that made sense. I ended up picking out @10 total and my wife loved everything. 3 pieces ran too big and my wife had no issues swapping them for a smaller size with no issues and loved her experience with Daria also. Full of fun spring styles that you just can't get at a fast fashion mall type of place. You can tell so much thought, time and passion goes into the design and pieces picked. Fast forward to now that I live in the area again, and I have curated a cute collection of jewelry as well as added to my wardrobe a bit. The prices are so fair and it's just a highlight to my day when I find a gem from here! I've also had the chance to meet and work with the owner Daria. I loved the place that much that I reached out to see if I could help in any capacity. The owner is sweet and she really puts so much effort into her space and products, and it shows when loyal customers come in time and again. So screw the mall and head to The Boutique Bar, you'll feel so much better.

When retail business declines, these companies continue to flourish for a reason, they have an operation, where regardless of city, state, or socioeconomic difference, you can always expect to find quality items at discounted, and/or affordable pieces. Because of the aforementioned, I initially opt to not take a car through the store, knowing that when I do, I'll definitively purchase many more items than intended. Reason- there's always a treasure chest of great finds, and items you forgot you need, want to get, or the price is so reasonable, how could you not purchase the item you're drawn to. The Marshalls and HomeGoods store is divided into one space for the former and the latter. The store is maintained extremely well. The store is clean, add organized, which is often difficult because customers believe they have a sense of entitlement wherever they shop, and whatever they decide they don't want is not placed back where it was found, nor the way it was found (on a hanger, hanging from a display, in the correct aisle, shelf, department, etc.). The store is well lit and spacious. In Marshalls you can find clothes from toddlers to adults of any gender, jewelry, accessories, outerwear, workout essentials, confines, perfumes, shoes, luggage, hair care products and appliances, facial and skincare products, toys, collectibles, sports fan gear, and much more. In HomeGoods, there have seasonal and non-seasonable items well organized and displayed. There's aisles with each of the following, lamps, rugs, furniture, furniture accessories, framed artwork and photos, mirrors, pet supplies, clothes, and accessories, bedding, linens, pillows of all types, sheet sets, comforters, and duvet covers of all sizes, bath products, bath furniture, storage, and accessories. There's bath towels of all sizes, colors, and patterns, washcloths, hand towels, stationary, cleaning products for home and car, cards, gift wrap, bows, ribbons, gift bags, bag accessories, bedroom accessories, chairs, cookware, appliances, states, glassware, accent pieces, laundry items, storage containers, picture frames, cutting boards, tableware, stairwells, oven mitts, serving trays, kitchen utensils, step stools and ladders, teapots, coffee cups, barware, holiday items, books, desks, desk organizers, book ends, vases, accessories for children's and teens rooms, decorative decor from around the world from ceramic to glass to wood, food items, sauces, oils, sweeteners, spices, paperweights, dried fruit, decorative baskets, electronic and mobile phone accessories, beverages, gift cards, holiday outdoor display items, and the list goes on. If you walk out empty handed, it's an anomaly, and near impossible to do. The staff is friendly, helpful, and moves lines along at an expedited pace. Wonderful stores. Phenomenal brand stores that are constantly a pleasure to shop at!
