If you want eclectic cool clothes and budget is not your top consideration this is the place! However the words Raks and thrift shop in the same sentence is an oxymoron. the crowd they are catering to are people that can afford to pay top dollar that they are demanding for their stuff. And that crowd can afford to go anywhere for their clothes. The owner has to have a huge markup to pay for that rent in Haddonfield and have enough left over to make it worthwhile. which drives the experience I had below... I tried to consign to them, and found them to be picky and condescending. Out of several pairs of slightly worn designer shoes, in a popular size, no less, (items comparable to what I see they usually have for sale), they were only interested in one of my pairs and told me that wasn't "worth" opening up an account for me. Damn. a mean girls' club! and how much could I expect to make if they found my stuff "worthwhile"? the laws of economics tell me ..not anywhere near fair market value. I learned several important lessons from that experience. I used to enjoy shopping there and I am rethinking ever going back because 1) I felt dissed with the last incident and left a bad taste in my mouth. 2) Since the prices rival what you pay for most if their items new, why not go to a retail store where you are likely to spend just as much money and Where you have more variety in choices and sizes. 3) If you are on a budget, go to real non profit thrift shops-or buy less in new stores. and, What to do with all that stuff you bought in places like this on impulse? donate to Goodwill rather than deal with them. your time, energy and peace of mind is worth more. read more

This review is pertaining to my experience consigning with them. I do want to start off by saying they have a really great selection of inventory and gorgeous pieces, hence the 3 stars. So if you're coming here to shop - go for it! They have great stuff! I have consigned with them twice and I will start with the pros: They're very organized and efficient with settling the balance owed, given that you call them after 60 days which is clearly communicated during the process. My con is the overall experience in store dropping off the items. During my first experience with them I found them to be very standoffish and aloof while sorting through my items, which like whatever.. they're running a business. But I still felt like it was strange considering they accepted the majority of what I brought in. What they didn't want they coldly handed back to me without saying a word and looking at me with a blank stare. Again, whatever. It didn't hurt my feelings that they didn't want some of my stuff I just thought it was... weird. Can't imagine how they treat people who come in with things they don't want at all... gives me a chill to think about. My most recent experience was the same, except this time they literally accepted all but ONE of my items and STILL treated me coldly. Such a bizarre interaction. Overall I can't see myself consigning here again because they are super rude and I find it so off putting. I don't need to subject myself to that lol. At the bare minimum you can be polite, it's not that serious ya'll. read more

I had a very racist towards black people experience here. The employees barely spoke when i walked in and acted like they didn't see me in the store while going out of their way to help their other customers who were shopping. I also wanted a jacket that they didn't want to give me a price for. It was new that someone dropped off there while i was shopping and it caught my eye but they clearly didn't want to sell it to me bc they were " going in the back" to check the price -'d never came back out or mentioned the item to me again. I have shopped here before and i can't say the experience everytime has been different. I will no longer shop here. I happened upon this cute secondhand boutique and it did not disappoint! First, I love the name so much! I only wish I lived closer but I have shopped several times while visiting nearby. They carry high quality brands and seem to be extremely selective on what they take, all while keeping the prices very reasonable. I didn't see any stains, tears, or loose/missing items which was impressive. There was a great selection of footwear in a range of sizes. I personally love the handbag selection, ranging from Kate Spade to Gucci and Valentino so there is something for every price point. Fine jewelry is nicely displayed and super reasonably priced. If you are looking for the perfect accessory, I bet you can find it at Raks! Luv, luv,luv this amazing store. The ladies who work there were so helpful, encouraging and thoughtful. The clothes were affordable and beautiful. They have Different and unusual pieces of jewelry and designers shoes. My daughter bought a beautiful black dress with bell sleeves for 35 dollars and a cute choker necklace for 14 dollars a great outfit. We will definitely be going back and hopefully soon! read more

I suppose if you you don't mind spending a pretty penny for thrift/second hand items, this place is for you. Oh, and do you mind a less than friendly owner looking down her nose at you as you shop? That's what you'll get here. I stopped in thinking I might pick up a few treasures at a great price. I have been to thrift and vintage shops before and know the deal. This is not advertised as a high end vintage shop, in fact she calls it trendy. Well, the clothes were just ok, the jewelry was very cute - but priced as I could buy NEW at a department store. There were a decent amount of monogramed Coach bags, but I'm not a fan of having the same bag as everyone else on the street. Oh, and as much as I really did enjoy the 50's do wop music wafting throughout the store, I wouldn't expect that in such a TRENDY place lol. The entire time the owner didn't even acknowledge us, let alone help us (and we were nicely dressed with other shopping bags proving we were in the market to buy - not that that should matter). Fast forward a few months to a couple weeks ago I called in to ask about consigning some things. I was told very trendy and new. When I arrived, the associate Bonnie was very friendly. The owner, standing next to her and literally 2 feet from me again did not acknowledge me, but looked down her nose at the things I brought (all Macy's quality or equal). She told the associate - not me - usually items are brought in on hangers (not told to me over the phone), and it was late in the season, and she really could only use very great new trendy items. Never once looked at me. Did I mention my aunt was with me shopping in the store. She actually found something she liked to buy, but after witnessing this snobbery she returned it to the rack and left with me...unlikely to ever return. read more

So I have lived in the area and visited Haddonfield many times in the past. I had seen this store but never stopped in. We parked at the patco and my friend needed some boots so we ventured in. At first it seemed like it would be pleasant enough. Very tiny store but looked like it had some quality stuff. Wasn't planning on spending money but saw some wonderful jewelry that I wanted to take a peek at up close. Things got less than friendly in a hurry. Was not sure who worked there at first, and I felt like I was more of a burden asking to see things in the case than a potential customer. We were trying to direct another friend (aka paying customer) to the area by using landmarks. We told them it was the shop next to the cupcake place. That was when the worker (owner?) started making disparaging comments about Indulgence Cupcakery to me. I tried to shrug it off and end the conversation but she persisted. Bad move since I know the owner very well and believe firmly that they are asking a good price for their quality product. Then when I walked away she began telling another customer how disgusting thrift shops are in comparison to the consignment shop. Nice. Seeing as I manage an extremely successful thrift and discount store that prides ourselves in cleanliness. Too snooty and rude for the everyday shopper. Prices seemed reasonable but not willing to step foot somewhere so negative. Don't step on those around you because you feel superior. Customers from all walks of life matter. read more

Nice selection, a bit over priced for 2nd hand. The sales woman was very nice but very much a Saleswoman. She suggested a scarf for a dress I bought. While searching for a hairpiece to go with the dress (I had a 20's theme party to attend and, yes, I should have put it next to the dress at the time) I put the scarf up next to it and it didn't go with it AT ALL. I returned to the shop within 30-40 minutes to ask if I could return it. She said I could not and continued to tell me that she would have never suggested that scarf for that dress. A rigid policy is one thing but don't treat me as if I'm stupid. True customer service would have offered an exchange for another product that would have suited the occasion, apologizing for the confusion and working towards a future sale. I LOVE this store! I visit Haddonfield every Friday for a special yoga class nearby and stop in to Raks nearly every trip to comb the RAKS for special finds or simply to chat it up with Cheryl, Lisa or Anita. They have become like extended family. I recently bought a Louis Vuitton bag for a song... with a certificate of authentication. Lisa keeps an eye out for me and points out those hidden gems I might have missed. I bring ALL of my high-end fashions to RAKS for resale and get a great return every time. P.S. I have been both shopping at and consigning with Racks for YEARs. This is a wonderful store where I have found some real treasures! Additionally, I have had recent buys from other stores, that after getting home and wearing, I realized just were not my style, but would look fabulous on someone else - and have had a great experiencing consigning such items at Rack's.
