I spent time around some of the old heads on KY and the curb in the late 70's and 80's before things began to change. I did not realize the impact and influence she would have on me in my adult life. She is an excellent seamstress, dressmaker and clothing designer all around. I also love the jewels that you will find in her shop. I have worked beside her as an advocate for the people as well as stood with her and tapped into her knowledge bank while she worked. If you have not crossed paths with her you have missed out on a gem of a human being for all people.

They have camera access for parents to check in during the day. It's super cute to see my child play and learn, while also giving me peace of mind. Knowing my child is both emotionally supported and physically safe is something I am so grateful for and feel incredibly confident in our choice.

Also, there is an Amerikick karate facility next door, they dress my son in his uniform and take him to his classes every Friday. This is a huge help, as I can't take my son on that day. They also have an app that is great. They upload pictures throughout the days, showing what the children are learning and working on. It's easy to message the teachers who then quickly respond. There are many great things I can say about this establishment! I also just enrolled my youngest son as well. Heather

They even have weekend and evening classes for my working friends, and kid classes too The prices are really low since they are not out to make a profit. Several times a year they bring in nationally known artists. I have taken a number of classes with big names for half of what you might spend elsewhere. I love their drop-in sessions with no instructors. I go to a Do Your Own Thing drop-in on Weds and love the positive, peer support I get there. They also have an outreach program for residents of local assisted living and nursing homes, that has allowed me to give back to my community through my art. FInally-- when I first moved here, they provided me with an opportunity to show my work, and continue to do so with their monthly exhibitions. As a serious artist, this was a great first step in becoming established in a new place.

To be honest, I'm a bit tired of the mass-produced items that most swag providers offer: put a logo on a bottle opener or slap the company branding on a mass-produced T-shirt. And so a few years ago I was doing some online research on small businesses or nonprofits that produce possibly-customizable gifts...ideally businesses with a mission that is in line with our company's mission. I came across MudGirls Studios and added them to a spreadsheet...and then I actually forget about this list for a while. Then this year I was looking for a special gift for a certain population in our company and I thought back to said list. I reached out to the email on the MudGirls website and soon after I got a response from Dorrie. (Dorrie later told me that she thought I was spamming her and that I wasn't real.) Over the next few weeks and months, Dorrie and I developed actually two gifts: a custom-branded mug and a custom-branded ramen bowl. I'm very excited to send these to my colleagues next year for their very special work anniversary! Thank you, Dorrie, for all that you do and for responding to my initial email. I love your organization's mission and I love the work that you do. Here's their mission: "MudGirls Studios is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that empowers disadvantaged women through training and employment. MudGirls Studios helps women transition onto a pathway towards self-sufficiency and out of poverty. We use clay as our vehicle to change lives through their own creations and sales of functional art and aesthetic utilitarian objects. These women gain a source of long-term supplemental income along the way."
