So I went back today, and was pleasantly pleased that they had quite a selection of Hammitts, including the "Davis" bag that I had I seen on Hammitt's website recently that I was curious about. (It's really helpful to see handbags and purses in person so you can get a sense of the size and the feel but not many retailers sell Hammitts in this area.) I had rectified the former, and thought I did with shoes, but coming into Sherman brothers I learned quite a few things. Firstly, the people here are wonderful, polite, courteous, attentive, and were very helpful in all my questions and inquiries. I had been eyeing a pair of Alden 403 Indy boots, and have quite a few pairs of quality mens shoes. However, the Indy boots can be notoriously difficult to size due to the last and shape of the shoe. If fitted correctly, I had heard these were the most comfortable pair that one can own. I had come in twice, once I was helped by Ken and the second time by Jose. The first time being fitted, I got a different size than what Jose recommended in the end. But after careful measuring, sizing, resizing, and resizing some more, I was assisted to get the best fit possible for my strangely sized feet. All in all, it took about an hour and a half, but you just won't get the same kind of experience at another shop. The folks here have been in the trade for decades, and the level of knowledge and experience is just unmatched. If like me, you went to a shop thinking the customer service members knew what they were talking about, you might be suffering with an incorrect size for years. I'd say if it's your first pair of nice dress shoes or boots, come to Sherman brothers first. Even if you were to get the most amazing pair of shoes from another shop, it won't mean anything when you're suffering from walking all day in an ill-fitted pair.

There was a specific dress I wanted to try on and Elizabeth John's coordinated to ship it in from their Morristown location for me to try on. Out of the few bridal shops I visited, Elizabeth John's definitely had the most versatile bridal gown options - I felt they had a good selection of simple, elegant, and timeless dresses. I also want to reiterate how absolutely amazing Sam was. My guests joining got a bit lost and I was overwhelmed by the situation - Sam went out of her way to make sure I was alright, and once they eventually got there, Sam made sure to focus the appointment on me and the dresses, and overall just made the whole experience so special and relaxed.

I drove two hours to be there for what was supposed to be a special bridal appointment, and the entire day was disrupted because of this mistake. What's most frustrating is that there was no real accountability or effort to make up for the inconvenience. Wedding dress shopping is supposed to be a meaningful experience. Better communication and basic organization are the bare minimum in this industry.

I should have brought supplies and a compass. 1) The store has a lot of stock. too much stock. there are piles and racks and mounds and seriously I was in there for nearly 10 minutes before encountering a clerk and was seriously tempted to ask "Dr Livingston I presume?" All this made it hard to find things and remember where you'd seen something. 2) This is just my taste. While there were some nice pieces and I was upset a pair of spectator shoes weren't in my size, a great many of the pieces by cut, color and material look like they will be sold to people going to a high school prom in northern New Jersey circa 1974. The sort of thing you'll wear once so mom or grand ma can coo over it and will promptly spend the rest of it's existence on the floor of your closet. So there are some nice pieces in here but they seem to be hidden behind a crowd of clutter and poor quality items making the search only slightly less harrowing than a search for the cracks of Doom.

Price is the only detractor, but you know what you're getting will last. We came in on a Saturday to find a welcoming staff during an on-site event that was promoting a local non-profit, with a portion of proceeds benefiting them. They had snacks and beverages, including champagne, rose, beer, hot cider, and Spindrift. They also had a small kids table with coloring books and a ton of crayons. Not to mention the live music that was getting set up. The staff were helpful. Pointing out where some different options may be in the store, sizes, etc., and chatted about things we had in common (like our dogs -- oh yeah, they're dog friendly, btw, and even had milk bones for the doggos). They were never pushy even though we spent over an hour in the store. We eventually decided on a few pieces we liked and they easily checked us out without a fuss. I did notice that they also gift wrapped another person's purchase too. While the clothes may not be your style or may be inaccessible from a price point, they are very nice quality, look and feel great, and you'll be treated like a normal person assuming you treat them the same.

Rudi's , effortlessly, made it easy for me to dress my son for THREE proms this season…read more Yes ... I was shocked when my son told me he was going on three proms within a four week period. Yes ... I was shocked the first prom he agreed to attend was in less than two weeks. Yes.... I believed I was going to spend a fortune but Lisa (maybe I should refer to her as my son's fairy godmother) accepted the "challenge" and I couldn't be more impressed. She took his measurements on Monday and the IKE Behar tuxedo was ready for his fitting within a week. I was nervous , unnecessarily, because we didn't have a backup plan . When my son came out of the dressing room looking like James Bond , I could have cried. Two weeks later we came in for the second tuxedo fitting (a beautiful Michael Kors tuxedo) , again I was blown away, the fairy godmother was not. She felt the sleeves needed to be altered and the bow tie changed to accentuate his date's dress. Following Lisa's suggestions, again, my son exited the dressing room wearing a suit that fit him to perfection The third prom is next week, I've entrusted the suit selection to Lisa completely. I have no doubt Lisa will ensure my son is one of the best dressed at this event too. FYI .... if a person leaves Rudi's with a less than perfect fitting suit , that has nothing to do with Lisa , her husband or aunt. (Yesssss it's a family business) I've seen them all run up and down the stairs making last minute alterations to ensure a perfect fit for a customer. The seamstress is horrible. She alters incorrectly. She can't sew a straight line, and she can't follow marked lines. They definitely need a better seamstress. Don't know if I would go back because of the rude woman and bad tailoring.
