Sometimes with consignment shop reviews there are people disappointed about the particulars as to what they could or could not consign. Not saying they aren't entitled to their opinions, but it can skew the reviews for a place. As a seller, I can't speak to this place. That's all I'm saying. What I will say is, as a shopper, I felt like the inventory was great and particularly more stylish than some of the other consignment shops nearby. At the moment they have a 50% off sale on some winter items, and I found the already-reasonably-priced pieces even better at the discounted rate. I got 3 items consisting of 2 tops and 1 pair of earrings for $25. I mean, for the Main Line the prices were simply not that bad. I know at least one similar store in the vicinity that is more expensive and the items strike me as less trendy. Finally, I didn't find the staff rude. They informed me of the sale when I arrived and were pleasant as I checked out. I didn't feel like they were lurking over my shoulder. I know this is a thing in some places, but I just didn't feel that here. All in all, I'll probably be back. Especially with the sale going on. I consign items here and I also peruse the store so I've done a little of both a few times now, 3-4 visits. So for the record, each time i've come in, yes the staff are dismissive, they are no nonsense, and they are not what I would descibe as friendly. I purposely chatted them up when I did a checkout, but that's definitely something that could be improved. The payouts do take longer than one would expect, but after the first time I made a drop off & realized their timeline, I was fine with it. Now for what I think is very good about the store: the inventory, the displays, it's clean, and well organized. They have high quality brand names, they have amazing clearance bins, and spacious areas for their dressing rooms. Things are easily marked. It's worth a visit to come shop, consign, etc. Just need to add some sunshine to their team there! read more

I love not being acknowledged when I walk into a store... SAID NO ONE EVER. I really wanted to love this place because I follow them on Instagram and work in the area but unfortunately the lack of customer service really just won't allow me to come back. My biggest pet peeve in a store is walking in (when it's not busy) and no one even acknowledging you're even in there. & I don't expect to be treated like Meghan Markle or anything but a simple "hello or are you looking for anything specific" would be nice ESPECIALLY in a retail store. Honestly I can't even tell you who were the employees in the store because not one person greeted me and I didn't see anyone at the front counter. Two stars because they do have nice name brand clothing (it's on the Main Line so like I expect those kind of higher end items) but if you don't care about brand there's another thrift down the street that would be happy to not only ACKNOWLEDGE you but also ASSIST you or make the effort. The contract states "checks are mailed out within 30 days of end of contract" but I was told several times over the phOne that the owner waits till the exact 30th day to mail them out. hahahahaha!!! The worst part of this store is the staff. I've been in before and they're hardly friendly, they sit around acting lazy and seem bothered to do anything. Today we went in and the staff wear wearing sweat clothes. If you're trying to be high end consignment, having one younger female staff member wearing a sloppy grey sweat top and grey sweat bottoms so tight her rear end is bulging out and the other wearing a green Nike air sweat shirt doesn't make for an attractive environment. Also the clothes can be nasty, my girlfriend tried on a pair of pants the last time that when we looked had urine stains all over the crotch. I've heard discussions where an older employee was talking down to a younger one that was so vicious and mean, I almost felt the need to say something. Asked the sales girl if my disabled sister could use the bathroom. First she lied and said they don't have one. Told her to go down the street to use one (my sister cannot walk after her stroke). I said I know its the rules, but can you just be human and let her use it. She laughed and told me "What would happen if I let everyone use it" I said, this isn't everyone, its someone disabled who can't walk down the street, just have a heart. She smirked and said she didn't care. I have read that the salespeople in this store are rude, and pretty much don't care what their customers think, but this goes way beyond that. It's funny to read reviews of a rude staff. I've been to the store a couple of times and I never have experienced anyone being rude. I have purchased every time I've gone in this store, I can't remember if they spoke or not but I'm a speaker and I'm chatty so that might be the difference but I've never felt like they were being rude. This place is an ABSOLUTE DISASTER! The staff are rude and behave as if they are annoyed to be employed there. SELLER BEWARE: They are not very well-versed in high-end items. I dropped off a high end NWT designer bag in mint condition. The teenager-staff-pricer put it on the floor for $20. I was informed via email and immediately called. I told her to look at the tags inside - $400 bag. She apologized and said she was not aware of the designer and would change it to reflect it proper value. They under priced it just the same. I also tried to consign a VINTAGE HALSTON gown and VINTAGE PERRY ELLIS - they rejected it as not of the era! They sold a NWT Men's trench coat - $500 retail - for $50. It sold immediately, of course, because they low ball the price. No kidding! They lag behind on getting contracts and prices to their customers, but the worst is how utterly RUDE they are. The last time I was there a young woman behaved as if the customers were a thorn in her side. In addition, I had a phone conversation with a woman who said her name was Gia - unprofessional and incredibly abrasive. When I asked to speak to the owner - Donna, I was told - Gia explained that Donna doesn't speak with customers. Apparently, it would mean stooping. I asked for Donna to call me and I emailed Donna, as well. No call - ever! I demanded my items returned to me. I will never go back there! I would rather donate my items to people in need. You can't rag on a place where you can pick up Paper Denim jeans for $2.50. No, I did not make that up, that is an actual price. Get your chin up off the ground. This isn't always the case- it is very hit or miss but if you space out your visits, there are many more hits than misses. I walk into the place with a warriorlike mentally- I only pick out solid brands because it is resale and I only pick out perfect or near perfect merchandise. I am not afraid to knock over old ladies. Get your hands off my Prada for $5.00 bitch. I have picked up some amazing bargains here and other times I walk in and out. That's just the way it is. They do have layaway, jewerly, purses, belts, shoes, lingerie ( umm, too close for comfort if you ask me) and men's. No kids clothing here. The staff, I will warn you, is really yucky. There is no such thing as customer service here and that's a big drawback to me. I don't care if you have solid gold shoes for sale- you should say please, thank you and have a nice day. Danger! Do not venture into the Bryn Mawr Greene Street location if you're just "window shopping" and you don't intend to do any purchasing. Because you will walk out with some stuff, guaranteed. You won't be sorry, but your purse will be lighter. I made just this sort of mistake a few days ago, when I was visiting Bryn Mawr. The place was stacked to the gills with gorgeous clothing in wonderful shape. I picked up a beautiful Odille blouse, a nice Loft t-shirt, a very Joan Holloway va-va-voom jersey dress and another Loft top. Altogether, under $80. These are consignment store prices. You're going to find clothing that is almost new, from good brand names. The women who work here are just the sweetest, too. They are super helpful and nice. There is a good sized men section, but it could use some more items, so I'm hoping the men in Bryn Mawr start donating more stuff because I love to dress up my husband. Great shopping experience overall here. Update 7/23/13: I just have to add that I walked in here yesterday with my husband and absolutely no plan to purchase anything (we're going on vacation soon and I need to save money for vacation shopping!) But then I saw the most beautiful Beth Bowley dress which fit like a glove. New, it would have run $300, here it was $56 and one of the more expensive items but so worth it. Their men's selection is still hurting because the young men of the main line seriously need to start consigning. However, we still managed to pick up the men's J Crew button down on display in the window, in a very now shade of pink, for just 16 bucks. This place rocks! read more

Did I visit the same Greene Street at 848 W Lancaster Ave as everyone else?! I did not find nearly the same deals and I don't think I was looking in the "this stuff is really expensive" section either. Pros: * the shop was attractive with it's tree trunk fixtures and white wainscoting. * the racks were well marked and clothing was organized by color * there was a lot of high end, attractive, and hardly worn clothing Cons: * the clothing was not put away very well. the sizes were all over the place and not at all where they should have been. * the prices were really high. i didn't see a pair of jeans cheaper than $18. * the clearance section is pretty paltry When I go thrift store shopping, I expect to come out feeling great because I got bargains. Though I bought three really cute shirts, I didn't feel that way when I walked out of Greene Street. The jeans, shirts, skirts... everything seemed pricey for a second hand place. I guess that's what you get when it's consignment. I really don't want to feel like I'm paying more than I would if I found that item on sale at the store, you know? So I'm happy with my purchases but I did have to think long and hard about them. I'd go back again, but not with the same mentality as my usual thrift store excitement. Back when I had to wear more "work appropriate" clothes to work, this was the place I came. It has nicer stuff than the thrifts store, more adult stuff than Buffalo Exchange, and you don't have to wade through the nightmare that is Daffy's or Loehman's. It can be a bit tame, though, and a bit preppy, and the sales staff can be a bit snobby, but just ignore them and try on a dress for the wedding you have to go to later this summer. read more

I love Greene Street because the clothes are in excellent condition and they have a very nice selection. Last time I was there, they were having a sale and I got two pairs of Donna Karan pants, a pair of Gap jeans and a Lilly Pulitzer skirt for $15 - total! Unfortunately, the staff makes shopping there an unpleasant experience, as they are more interested in having conversations with each other and on the phone than waiting on customers. I will continue to shop there because the prices are so good for what you get but I really wish management would teach the staff how to provide even mediocre customer service. Because street parking is usually available right out front, I often stop in. The store is super-organized for easy shopping, the clothes are in great condition and prices are surprisingly lower than other consignment shops. read more

Once you recover from the initial shock of all the linen and madras in the entryway, you'll discover that there are TONS of good finds here. The shop is clean (though somewhat dark) and has a great selection of new and barely-worn stuff. If you like high-end denim, this is a great place to get it. Yeah sure, it's already been worn by a main line teenager, but she only wore it once, so there's no harm, right? I came in looking for some cute shorts and didn't find any, hence the missing star. But if I ever need a silk sweater or some Italian shoes, I'll be back. Nice curated thrift store. If I was going thrifting in the area, this would definitely be on my to-visit list. The items there were really nice, but most of those came at reasonable prices, not "omg I can't believe this is only $5" prices. Pretty much everything on the racks was a recognizable brand name - J.Crew, French Connection, Ann Taylor, Calvin Klein, etc. The racks were neat, but I found it confusing to navigate the shop - could definitely use some signage! Most of the sections span multiple racks, so it's hard to tell if that rack next to you is a continuation of the sweaters or the beginning of the long-sleeve shirts. We were there when they were transitioning from summer to fall, so there wasn't as much merchandise out as there normally would be. I felt like the men's section was lacking a bit - most of the clothing was very large. I ended up getting a like-new Calvin Klein suit for $35. Normally that is way above my thrift store budget, but I don't currently have a suit, and I know I will eventually need one, so I'd rather be able to pull a $35 thrifted one from the back of my wardrobe than have to go to J.Crew to drop $200 on a last-minute suiting purchase. My sister got an amazing full-length black strapless gown for $13. Yes, $13!! It was in the clearance section, and it fits her perfectly. We didn't recognize the brand name, but it looks gorgeous. She's going to wear it to her fall ball... so there goes $13 spend instead of $300! She also picked up a pair of unworn Ralph Lauren flats for $20 - super cute. In terms of price, I felt like the price for sweaters, blazers, and outerwear was really reasonable. Most of the sweaters and blazers were around $20-$25, and outwear from $25-$35. However, the shirts that I saw were around $16-$20. I tried on a great button-up shirt, but with a $20 price-tag, I had to put it back. I can find something comparable at Goodwill for $5-$8. If the shirts had been around $10-$12, I definitely would have picked it up. The cashier who helped us out was really friendly. Didn't experience any issues, and I saw her helping out other customers who were purchasing a large quantity of items. read more

I think any thrift store, or consignment shop is going to be hit or miss. This is just the nature of thrifting, in my opinion. I don't do it often enough, but when I do, some days, I hit the jackpot, and other days I don't. And you know, you might be having a bad day, and someone else might be winning their lottery. One thing is, that it helps if you're not going in there with one thing in mind, and that you have enough time to devote to digging through everything. That said, I DID go in there with something in mind, but I didn't really expect it to jump out at me, when I went in there. I went in, more to browse, but "hey, I actually NEED a black blazer for dinner tonight." And there, right in front of me, was a little cute Calvin Klein black blazer in just my size. For 20 bucks!! A wardrobe staple for a fraction of full price. I will say that things aren't fully organized, like others have said. It's kind of lumped together, in a half-assed organized way, but if you have time to dig around, then you may find some things at a great price. Just remember that it's consignment, not thrift, so your pricing isn't going to be the same as it would be if you went to goodwill. Overall, I'd definitely go back and make time to dig through, with the hope of finding a few treasures. read more
