Went today for the first time. Typically go to Milford location. Store was extremely clutter some. There were things not completely organized and lots of miscellaneous items right upon entry from donors/ sellers. Positive, I was able to get more higher quality items at this location than Milford such as polo and vineyard vines. Sold a large bag of items and was only offered $14.15 which I know I would have received more from the Milford location. read more

I have visited other consignment shops in the past and this one is not very organized and looks dirty. It has a lot of not gently used items at a retail price. I went there looking for jeans and pajamas for my toddler and I ended up buying them new at Children's Place online for half the price! Seriously you need to review your prices for USED items! I really like this store but yes it is cramped. I don't mind that, but what I do mind is being constantly moved or interrupted by sales associates as they go back and forth with items or to the back room. Not even an excuse me! Called the store and asked how long it would take to sell 1 small box of toys and was told 30 mins. Drove all the way to wappingers to sell the small box of toys and was again reassured it wouldn't take longer than 30 mins. 3 hours later I still had not had my items inventoried & priced. I had my 19 month old in your store for 3 dam hours. She was hungry, tired and upset. Disgusting, will never return! read more

I absolutely love this store!! I have been shopping here for the last 6 years and I never leave disappointed. They have the brands I love at a fraction of what I normally pay online. The staff is always welcoming and always willing to help. I'm constantly calling and asking to hold things and it's never been a problem. On several occasions I have tried to sell/trade clothing in here and 99% of the time I leave with a bin full of stuff that's rejected for this reason or that. I am diligent about throwing out clothes as they get ruined or too worn since my kids generally grow out of items before this even happens. I sort items good enough to keep but it never seems to meet the standards here. So, one might think "gee, they have high standards, that's great!" .... however the funny thing is you'll find some pretty worn and broken stuff there so I don't really understand the rhyme or reason. I have personally purchased a play kitchen there which was missing pieces and had a battery operated part that didn't function... I also purchased a bicycle that the training wheel was broken on. I bought these items because I wasn't being picky and figured I could fix it myself but I really wonder how those items managed to even get traded in? The staff is generally not very friendly and they act like they are doing you a favor. The store is cramped, crowded and feels dirty. I don't bother coming here anymore; I just give my away to friends or go to Goodwill for a tax write off rather than feel robbed by this place. After several attempts going here, I always leave irritated and aggravated and it's never proved to be worth my time or energy to drag the stuff in... and back out. read more

I love Once Upon a Child in Danbury, CT. I always find what I'm looking for for my 2 1/2 year old twin girls. I'm so blessed when I shop there. The toys, clothes, and books are my biggest finds and the staff is super helpful, friendly, and fast checking me in! I love it! I'm there almost every week and look forward to my visits. I have to agree with the other reviews. I brought several boxes of clothes to sell. They were all in mint condition. They only bought a few things and gave me next to nothing. They told me they were stained. There was not a stain on them! I will not bother selling to them again. The ironic part is that while I was waiting, and shopping, I found numerous items that were worn, stained, and had holes. Getting new items on sale at name brand stores is a much better idea! read more

I don't usually write reviews but today I was very offendedby the way I was treated by the staff.I wanted to purchase a Bumbo seat they had one marked 10$ the others were marked 20 but they all had a tray.When I was checking out the girl walked away with the seat spoke to another employee and started snickering.The 2nd woman came back and told me the seat was 25$ now it's 5$ more than everything else .I have worked in retail and if you have a mismark it should always be honored.I spent 100$ in the store just yesterday but noone recognized me as a shopper which is unprofessional as I frequent the store a lot since I have a 6 month old baby.I feel as though they were accusing me of switching tags and that they had "caught" me so they were exteremely rude.The cashier never once made eye contact it seemed a bother to be paying she never said Thankyou.Money is tight for everyone I don't switch tags or expect special treatment but I am a human being and they couldn't have been more disinterested in having me as a customer so I will happily give my business to a different store. I have been to this store four times. The first time I brought in a huge amount of used clothing in excellent condition and left with $67.00..... ok, I accepted it. The 2nd & 3rd time was less then half. Again, clothing with no stains, piling, smoke free/pet free home. Included in these transactions were at least a dozen packages of brand new tights and socks. Both (2nd & 3rd) times I left with less then half I did the first time. The fourth time infuriated me. I'm mad at myself for just not walking out. My daughter has been having these unbelievable growth spurts so I brought in another bin. This bin had all brand new Gap, Gymboree, Hanna Anderson clothing. Brand new bearpaw boots. I also included brand new Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles. They said they would call when ready so I decided to walk around the store to see if I could find a bargain. I notice a lot of dirty shoes, sweaters with pills discolored/stained smelly clothing and very used toys and books. My husband signaled to me that they were ready. They gave me $22.00. I should have said no thank you and just donated the clothing but at that point I would have said a lot Of other things. They have their regular favorite customers. They favor the Spanish population in my opinion. When I Asked "that's all?!?, it's all brand new and in season"'they said they were not popular brands. WTH!?! My husband is Latin and fluent in Spanish and was annoyed that specific day, he over heard a lot of not so nice conversation referring to people as gringa(probably didn't spell right but that's slang for white people). I will never go back. Shame on me for accepting that $22.00. Lesson learned! read more

I own a daycare and was told I could find toys for great prices at this store. I trucked all the way to Conn. from Bronx New York, because I heard such great things about this place. Well I most say the hour drive was well worth it. I got amazing toys in great condition. The toys looked brand new. And for all the prior reviews that said the customer service was horrible, I did not experience this. The ladies even helped me load up my van with all the items I purchased. That what I call customer service. I'm so happy with the deals I received that I'm ready to go back next week. I can't say enough good things about this place. read more

I had to relocate and sell a ton of new baby toys. The toys were in great condition but apparently only worth pennies. It cost more in gas to drive from New Milford to Danbury than what I got. They also refused a brand new kitchen set because it was missing a screw. As for what they sell, it's so overpriced for being used. I ended up donating the rest of my baby stuff. I brought a big bag of gently used clothes here. Let me start by saying that dropping the clothes off and coming back in 30 minutes with a joke of an offer is appalling. The lady wasnt even going to let me see what clothes and how many of the clothes she was going to give me $9 for, I had to ask. never again!!!! -10 stars okay so i called before i came in and the girl on the phone tells me a list of items and toys they are in need of. me being a teacher and having tons of children in my family and also volunteering at events have lots of things i can give and use the money for so i bring the bag. 1. im not greeted 2.they tell me 30 minutes when no one else is there . i say fine ill wait here, they begin speaking spanish about me ( i understand spanish) 3. 5 minutes later a so called manger of a so called place that i cant wait closes named nicki tells me they aren't taking anything right now!!!! are you serious? im like huh? she starts stuttering with her lies and i point to the list that says "things we need" and she says oh its outdated! 4. i told a group of ladies what happen outside the store they offered to take my items inside the store to see if they will take them and guess what they did!! 5. im brown skinned and the ladies were white. this is sad im crying . im a school teaching a teaching my children every crayon is different but they all color ! too bad nicki didnt learn that please stop shopping there if you support my review. please shop at carousel kidsignment 146 danbury rd new milford ct 06776 god bless. even you nicki ! read more

I cannot begin to tell you how HORRID the treatment I received at this location was. I called prior to driving from Watertown to Danbury to bring quite a large amount of both new and gently used clothes from my son to ask if it was a good day to bring my stuff in. I brought in 5 laundry baskets of name brand clothing, laundered clothing including Nautica, Patagonia, Banana Republic, Oshkosh, Carters, A Children Place and Levi's. Again, ALL gently used. I was given NO money for any of my items. I was in shock. I visited the location on 8/27/2016 so, yesterday and it was very busy. I told the owner, Ms Morell that she could take her time since she clearly had a lot on her plate and my family and myself were going to go shopping and go out to lunch. I signed up for the texting option so I knew when my they were completed. I signed in at 11:55am, and trust me, there were at least 3 other people in front of me that needed their stuff gone through. I received at text message at 12:23 that they were not accepting anything. One, I was shocked because I had many items that were literally brand new and name brand items. Two, there was no way anyone could have gone through all of that stuff in such a short time. When I went to the store, I was told that my items were pilling, which I guess meant there were tiny balls of material balling off the sweaters. I asked Ms. Morell to show me where and she literally ignored me. Then, told me that overalls did not sell at her store at all. I had 3 pairs of Oshkosh and Levi BRAND NEW overalls that were never worn. My son had several pairs of distressed jeans (which are purchased that way and again, still had tags) and was told he wore the holes in the jeans himself. I asked how that was possible since the tags were still attached. The beautiful Banana Republic sweater I was told would not sell because it was made of wool and no one "like wool clothing". And a pair of John Deere Overalls that I was told "if there were camouflage pattern, would not sell unless I had purchased a matching shirt with it." The overalls came without any shirt and my son never worn them. Then, I was told that they would take the overalls but "didn't want to buy only one thing from me." I couldn't make this information up if I tried. So, I took my stuff to a different Once Upon a Time location in Bristol CT, where they purchased most of my belongings for $80 which I was fine with. Driving all over the state, I was very upset. Needless to say, this location is completely bias and was full of extremely lazy people that did not feel like working on a day that they were overwhelmed. I have never written a review on yelp but and CLEARLY upset enough to say how horrible the customer service is at this location and how the "owner" Ms Morell mentioned that she was working for 17 years and she knew how to treat customers. My opinion, once she reads this, she should be completely embarrassed at her lack of customer service, her lying, and her lack of being able to handle a busy location. Maybe it's time for her to hang it since clearly 17 years has taken a toll on her behavior and her overall manner and I strongly suggest going to a different location than wasting your time at the Danbury CT Once Upon A Child location. Take a look at the other complaints. They aren't far off from what I just wrote. If I could give NO stars, or even negative stars, I would. read more
