Very Disappointed With My Experience at Marshalls…read more I was extremely dissatisfied with my recent experience at Marshalls. I went to return a wallet that I had purchased the previous day and had the original receipt with me. I was told that the label on the wallet did not match the receipt. After some back and forth, they finally called a manager, who was able to locate and verify the purchase. On the same visit, I also had a pair of sunglasses that I had purchased there, but the security sensor had never been removed. I brought the sunglasses back, showed them my receipt, and explained the situation. Instead of simply resolving the issue, I felt like I was being scrutinized as if I had done something wrong. This was a very frustrating and embarrassing experience. I had my receipt, I had purchased the items at the store, and yet I was treated with unnecessary suspicion. There is clearly a problem with the store's system and procedures. Marshalls needs a better system for tracking purchases and removing security tags, and customers should not be made to feel uncomfortable when they are simply trying to resolve an issue. There were never any close enough to me but I'm always in CT now and was glad I found this one. If you've never been, they carry a lot of hiking, gym, & outdoor gear but for Marshall's prices. They are very reasonable and also have the best pet section! Tons of reasonable toys and supplies for your fur baby. If you're planning a camping, hiking or outdoorsy trip, this should be your first stop- they have everything and more that you'll need!

I've been to a few good Walmarts and a lot of bad ones - this one is actually ok…read more Firstly, whether you like Walmart or not, they have usually good prices on most items that will be priced higher elsewhere. It's this one constant which compels me to keep going or trying Walmarts - the prices. Nice lure for sure obviously, but to save a few bucks on just simple hygiene products (for example) is worth the trip and often the aggravation. Like most other locations, this one is stocked the same and the basic store layout here is like most others. If you frequent Walmart in general, you'd know where to find most items. This location does have the grocery/produce - though due to the lines, I'd get that last unless you want your frozen peas to be already thawed by the time they're rung out. The employees seemed ok here. I had very little interaction, but they didn't seem as miserable as most I've seen and they appeared to be actually working - which can't be said for locations closest to me. The cashier was quick, efficient, and friendly. There was actually more than 2 registers open for the time I went - though it was a weekend this time. They also have the scan it yourself registers, but they don't have an IQ requirement for it sadly. There is an employee there to help, but some customers just need to avoid trying to do it themselves when they can't even manage a shopping cart. Speaking of, expect the best of the worst here as far as customers go. Walmart does seem to attract the strangest, smelliest, rudest, dumbest, most oblivious, sloppiest, zombie-like customers above any other chain store that I've seen. I guess for the business that's great, but for a normal customer like myself it's annoying. So bring that bottle of patience with you when inside not only this location, but all Walmarts. A bottle of sanitizer and maybe breathing through your mouth are other good defenses. This Walmart shares the parking lot with several other businesses and the lot during a busy time can be a mess. It's not the best structured parking lot, so use caution. Most of the mess is in the front parts, so if you want to avoid that or don't mind walking a few extra feet (like me), there's plenty of spots in the far end. All in all a typical Walmart - just one that's not as bad as most of it's sister stores. With all due respect, when people say things like this Walmart is the worst or one of the worst - it's certainly not true in my opinion. I've been to some absolutely putrid, stomach churning locations in several different states and this one is not at all as bad as they are.

After this one-time experience , I think I'll stick with the one in Brewster. The outside of the store is kind of messy and looks like it's not maintained....it could literally be abandoned and you wouldn't tell the difference. You walk in and it's a standard Kohl's, only more tired and flatter. I know that may be hard to picture but when you go to the Brewster Kohl's and walk in, there's always a bright, seasonal display that is very welcoming and puts you in the mood to shop. Here, it was just a mess of carts haphazardly sitting around in the entry and some luggage that I wasn't sure was on display or was just waiting to be stocked. The selection was okay and they had stock, but there were a few areas that it looked like stocking had started but then been abandoned halfway through. Like boxes and carts and ladders just sitting in aisles and between racks. Not a big deal and maybe they're gearing up for back to school but just a little messy. What was the least appealing thing about this place is how long it takes to check out. We were the second people in line and just wanted to purchase one pair of swim trunks. It took a long time and there were no self service options such as they have at Brewster. Some dude had a complex return apparently so it took three cashiers several minutes to resolve that while the line kept growing. Then when we got to the cashier, he seemed really burnt out, which I can get and I empathize with. So a self-service option would have been quicker and a better experience. Anyway, the key takeaway from this review is that if you're in the greater Danbury metro area, take a ride on 84 West to Brewster and check out the Kohl's near the Southeast train station.

I was waiting in line for 20 minutes where this wasn't a problem and then all of a sudden it was. He yelled at the third time and then muttered something under his breath, but he wasn't looking at me when I went up to the register so it felt personal. There weren't that many people there and only two cashiers. He was one of them because he was completely facing away from me. I had no idea he was talking to me. Asked me if I wanted a bag and to give my phone number. I said yes to the bag and no to the phone number And he seemed annoyed by this. Additionally, he didn't bag any of the items that I was worried would get damaged in the rain. Also, he snapped at me when I tried to scan my credit card after he scanned everything and asked me if I wanted bags for an additional fee. Assuming the transaction was ready to happen, I went to go swipe my card and yelled at me that it was not the right time to do that. And then I would have to do it again. I noticed that it was registering and I did everything right. And I wasn't scanning again for that purpose and I kindly told him that. Final straw was when I was trying to walk out and the stuff that I was getting as gifts had tags on them that were setting off the alarm. When I brought them back to ask him to please remove them, as that was embarrassing enough, he was complaining that I wasn't handing them to him fast enough and he had to finish scanning someone else, even though the merchandise wasn't even over-the-counter yet and I didn't want it fall on the floor and get dirty. Again, it was a gift. Really annoying and snarky. I don't do my job like this and I don't expect other people to either. I get it, it's a minimum wage job, but you should take pride in what you do. I was perfectly nice until I wasn't treated nice and then I was indifferent at most. He was rude. And he needed a little bit more customer service training if we're being honest.
