We waited over one hour for our food. 3:52pm - 5:02 pm and we never got our food. Unbelievable. There was over 5 people that got food before us even though they came after us. Stopped by today for lunch. The place has a both inside and outside patio. Inside is small with about 10-12 tables. For appetizers we ordered a popcorn shrimp which were perfectly fried. A really good crispiness. The fries were also nicely fried. For a main meal I had the shrimp po boy which had plenty of shrimp and a really nice remoulade sauce. Me and my friend visited here yesterday and at first we were really excited and have been trying to eat there since sunday ( they are closed sunday and monday ) . We were excited up until we ordered our food and we tried to get a drink as well and we asked if they had any lemonade and we were told no. Then, we asked if they had any water and the young employee by the name of Ty answered "does it look like we have any water". We were so appalled by this statement and it put a sour taste it our mouth as this was a highly referred resturant but the service was terrible. The shrimp po boy was a 6/10. On Thyme is definitely not "On Time". We ordered the daily special yesterday (Shrimp and Wings), waited 34 minutes for my takeout order. Received an explanation that they had run out of shrimp and was waiting for a new batch. Remember, this is the daily special... you don't run out of the daily special. In the end the shrimp was cold and add insult to injury they didn't give me my side which he promised "everything is in the bag". I was fortunate enough drop in the other day for lunch and couldn't have been more impressed. The food, I had the Omg, Fish Sando, and it was stacked with the best tasting fish, good enough where it would've been incredible even if it wasn't accompanied by fresh slaw and an amazing in-house sauce. This place is really really good. My lady and I just got some insanely good food and service. She got the fish sandwich and I got the po'boy. While I loved my po boy, her fish sandwich was "On Thyme". It was so good! Stacked with fish and some slaw and a beautiful sauce which complied the fish perfectly. And my shrimp po boy was a winner too! I ate it all and was shocked at the price of 10 bucks. Great deal. The service was great and everyone was super cool. This restaurant opened in a neighborhood institution- Booty's Soul Food-open after hours. I was excited to see lunch and dinner hours with take out and a food truck. I met "the ladies" for lunch last Thursday and was back for a mid afternoon meal with another discerning seafood lover today (Tuesday). That says something! The business model is guests walk to the counter- grabbing a non alcoholic beverage (or jarred dessert) from a double case with ample choices including a locally sourced sweet tea option. One can choose to eat inside with AC or in an outdoor area with covered tables and fans mounted. Once paid? Guests receive a number to place on their table- order is brought to you. But let's get to why I've been twice in 6 days. The food!!!!! Absolutely fresh hot and delicious! On first visit I tried the OMG fish sandwich. It most definitely lived up to the name and exceeded expectations. Two BIG freshly fried fillets hanging off the bun dressed with pickles, slaw and a sauce that's a bit ranch and a bit hot without leaning too hard into it. The sandwich is seriously good and outrageously fresh. Don't be that person that asks- does it taste like fish? It tastes like just caught fresh fish and that's a good thing. So. Good. One friend had the surf n turf- burger with shrimp together. She literally gobbled it down and she's lead chef at a downtown seafood restaurant. Our senior Lady- ordered the Fish and Shrimp basket with hush puppies, fries and slaw. That sauce? On the side. I was side eyeing that basket. She packed up the extra and I was seeing at least one more meal. Our fourth got the appetizer "It takes Two". Whoa. Philly Steak Egg-rolls- it's a thing and you want them. Fried shrimp and? Chicken wings. She too is a chef. And although our ladies have appetites? It does take "two" and a another take home box was required. Me also and my only regret was that I needed to deconstruct my sandwich to reheat it. I considered this dilemma for my round two visit. I've mentioned that service has a counter self service- however staff are quick to inquire about additional needs, clear and communicate. So. Visit two? I was ordering that fish and shrimp basket (I'm eating the reheat now- Yumsville!) my friend has a large appetite so I directed her to the OMG fish sandwich. We arrived around 3pm on Tuesday which "should" be slow. Indeed- dining in (or outside) was slow but pick up was jamming! Staff was working cheerfully and efficiently. Well- yes they're wildly popular- as it should be! My friend was appropriately impressed. Even admitting that Onthyme just might be her new favorite seafood restaurant. High praise indeed. I've sworn by another for several years but I've got to say? For fresh fried seafood and the things that go with them? These folks are the Bomb! On Thyme is such a welcomed addition to the Castle Street district. I have wanted to try this place for several months, packed full of happy looking patrons every time I tried going. Well, today was my lucky day! You know it's going to be a tasty meal when there isn't a seat open at 2PM. The first thing I noticed was the absolutely enthusiastic and kind staff!!! The decor was had a modern feel with tables and booths inside and copious outdoor seating for when the heat index isn't 105 :) My bff and I got a seat inside, perused the menu, and then headed to the counter to order. I got the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and he got the Friday special, Cajun Shrimp Po Boy. Both were cooked to perfection and seasoned by expert hands. I also grabbed the coolest dessert I'd seen in a long time, a red velvet cake packaged in a lil jar from Imaginary Cakes. It was moist and perfect! This place is a gem. The service and all of the employees where friendly and nice. We had 3 different staff members ask us how our meal was, which speaks to the care and pride they take in their food. The food was delicious!! We had the shrimp po boy, which was so yummy and the shrimp were breaded just right. We had a garden salad and fried chicken.
