This place is so good! We've been here two times and the first time they were a touch light on the fillings, but this time on Saturday.... Wow!!! Just delicious!!! What a bargain with a huge burrito that I struggled to finish but I did because it was so good. Plenty of chips and an awesome salsa bar. I absolutely love some Flaming Amy's. New salesman for this area so I was able to introduce him to the Barn. We both had burritos and the salsa bar. The tea was awesome and the burritos massive and tasty. I had the shrimp thiaastic and it was delicious. The chips were fresh and crisp and the salsa was the bomb. I had pineapple/ jalapeño, peach/mango/ habanero, avacodo/ wasabi and the sweet tomato salsa. Nothing over the top hot. All delicious. Music was the bomb also as nothing but solid 80's rock. The Barn is a sticker magnet and the decor is eclectic at best. Plenty of parking in the private lot. You order at the bar and then they assign you to a table and they bring out your fresh hot cooked delicious meal. Service is timely and friendly. Staff is as eclectic as the Barn. Today was tattoo Tuesday so since William had a tat we got a discount. Like I said fun and eclectic. Awesome place. read more

Everything is filthy. The service is horrendous and the women who work there are actually abusive to the customers. The salsa bar looks as if a bunch of sloppy drunk people have been dipping their filthy hands into it and letting the sauce drip all over the bar. I started as a kid with the bandito kids burrito, then I graduated to the big jerk and now I enjoy the Thai me up (I get it pretty much every time) I've been wanting to post a meaningful review about this place cause I love it so much and I've traveled a lot and have had plenty of burritos around the world but they don't compare. I haven't been to Flaming Amy's in years because I had a bad experience at their Carolina Beach location the last time I went (don't get a shrimp quesadilla; unless it was just an off day). But, I decided to bring my youngest to their main location this past weekend because she had been craving a burrito all week. We had to run and errand at the mall and Flaming Amy's automatically came to mind. We had a great meal and a great time. Our build you own burritos were good (no shrimp), along with the queso. I also am in love with their wasabi guacamole; my new favorite thing. I've talked a lot of trash about Flaming Amy's falling off through the years, but this last visit totally redeemed them. We'll definitely be back, & we'll also try the CB location again (just no shrimp, lol). read more

Drove to the Closed Location and got disappointed as it was closed, Drove to the Open Location and got disappointed because it was open and there was nothing exceptional about it. UGH I had the Jerk Chicken Burrito with Jerk Chicken and the Wife Chicken Quesadilla. Don't get me wrong the food was decent, my burrito was good but there was nothing Jerk about it, Lacked Jerk Flavor, the burrito itself was good but luckily they had Hot Sauce to add a little something to it. The Wife's Chicken Que was just so dry, the meat itself. I am going to keep this short and just say this place has so much possibility and falls short like we got famous and we stopped tasting our food, we do what we have always done. I got the Cheeseburgerito as is, and the Fried Fab burrito with shrimp and chipotle ranch. I thought they were both delicious and had unique flavors. Massive burritos, too, and only $1 for a basket of chips with the free salsa bar (all were cold, fresh, tasty). I ordered to-go and sat while they made my order. Took less than 10 minutes. Inside was somewhat run-down but had an old school vibe to it...Packed seats on a Sunday evening, classic hard rock playing through the speakers, and a mix of ages dining. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine (food and atmosphere), I would say this is not the place. However, it offers large servings at affordable prices that don't taste like a Sysco truck meal. read more

Okay so unpopular opinion I guess but we tried this place for the first time bc we had heard good things about it. It definitely was a 5/10 and that's being generous. 1. They " couldn't" throw my burrito on the grill. So I got a steamed (literal no browned crisp spots) flour tortilla. 2. Every "salsa" they had tasted like canned tomatoes. Even the spicy one was flavorless. 3. Never in my life has I seen white rice in a burrito with choosing it (options at chipotle) and with no flavor. Just plain white rice. 4. I got steak, pepper & onions, extra cheese, sour cream, beans, and lettuce in mine and EVERYTHING was sooooo flavorless. Even trying the meat on its own had no flavor. The salt and lime was the only saving grace, which I added. 5. The burrito was fat, I'll give them that. Nice and filling. It wasn't terrible. But it definitely wasn't great. 6. The only reason I gave good points is bc the tortilla chips was nice hot and fresh, although we had to salt and lime them ourselves. 7. My partner got the grilled chicken Greek burrito. Again, flavorless. Not juicy just wet. Very wet. The water from the can tasting vegetables soaked the bottom of the burrito creating a water balloon which leaked on the plate. Chips now soaked in water couldn't even the crunch of the chip anymore. Disappointing. For a place that is called a "burrito barn" I'm so disappointed. I thought I'd never make this post. I've been going to FA's weekly for years. I've been to every establishment they've owned and of course there's been issues but nothing I couldn't handle until last week. When I walked in, the person refused to take my order. I heard the other lady say, I'll take their order. I didn't think much of it. Maybe she was having a bad day. The food was mediocre. Not amazing like normal. It was very bland. We finished and I went to their rest. She follows me in and she immediately started washing. I went in the one stall they have. She leaves and turns out the light on me. Flaming Amy's has always been my favorite spot in Wilmington ever since they replaced the Plantation Grill. Good sized portions, tasty fusion, and a welcoming vibe make me feel at home every time I come in. I absolutely love their pineapple jalapeño salsa! Funky, irreverent, and a Wilmington institution! This place draws a ton of Wilmington, locals as well as college students. The interior is eclectic and colorful with a ton of stickers all over the place. The place has a very cool vibe, and the food is absolutely delicious! I've seen people negatively review the place due to lack of consistency of food and questionable server attitudes, but I've been here 1 million times and have had nothing but great experiences. I had a burrito here a couple weeks ago and it was not all that the bumper stickers hype it up to be. The waiters/ servers were every bit of nice, and inside it is absolutely stunning. The food was very sub par, bland, had an insane amount of bean juice in it, and honestly looked so appetizing but only hot sauce made it bare-able. I ordered takeout and pressed a doorbell outside. It was a short wait. I didn't look hard through the menu when I saw the spicy option was first. I got it with "jerk tofu" out of a wide variety of flavor options. They provide beans in addition to the grilled filling, and my burrito had rice and lettuce and a variety of other odds and ends in there. For being the spiciest thing on the menu, it wasn't crazy hot, but it was satisfying. A small side of chips with two salsas was included, which I didn't really need but which certainly made for value for the money. I thought about fried avocado slices too, but apparently they're not vegan. I couldn't tell whether that meant they had some light egg-based batter or were fried alongside meat or something else, but I steered clear of them. Regardless, I had plenty of menu options. First off I will talk about what I liked pertaining to my experience today at foaming Amy's. I loved the peanut flavor that was a hint in the sauce used on my nachos. My husband got the Bacon burger burrito and told me that it tasked just like a burger, and was so full from the large burrito that he didn't eat the few chips that were on the plate. What I didn't like. 1. Using microwave to heat up people's food. Yes I watched them even with regut nachos. 2. The floors where so gross. Dingy and laden with trash pieces. 3. The vets located right above the table were were seated at had what appears to be very dirty filters. There was a good portion of food, the burritos were a pretty decent size. The salsas were amazing. However I just feel the burrito was bland, I got the chipotle BBQ and if it wasn't for the salsa it would have been a bust. It didn't taste bad but it didn't blow my mind. We also got the chips and queso, the queso was good, but it was just too runny for my preference. Didn't experience the service or ambiance cause we got our stuff to go. Cannot say enough good things about the service at Flaming Amy's! We visited the Carolina Beach location in search of vegan options. I had the Thai Me Up burrito with fried tofu and vegan cheese. It was different in a good way! The buffalo style tofu was enjoyed by my fiancé and our son had the bean burrito. The complimentary salsa bar was a hit as well. House margaritas are only $3 on Wednesdays and they have different drink specials and discounts each day. Despite us being there a few minutes after closing, the young women working there were sooooo sweet. They even gave us chips to take home and gave my son extra cheese dip as well. Burrito madness. Some darn good burritos with a side of fresh in-house salsa and chips for lunch. Doesn't get tastier. Order at the counter (expect a line) and then they assign you a table/seat. Don't blink because your food will come asap. Make sure to try a couple salsas but don't be a "salsa hog". I had the shrimp makirito and it was great. I'd give them 10 stars! This is a Local place that I've been going to for 20+ years. The Food is delicious and you can tell it's made with love. The staff is always friendly. This is a family friendly place and it's always buzzing with people. The salsa bar is amazing. The wasabi avocado and pineapple jalapeño are two of my favorites. I usually go for the flaming Amy or avocado burrito but have had a couple of others. There's definitely an eclectic selection ranging from a meat lovers dream to Thai. And don't forget the chips and salsa(s). Speaking of salsa...they have a salsa bar with several types of salsa for everyone. I want to start off by saying that I eat it flaming Amy's quite a bit. It's one of my favorite places. The food is amazing, the salsa bar is out of this world, and the atmosphere is a whole vibe. Up until today I've never had a bad experience. I believe her name is Angel (at least that's what I was told it was when I asked) She took our order and was extremely rude. We had a party of nine, and separate orders. She wasn't too happy that our order was split. Not sure why that really matters. However, she made it blatantly obvious that she was annoyed. She told us that if we are all together, we need to be on one register so that she can help other people...."so what are we doing here?" Really? It's simple. Take my order, let me pay for it, tell me where to sit, and I'll be on my merry way. Being a bitch is not necessary. I try to give the benefit of the doubt. They were busy today. Maybe she was stressed. But a couple that sat next to us told us that no, it's not because they were busy... She's a bitch all the time. They had a bad experience with the same girl. Very cool place, we ended up looking for a place after a long day and came across this place. Environment is very eclectic but cool for all ages. Has a hipster vibe but really fun, has an outdoor area and also a side room more geared toward kids. Menu is a pretty large tex mex style menu of tacos, burritos, quesadilla, salads and dips. Food is fantastic, portions are large and prices are reasonable. My table had some build your own bowls and I had a burrito the Notorious P.I.G. which was extremely good, very meat filled and tasty. Chips were great, not the thin greasy ones of a chain competitor. The salsa bar was also on point with 9 or so different salsas, honestly could of made a meal on chips and salsa.
