Experience was fine, service was good, view is excellent but the food just isn't good enough. This place could be real good but they have to work on the flavor of the food. I had grilled Mahi tacos and they just weren't very flavorful. The corn tortillas weren't grilled so it was like eating them right out of the bag. Wife had the Garden salad with Mahi. She said the Mahi was good, but I thought the veges were low grade. Son had Fried Flounder which was fine but it's hard to mess up fried fish. The Fries tasted like frozen Food Lion brand. I would like to give this place another try in the future because it's the only option on the end of the island. But the food has to improve. read more

I wanted to share the most amazing experience at Riverview. We hosted our daughter's wedding there on Sunday , March 30th, and it was over the moon fantastic! The location is gorgeous, the facility so spacious and comfortable, and everyone was raving about how magical the night was. Amy, the manager , assisted me the entire year prior of planning this affair. Every time I emailed her, she emailed me right back with helpful answers. She made the planning so easy and successful! I cannot praise her enough. She is professional, helpful and just all around wonderful to work with. She also bartended the event, and did a wonderful job. Food is okay, nothing to rave about. But the intracoastal and pier views makes it more enjoyable to eat at. The menu is limited, all seafood (mostly fried), but they did have specials with pork and a fried green tomato BLT. The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating, enough to fit a big party. There is also outdoor seating with some of the outdoor seating in a mesh screened area. Warning though, I sat in the mesh screened area and yet, somehow, the bugs still found me. Not fun! They have their own free parking lot. It's a casual atmosphere. You place your order with the cashier, then they give you a number and you find a table of your choosing to sit at. I tried the grilled mahi tacos and my partner tried the catfish po-boy sandwich. The mahi itself was tender. The seasoning was lackluster, just simple black pepper. The serving was three tacos with one corn tortilla each and only one small lime slice. Parts of the bread for the po-boy were rock hard. The coleslaw that came with the tacos had way too much seed seasoning that was overpowering. My partner's coleslaw didn't have as much seasoning though. The crinkle cut fries were okay, not super crispy, but the seasoning was good. Alcohol is available. read more

I had the seafood basket. It was $29. It included fries, slaw flounder,shrimp and oysters. It had 3 oysters, 3 shrimp and a piece of flounder. The flounder was delicious. I expected more oysters and shrimp for that amount. Would not go back. Went to another restaurant close by. I had so much shrimp and oysters and 1piece of flounder. It was $27 and well worth the money . I could not eat it all! River view needs to cut prices or add more shrimp and oysters. I would not even expect that amount for lunch read more

This has been a lovely addition to Kure Beach. It's fun to hop on the golf cart for a quick ride down to this casual spot. I got the fish tacos and they were well seasoned and great portions. It's a casual spot with no table service but a wonderful view of the water and sunset. Prices are reasonable for the beach and seafood. Plus it's always wonderful to support a local place. We were excited to try something new on the island. This isn't a traditional sit down Resturant. Wait in line to order- (took us 22 minutes) take a number - then find a table and your basket will be delivered. You wait on yourself for drinks / plastic silverware/ condiments. Menu is 90% fried food. Pro- food came pretty quick after we found a table. View of riverfront is nice We ordered the platter of shrimp / oysters and flounder $25 - asked first if enough to share for 2- was assured should be. Small servings of each. So wouldn't recommend the share. It's a new place and I know they are working through things - I wish them well! We probably won't be back this season. A bit too pricey for what you get and the way it's executed. read more

First time visiting and it did not disappoint! Such a unique setting among a military recreation base that had good food and perfect sunset over the Cape Fear river. We ordered the grilled shrimp and mahi mahi tacos. Both were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Loved the hot sauce crema that they put on there. All the staff were efficient and courteous and their view will mesmerize! Current emphasis is on fried seafood and it will will not disappoint. Tasted fresh, served hot and ample servings.
