    COD cakes

This food truck rolls in frequently throughout the year. The cod is always fresh out of the fryer and enough for lunch. Grab their clam chowder or new cod cakes to fill up. The cod cakes are 5 mini fish fried fish balls. They would be a good kid (1-4 year old) lunch as they are similar to fish sticks. The fries are a go to and I could eat them alone just for a snack! The crew is always so friendly and love to tell you about their travels and which sauces to mix and try to enhance your meal experience. The wait is usually 8-10 minutes but on good days the lines can get long at noon and 5pm so be prepared to stand or wait in your car.

This food truck serves up some of the absolute best, Fish & Chips. It comes about once a month to the same location in Glen Carbon. It sets up on the far edge of the parking lot for Lowe's, so it is easy to find. Their cod is line caught, not net, which means it is super fresh. Once it is on board the boat, it is cleaned and frozen. Processing it so quickly locks in the flavor. The fish is prepared to order and has a light crisp coating. The flakey cod is hot and steam rolls off of it as you break it with a fork, or bite into the big pieces. The fries are equally as crisp and fresh. I am not a tauter sauce man, but I do like theirs. The lines can be long depending on the time of day you go, but they move quickly and the staff inside the truck is friendly and professional. I like it so much, I go every time they are in town. If you become a fan too, I recommend signing up for alerts so you know when they are in town.

I went to On The Hook when they came to Olathe recently. Customer service was great. Fish and fries were hot, fresh and made to order. Only complaint I had was that they ran out of tartar sauce. Tartar sauce is a STAPLE. If anything, that is the last thing to run out of. However, I still enjoyed my good.

I am a fan of food trucks, and this truck shows up in different places around the metro. I visited today in Lee's Summit. Menu is limited, as to be expected with a food truck. Fish &Chips $16 + local taxes. You can order extra fish, and you just get fries $6. They were out of root beer for $3 and coleslaw. If you want to eat here, find an alternate place to get your beverage. So now for the food. The fries are great, coated fries, crispy, and hot. Comes with malt vinegar and ketchup. There is also a sweet dipping sauce that I did not use. You get 3 large pieces of fish. Crispy coating but does not overpower the fish. White fish that is fresh and does not taste 'fishy'. As a food truck experience, this was great. As for food, it was good. I would definitely buy fish from On the Hook again.

Traveling food truck. caught them in Excelsior Springs. was a chilly afternoon and they had a full line from opening at 11am until closing at 7pm. Fish and chips were not super greasy and were very hot hot hot right outta the fryer. all cooked beautifully and crisp not soggy. Appreciate they put everything in grease absorbing thick recycled cardboard containers and not styrofoam. this helps it not get soggy if you drive your food home. they sell Chowder as a special. (look on papers posted in windows for special items off menu!) and also sell drinks like bottled sodas. $15 for the fish and chips. option to buy just fish or chips or add more of either. tatar sauce, vinegar and ketchup provided in each meal. Coleslaw also. Nice staff. Cards and online payments (like apple pay) only. NO CASH except tips accepted.

Had people tell me about this food truck and even saw pics, where people would stand in the rain (for this place). Well, tonight I tried it - and I wish (I liked) this place - as I like supporting food truck operations. This isn't anything to write home about - and there is hardly a reasonable value to the end product. Fish: Some sort of bland farm raised fish filets, which aren't hardly too big at all. The batter starts to go more tempura style, which is fairly bland and lacks any punch of seasoned flavor. Fries: These are like a double fry exterior fry, that are some ok, even decent, pre-fab fry product (from Sysco or some other food supplier). Are they the likes of a great fresh-cut fry? Not at all. Cost: See the pic of (3) smaller fish fillets and fries. That is $15. Served out of a food truck in a styrofoam container. Conclusion: The food is marginally ok at best. It isn't anything worth seeking out as "Oh, this is really good". And you certainly won't think: "Oh, this is some special food fish". So, (the fish and chips) is hardly a value at all...for what you get in food.

I've been meaning to find On The Hook Fish Truck since I saw them on Facebook. I chose the windiest night to locate them. They were in the parking lot at Lee's Summit At Home store. There were quite a few people waiting. One the Hook has Fish and Chips and that's it. A plate has 3 large pieces of breaded fish and battered fries. It's $14. It's worth the cost. The fish are large pieces, in smooth batter. They come with sirachi mayonnaise and tater sauce. There's a few menu options as well. If you have the chance, find this truck. It's worth it!

Wow couldn't wait to try this but sorry it's not worth the wait in line or definitely not worth the price for the 3 small pieces you get!!!

They're just as important to me as any side with home-style southern cuisine!   My partner tried their shrimp as well, and their macaroni & cheese. He Too agrees their food was a real good time! I look forward to my 2nd visit there for sure! I'm thankful we caught them on a slow day! Hehe ^__^ There were only a couple others there waiting for their goodies when we got there. The time of day is everything indeed! But again, excellent food! And next time I'll Have to try their smoked chicken wings! I'm a Monster for wings! o____o

This place is the worst fried fish place Ive ever been…read more The fish was old and had been sitting out. They served catfish in our order. We never ordered that. Nothing is fresh about this fish. Its also the most unappetizing fish weve ever eaten or laid eyes on. Our order was completely wrong. When we asked what "white fish" they served, the lady taking our order couldnt tell us. Red beans and rice are horrific. Hush puppies are dry and stale. Literally nothing is good. We also ordered the half dinner and it says everywhere online and in the restaurant that you get 4 pieces of fish. She said we only got three on the phone. They need to update their information. Horrible, horrible food. This is a fake southern food spot. Do not eat here.
