This food truck serves up some of the absolute best, Fish & Chips. It comes about once a month to the same location in Glen Carbon. It sets up on the far edge of the parking lot for Lowe's, so it is easy to find. Their cod is line caught, not net, which means it is super fresh. Once it is on board the boat, it is cleaned and frozen. Processing it so quickly locks in the flavor. The fish is prepared to order and has a light crisp coating. The flakey cod is hot and steam rolls off of it as you break it with a fork, or bite into the big pieces. The fries are equally as crisp and fresh. I am not a tauter sauce man, but I do like theirs. The lines can be long depending on the time of day you go, but they move quickly and the staff inside the truck is friendly and professional. I like it so much, I go every time they are in town. If you become a fan too, I recommend signing up for alerts so you know when they are in town.

This food truck rolls in frequently throughout the year. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cod is always fresh out of the fryer and enough for lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Grab their clam chowder or new cod cakes to fill up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cod cakes are 5 mini fish fried fish balls. They would be a good kid (1-4 year old) lunch as they are similar to fish sticks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The fries are a go to and I could eat them alone just for a snack![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The crew is always so friendly and love to tell you about their travels and which sauces to mix and try to enhance your meal experience. The wait is usually 8-10 minutes but on good days the lines can get long at noon and 5pm so be prepared to stand or wait in your car.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fish was good, I think it's a bit pricey but otherwise it was decent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Workers were nice and wait wasn't too too long.

I went to On The Hook when they came to Olathe recently. Customer service was great. Fish and fries were hot, fresh and made to order. Only complaint I had was that they ran out of tartar sauce. Tartar sauce is a STAPLE. If anything, that is the last thing to run out of. However, I still enjoyed my good.

I am a fan of food trucks, and this truck shows up in different places around the metro. I visited today in Lee's Summit. Menu is limited, as to be expected with a food truck. Fish &Chips $16 + local taxes. You can order extra fish, and you just get fries $6. They were out of root beer for $3 and coleslaw. If you want to eat here, find an alternate place to get your beverage. So now for the food. The fries are great, coated fries, crispy, and hot. Comes with malt vinegar and ketchup. There is also a sweet dipping sauce that I did not use. You get 3 large pieces of fish. Crispy coating but does not overpower the fish. White fish that is fresh and does not taste 'fishy'. As a food truck experience, this was great. As for food, it was good. I would definitely buy fish from On the Hook again.

Had people tell me about this food truck and even saw pics, where people would stand in the rain (for this place). Well, tonight I tried it - and I wish (I liked) this place - as I like supporting food truck operations. This isn't anything to write home about - and there is hardly a reasonable value to the end product. Fish: Some sort of bland farm raised fish filets, which aren't hardly too big at all. The batter starts to go more tempura style, which is fairly bland and lacks any punch of seasoned flavor. Fries: These are like a double fry exterior fry, that are some ok, even decent, pre-fab fry product (from Sysco or some other food supplier). Are they the likes of a great fresh-cut fry? Not at all. Cost: See the pic of (3) smaller fish fillets and fries. That is $15. Served out of a food truck in a styrofoam container. Conclusion: The food is marginally ok at best. It isn't anything worth seeking out as "Oh, this is really good". And you certainly won't think: "Oh, this is some special food fish". So, (the fish and chips) is hardly a value at all...for what you get in food.

They're just as important to me as any side with home-style southern cuisine!   My partner tried their shrimp as well, and their macaroni & cheese. He Too agrees their food was a real good time! I look forward to my 2nd visit there for sure! I'm thankful we caught them on a slow day! Hehe ^__^ There were only a couple others there waiting for their goodies when we got there. This review is for the experience I had Monday, August 25th…read more J's Fish & Chicken was interesting. Their food was really good and super flavorful. Just gonna make this clear though-they are generous with their salt. I feel it's important you consider this and request them to not salt your food beforehand. Other than being overwhelmed with the amount of salty lemon pepper-style seasoning they coat your fried goodies with,  the food was very delicious and well prepared! I ended up trying bone-in wings with shrimp with a side of fries. Their fries were a bit too oily for my personal preference as well, but still flavorful. I just gotta be sure to request No salt dustings next time! ^__^ The batter used on my shrimp came off easier than expected too, which was something I haven't experienced before, so that's perhaps the way they batter them before frying?   I'm not sure.  Again, they were awesome. The seasoning used In their shrimp batter was very good!  The only uncomfortable part about being at the restaurant was their unusual waiting lobby. Not only was it Very hot in there but you could Barely hear the individual taking your order behind that large protective sheet of plastic/glass?   They really had to make you yell and repeat yourself unfortunately. That was one of two issues I had with the entire experience.   Other than remembering to request no salt dustings and remembering how loud  I gotta be when taking my order,  I do look forward to trying more of their products in the future.

A co-worker told me about this place. Her and her husband jump on their Harley and come here occasionally. It seems to be frequented by bikers and has a nice double tiered deck that overlooks a small river that empties into the Mighty MO just around the bend and with being right next to the train tracks and the entire building being elevated by stilts for flood protection; Catfish Charlies has an old school remote roadhouse vibe. I was eager to visit. I sat at the bar dining solo and had miserable service. The two waitresses that I had interaction with seemed like they had just ridden in non-stop from a biker rally 24 hours away in bad weather and needed sleep or just hated humanity. Never once a smile or "how ya doing", the kind of things that usually make small town America so charming - not here. I ordered the catfish basket since catfish is in the name of the establishment. For $10 - no issues with the price - I received 3 small fillets, 2 hushpuppies, a few fries and tartar sauce. The plate was set down on the waitresses trip across the floor, so I wasn't able to ask for my mandatory hot sauce until 1/2 way through my meal when I was able to ask for it when one of the surly waitresses came behind the bar to retrieve a drink while completely ignoring me. The catfish was truly unremarkable, in fact I had a few catfish fillets from a grocery store to-go deli counter for lunch last week that were much better. Simply for the lack of customer service, I would never return, but I see how if your a local in this town with a population of 700, it could be your only option for food or drinks and the patio view is decent.
