I am writing this review for Air Clinic BEFORE they performed any work. I will write another review…read morelater (or update this one, whichever works here). You want to consider this an intermediate review, but just imagine how much value I have already received from working with Air Clinic and how impressed I am by their expertise and responsiveness only a great family business can provide. You will not find that anywhere else. I know because I just tried! In three weeks I spent a total of 5+ hours with 6 top companies in my area that do heating and cooling incl. Mitsubishi Diamond mini-split pros for my 3650 sqft house and all of them miserably failed providing an idea of how they work will solve my problem. Now, Air Clinic's approach to problem solving is fundamentally different from other companies I have EVER interacted with in the US. It's not a money-first approach. In most situations, Air Clinic will not ask you about your budget to create a solution for your budget (This is so dumb that solutions are money-driven! I hate those looks in technicians' eyes, like how much you are worth. Not with Air Clinic, though)... In stark contrast to those other companies, Air Clinic's absolute initial focus will be solving your problem. This is why this is a solution-first approach. You will be presented with the best possible options for your situation. This can ONLY be done by someone who is truly on top of things in their field and ONLY after they have spent enough time (hours?) analyzing your particular situation. At the end, YOU will be the one asking yourself what fits your budget. How does that sound? To me, this is the old-school best-quality service! Yesterday was a Friday and I called Arthur around 6 pm and described my HVAC problem to him. He asked if he could come right away. I was more than happy to hear that, because just before the call I was ranting to my family about all these HVAC companies that came to my house and gave me stupid solutions, then followed up with insane estimates. I was out of options. And then a friend of ours gave me Arthur's phone number. Arthur came with a fellow technician Artak from Madison Heights to Farmington Hills at 7:30pm, less than 1.5hrs after my call. This was not even a service call and not an emergency, it was a Friday night. Apparently, I sounded so frustrated, they ran to help me get things out of my head. They are a 24/7 service, by the way... My 1100sqft basement is currently a huge HVAC utility room, and because of that it can also be used as a storage space and that's all. Tens of thousands of dollars were spent by the previous owner and this was the best other companies were able to do. Arthur and Artak spent 2 hours at my house. We beat the problem to death, every detail, every error was discussed, nothing was left without. And only after we felt we were on top of things and a great solution was born for my very, very complicated case, we stopped and sat down to drink some tea and share some laughs and stories. I was so happy and relieved. We decided to move the work to September before the next heating season. I will return here for an update after Air Clinic is done with the implementation of the solution we decided to go with.

However, the technician let me know after the visit that he forgot his camera scope and would have to return to check the airflow. I paid $231.39 to be told they can't yet diagnose my issues. The service call was affordable and the part too; overall the invoice was extremely reasonable and actually way less than I anticipated it being. The owner of this business came promptly to my home to assess the problem, and then sent his "workers" to help me. His workers came three (3) days in a row and all they accomplished was tearing my house down. I had to call another company who promptly fixed the problem. There was no protection for my home. The auger ate up the bottom of my walls, there were no tarps used on my carpet and floors; and one of the workers used the walls throughout my home to steady himself. Dirt and oil all on my walls. I noticed on the last night they were when I erroneously thought that the problem was corrected, that there were smudges on my bedroom wall. I explained to the owner of the business (Malik Attles) that there was no reason for this gentleman to be in my bedroom. This being the case, I knew I needed to be on alert. Fast forward a few days later, two gold bracelets are missing, that I know of. May be more items missing. I called the owner after realizing the theft, and it became obvious that he had blocked me, and I had to use another number. Then, all that he could say is that, "he didn't know what to say." When a company comes into a customer's home it is incumbent on the owner to send credible, healthy, non-rogue individuals. I'm putting in my police report and I advise everyone to steer clear of this contractor.

I was traveling for work and my wife had no choice but to use this company because they were the only ones who could come out quickly. Big mistake. The tech diagnosed my indoor blower motor issue during the initial $189 assessment. He then quoted over $5,120 for a simple ECM blower motor replacement -- including separate inflated charges for "motor module/program" ($2,488) and "motor winding/special order" ($2,294). He claimed it needed special ordering and programming at a distribution center. After researching the exact model (Genteq 5SME39SL0674), I discovered these motors are readily available for $500-$800 as pre-programmed drop-in replacements from multiple suppliers. Labor should have been a few hundred dollars at most. This quote was 3-5 times what a fair price should be. I could even justify 3500 max in an emergency type situation. But the $5150 is an egregious amount for what was required. I felt completely taken advantage of, especially since my wife and child were in a bind with no AC. The "non-refundable once programmed" line felt like a classic pressure tactic. The service was completed, but the value was nowhere near what I paid. After tried to repeatedly get some sort of costs justification from the Manager during a call the next day, even being open minded to the HVAC system being described as the "Cadillac" of HVAC (2011 purchased and installed by the way) I received no back-up support and feel that this was just such a scammy way to run a company.
