Oh my god what a gem of a place!! Such a darling little outdoor gin/cocktail bar. It's linked with the next door Italian restaurant so the food is also AMAZING!! The concept of their build-your-own gin and tonic is so cute- you pick your gin and your tonic and then toppings (variety of citrus peels, berries, mint, basil, etc). The gin I chose had a citrusy backdrop with their grapefruit gin, topped with lemon peel, blackberries, and rosemary- DELICIOUS!! My friend and I shared the Arancini which were delicious and unique (saffron rice with cheese and short rib inside) fried and served on a bed of tomato sauce. Pizza we shared was the porcini and sausage one- delicious and with a spicy kick. HIGHLY recommend this spot!! read more

Stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon. We initially wanted to go to Amante but they were closed in between lunch and dinner. So we decided to try Ombra for drinks. The drinks were delicious!! This place is a little outdoor spot across from the Barnes & Nobles and it's perfect for people watching. Its small and cute and shaded! Once an hour passed, we were able to look at the menu to order. We started off with a charcuterie board to share. The prosciutto and cheeses were fine. The bread, although it was good, did not go with this board whatsoever! The bread had a little bit of sugar on it and had almost like a donut texture. Again, it was good on its own but not as part of tg3 charcuterie board! I had the pasta in the walnut sauce. OMG. It was amazing!! I will go back just for this pasta!! It was creamy and the pasta was filled with prosciutto and balanced perfectly with the nutty cream sauce. Just try it!! The rest of the dishes were fine. We decided to share the seasonal dessert to end our meal. Best decision ever! The pear was perfectly poached and balanced the Panna cotta really well. So good!! My sister and I go to the Americana basically every Friday. We like to do our returns there and get some pie at The Pie Hole. We had a long week and decided to treat ourselves to some wine at Ombra since we'd always wanted to try it. It's smack dab in the middle of the mall but somehow still peaceful and chill. I love the ambiance. The service was also very quick. We were brought menus right away and our order was taken shortly after. I love that they have a carafe option. It equals almost three glasses of wine so that's a steal when you split it with someone else. I'm only taking off a star because I wish they had more vegetarian options or just small bite options in general. We got the burrata flatbread w/o prosciutto. The last time I went they seemed be still working things out, even though they'd been open for a while. The clean marble table, the market lights hanging, the beautiful and famous Americana fountain as he backdrop, and the soft music playing just sets the mood for chill and fun settling. Ombra actually means shade or shadow. And the whole philosophy behind this place is how Italians do in Italy: cafes set their tables in the ombra and enjoy a glass of refreshing wine and relax. Our waiter was extremely sweet. She was so sweet and so funny. She helped us pick out our drinks and food. She informed us that we can custom make our drinks. So of course that was music to our ears since we're Yelpers over here!! We have to have those great photos. I decided to go with Gin and Coconut Tonic with whatever the bartender felt like garnishing it with. My friend went with the Jessica Rabbit drinks, which is a strawberry base drink. We also decided to get some food: Truffle Mac & Cheese, Cheese Board, and as if that wasn't enough cheese, we decided to go with the Spinach Cheese FlatBread. Moments later our drinks came out along with the food. They were all so pretty and so delicious. It was almost too pretty to drink or eat. My Gin & Tonic was so light yet full of flavor. It was overwhelmed with kale and this sticky cheese that'll make your stomach wrench. You get about 5 cubes of cheese for the price of an arm and a leg. Staff didn't ask if we were doing ok once, threw the check at us waiting for us to leave. If you want overpriced food and douchebag staff then this is the perfect place for you! read more

The outdoor only seating seems to be a good draw for this location...and one of the most commented on in reviews. Small place with limited seating. I bought a bottle of Shira to share with friends. It was decently priced and region appropriate for the wine. Check the price point to see if it is within your budget and give it a shot if you are into people watching or watching the courtyard. One thing I was not a fan of was one of the staff members shooting champagne corks into the tree. This bar is located at the center of the Americana Mall in Glendale. It's outdoor and they have a lot of heaters in the evening, but some of them function better than others. Regardless, still a decent place to relax, have a drink, and people watch. Depending on the day, service can be slow, but the servers are polite and try very hard. I believe I made a comment about one of the drinks on the menu and the server reacted to it when they came back by... so if anything, they have either microphones in the tables or very good hearing. All in all, they are very aware of their customers and I would say, that's a plus rather than a negative. The drinks are made to order and can be a slow process, but if you aren't in a rush, its not a bad place. Drinks were all decent and "worth the wait". They also serve bar snacks/apps here since the table next to us ordered food, but I think they said it took forever to get to them... and when it did, they didn't have utensils ... Opps.
