Another price rise on the platters--$10 now. Less competitive with the Chinese lunch special takeouts in the 'hood.

Okay, so this review is about the cutest little coffee shop in Harlem: Built Coffee. My cousin…read morefrequents this place all the time to do her work or just get out of the house, and even though she's not a big coffee drinker, she has been raving about their chai for the longest. And listen... I am a chai queen, so when someone tells me a chai is worth trying, I'm going. She kept telling me, "You're going to love this chai." She orders hers with oat milk and extra cinnamon on top, so that's exactly what I got -- and when I tell you this was one of the best chai lattes I have ever had in my entire chai-drinking life? Silky. Smooth. Perfectly spiced. Just the right amount of warmth. Just... everything. Truly a great chai. The shop itself has such a good vibe. It's not huge, but the space is cozy in the best way. If you don't mind communal seating, it's perfect for settling in with your laptop or a book. They have outlets, the ambiance is chill, and it's one of those spots where you can really get work done while still feeling comfy. I haven't tried their pastries yet, but the atmosphere and that chai alone keep me coming back. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and that's something I really appreciate -- it makes the whole experience feel even better. Built Coffee has definitely become one of our go-to spots for getting out of the house, doing work, or just sipping on something warm and delicious. And again... get the chai. TRUST ME.

Recently new vegan breakfast sandwich options were added for plant based proteins, and the nitro cold brew currently on tap is perfectly creamy as a black cold brew. The only downside is sometimes it's so popular you can't get a seat. Maybe it's a good sign that Manhattanville can open even more locations nearby!

We shared the MVP pizza, which I think of as a grandma pie, with mozzarella, pesto, and a mix of vodka and marinara sauces. The staff was very considerate when we asked for a square pie instead of a circle pie after an initial mix-up (thank you to Brian for his hospitality). Overall a great uptown hangout.

Probably the best brussels I have ever had in my life and I'm not even that much a fan of the veggie. I've ordered the salt/brown sugar latte twice now. The first time, I got it iced and it was extremely salty and just wasn't a good latte at all. This time around, I ordered it hot and asked them to ease up on the salt since last time it was very salty, they eased up on it and it was such a great latte, I was so happy with it! I've gotten the chicken and waffles twice as well! I'm a big fan of guava infused butter and got two with my order. Generally the chicken and waffles are a HIT, but the waffles tasted a bit off to me this time around. I think it could mainly be that I was focused on how surprisingly good the brussels and coffee were, that I wasn't too focused on anything else. Service is pretty ehh to me at this place. Love that so far each time I've gone at different times and during different seasons, it's never too packed. Even when it is, it doesn't feel like it. I have not tried the dinner, just the brunch! Brunch is def a go too, can't wait to go again! Also, have not had a cocktail here, but looking forward to trying to hibiscus mule next!

I ended up starving and looking for a place in the neighborhood for a breakfast sandwich. Rimar looked good from the outside, there were a bunch of banners announcing them as a "brand new" business having a "grand opening". Once inside, I realized that was probably not true. Looking around, I didn't see any coffee nor was there any kind of posted menu indicating the possibility of breakfast sandwiches. The man behind the counter was friendly enough though, and took my order for 2 bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on a roll. He also indicated that he DID have coffee. Great! While I was waiting in the store for 15 minutes for my order. I noticed a woman (maybe another owner) casing the place down and staring at everyone who entered. I noticed that the rest of the store sold only a bleak selection of junk food. There was nothing interesting on the shelves! I noticed a man and woman come in, have an entirely transactional conversation and then leave, buying nothing. I noticed two separate hipsters walk in, look around and then walk out. I waited and waited. Finally, my order was ready. Without any register or paper calculations, the man told me my order was $10 exactly. Not feeling too good about that. The coffee was super hot and actually ok, I think he brewed a fresh pot on my request (thank you for that). The breakfast sandwiches were pretty awful. Greasy eggs, strangely chopped and super greasy bacon, you get the picture. I think Rimar could really do much better. They are in a great location without a lot of direct competition, in a neighborhood, that I am certain, would support a nicer deli with expanded options.
