A robe, slippers and a spa bag for my belongings was already prepared - a nice touch. I started with the salt cave experience. It was relaxing and I was cautioned that anything I brought into the room would have a salt residue afterwards. I didn't really notice a salt residue at all, even on my wet hair. The spa music and the lounge chair did make for a quiet transition from my busy morning into peaceful relaxing mode. Afterwards, I enjoyed a bit of time in the relaxation room. For hot tea, each day they have both a caffeinated and a decaffeinated option. It was served on a cute tray with honey and sugar options. Last, my 90 minute massage. A choice of scalp massage or foot massage was offered and I opted for the foot massage without hesitation. I requested medium pressure and only asked once for a bit less pressure in a sensitive area of my lower back, and my therapist was quick to adjust. I chose the lavender blend massage oil and it smelled lovely. Special attention was paid to my shoulders where I carry most of my tension. Having booked only a couple of days in advance, I did make a deposit of 50% up front and was already within the cancellation window. If more than one service is confirmed, a 20% gratuity for each is automatically added but that was well explained up front and during check out. I noticed a list of monthly membership options during checkout and I'm actually considering joining. It was easy to get an appointment and very relaxing, though I'd probably skip the salt cave and go right to the massage or opt for a facial next time.

I booked a rooftop couples massage a month in advance. When we arrived, they told us the rooftop was closed, even though they had already taken my deposit for this service. The weather was perfect, they then offered to set up the rooftop quickly if I paid an extra $200. The manager rushed me to make a decision on the spot about whether I wanted to pay extra for the rooftop or move to a very small, not aesthetically pleasing room instead. This completely took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing experience and didn't make sense because this was the service I originally booked. The management and staff aren't professional or accommodating. Very strange experience. Following up on Kristy's message here: Urbanna spa accepted a deposit for a rooftop spa appointment. The only reason I booked with Urbanna spa was for the rooftop experience. I intentionally booked on the first day of spring, the weather was 77° with sunny skies and they told me the rooftop was closed after I arrived and checked in. I asked to reschedule on a day the rooftop was open, but no staff could confirm when the rooftop would be open. Kristy (who was not present during my appointment) claims alternative options were offered. Just want to clarify that this is also not true. The only option they gave me tiny room I've attached. I was told management would follow up with a call after my service but Kristy's comment below is the only follow up I've ever received from Urbanna spa. This is not your traditional spa experience. If you're used to high end spa experiences, this will feel very low quality. I highly recommend Woodhouse or Spa At Ballantyne if you're looking for that high-quality experience. Thank you, Kristy, your comments below are a perfect illustration of the quality of service at Urbana.

On this previous Saturday I had 3 lovely friends come to town and attempt to receive service. Let's…read morestart with the fact that they called the day before to cancel our services because 2 therapist called in and they weren't certain how to accommodate us. After a back and forth, they stated they would "work it out". Upon entry there was no concern, we checked in and got in our robes to prepare for service. I was walked about to the massage bed and asked what areas I would like worked on, I shared where my areas of concern were and was told to get on the bed to prepare for service as my therapist left the room. He then came back to the room to refuse to service me due to me being "too intoxicated" and "stumbling upon entry". I was transparent in having a drink at brunch prior to entry, and you are served a mimosa (alcohol right?) upon entry to the spa which I barely drank. The manager offered me a "swag bag" and a seat in a salt room. I was appalled as there was no where in writing you could not have alcohol before a service nor was there proof of me being too intoxicated. I asked the manager to please notify my friends I would be leaving and if they would like to continue. The manager Aiko told me no, she did not know where they were and she didn't plan to go find them. I told her I myself would find them to end our time there, as the card on file had not been charged which she assured me of. I then went to look for each individual and each session ended within 5-7 minutes of service. I was clearly upset and expressed such while talking both in the locker room and lobby as I felt the manager was dismissive, rude, and offered a pathetic resolution. The manager rushed to the front lobby and charged us for all massages, even though she claimed we would not be charged and the carb on file is held. I called to follow up today and the manager was not only smug and rude but called me drunk as well because she was upset I disrupted services by finding my friends as she had previously refused to. Terrible service. I've seen reviews of the subpar massages provided and glad I did not miss out on a thing! Luxury cost does not always equate to luxury service.

Overall, my mom and I did not have a relaxing experience at the Ballantyne Spa after years of…read morelooking forward to trying it (hence the robust review). The events leading up to our appointments caused more stress than zen, and the experience itself was mediocre at best. For Christmas this year, I purchased my mom a massage service and myself one at the same time to go together. She doesn't get to relax often, and I knew she wouldn't want to go alone. I found 2 appointments at the same time when I was in town, booked, received confirmation, all is good. I gave her the gift & she was excited, even getting us matching PJs to wear in the day of. We continued to receive confirmation emails and appointment reminders. The day before our appointments (which were at 8 AM, arrive at 7:30, which was also confusing because they spa said they open at 8?), we received a call at 11 AM that there was a glitch on their end, and they could not accommodate us as there were no other appointments at the same time that entire week. I called back, left a message explaining the situation and asked if there is anything we could do, and waited. 2 PM rolls around and we have heard nothing, and finally I have my mom try and call since my calls were not being answered. They answer and said the manager was working on a solution and would call back, but likely would not be able to find someone. 4 PM rolls around and we have not heard back. At the same time, we were receiving confirmations of our original appointments, forms to fill out, etc. Finally, that evening they let us know they would be able to accommodate us for our original appointments, which felt great after everything. We asked if there was anything they could do for the hassle and the manager offered 15% off our services. We went to fill out the forms so the next day would be hassle-free and, of course, none of the 8 links they sent us throughout the day worked. After the difficult and last minute issues, we were ready for a relaxing time. The next day, upon check in, we were asked to pay the full amount with no mention of a discount or apology for the difficulties we experienced. She told us to come back after our services to talk to the manager. We made the most of the rest of our time, but overall had issues with the spa itself, outside of booking issues, that led to a two-star review: - The spa promotes they are 'technology free,' even declaring outside of the waiting/relaxation room door that cell phones are prohibited, yet every single person in the wait room was on their phone (at least 10-15 people). We put our phones away prior to entering to follow the policy/enjoy a tech-free zone at a spa, and it was not relaxing walking into a room of everyone glued to their screen. Might as well not promote this if you do not enforce it. - The waiting/relaxation room is supposed to be a quiet place to relax with beverages and snacks pre or post service, but most the snacks were empty, the water for the tea was cold, and the constant shuffling of people coming in and out for their appointments was disturbing. The room was packed. - Half the clients were given a beverage post-service, and half were not it seemed. One client was told she could not get served champagne before 10 AM, yet multiple people were sipping on a glass. I had to spend about 10 minutes tracking someone down to even receive mine that comes with the service - They promote the pool as part of the spa, but when we went to go to the indoor pool it was filled with screaming kids so we opted out of that amenity. I understand its apart of the hotel, but then it shouldn't be promoted as a 'resort-style pool' with 'therapeutic whirlpools' as a spa amenity. - The locker room attendant was very difficult to find, with multiple clients walking around confused looking for assistance and talking to each other to get around. The tour at the beginning was not good/the attendant seemed confused. I probably would have given this a one star on the standards of how a 'luxury' spa should be, however both the massage services were good, and they did end up being able to accommodate us in the end. The whole experience, however, was disorganized, stressful, and not at all what we were expecting. Being a spa that requires their customers to give a 24-hour cancellation notice, it was disappointing that they were unable to do the same for their clients. The appointments were booked weeks prior where the glitch should have been caught. Overall, the booking experience put us off on the wrong foot, and the spa experience itself didn't make up for it. Definitely a bummer! TLDR: Stressful booking experience with hardly any accountability or regard from the spa, promotes to be tech-free and is not, feels like an in and out service vs. luxury spa experience, lack of staff/multiple confused guests, relaxation room not up to par and very busy, noisy pool with kids even though promoted as a spa amenity

Had a great experience! We were able to easily call to make an appointment the day before, but you…read morecan also make an appointment online. There's a big parking and they validate parking. When you spend more than $130, you can enjoy the amenities all day, they are open 8am- 8pm. There are 2 locker rooms, each locker room contains a sauna, and one of the locker rooms contains a steam room. You can also use the fitness center, the indoor pool and 2 jacuzzis. There are also showers, lockers that easily lock, and plenty of space/mirrors to get dressed with hair dryers. You get a robe and slip ons to wear. The saunas were comfy and a perfect temperature! Only thing it was missing was music in the sauna. The steam room was very steamy-too steamy!! It was eucalyptus, and it hit you in the face. I didn't last more than a minute in there. The pool was very nice and had windows overlooking The Bowl. The jacuzzis looked nice but we didn't get in. There were plenty of people but it wasn't too packed and we got to do everything we wanted. The hallways were dimly lit, nicely decorated and had soft spa music playing- very nice! It was very well staffed, I constantly saw employees walking around and they were all very friendly. And the staff member we signed in with showed us around- you get a key card to use the amenities. They offer mocktails, sodas, wine and champagne. They are in plastic glasses but understandable since there's a pool. There were also nuts/trail mix as a snack! I didn't see a place to order food, I guess you have to go to the hotel lobby. I got the hydrafacial with Olga. She was so kind and SO knowledgeable! She explained what she was doing and it was so refreshing. I could tell it really improved my skin. The facial room was very relaxing and the bed was comfy. It included a shoulder massage and ended with a warm, wet towel under my neck. The facial was the cheapest available and it was $200 for 25 minutes. Only things I didn't like- the spa needs a bit of a facelift and paint touch ups throughout. It was a bit pricy but I guess I understand since you are also paying for the whole spa day experience and not just the facial. A great way to spend a day and I would go back!
