Couldn't make much of the menu, so I went with some staple Punjabi selections and recommendations. Chana + a samosa will change your life, especially if you are vegetarian, add A little Saag with potato (aloo) to follow that up and you will be ready to be buried along with your prized possessions. Whatever you do, don't get the paneer tikka masala, or you will leave your family and stay in Vienna, or move to India. Craving meat, chicken makhani (butter chicken) will send you into the stratosphere, no need for Elon Musk. This place is great. Were literally wandering around Vienna late at night after 10 PM and couldn't find anything open and then we happened upon this place which was open and serving food upstairs with a rather hip little bar downstairs. The restaurant is not that large the downstairs of it has perhaps six or seven tables and maybe that many in the upstairs floor as well. It's a slightly treacherous climb to the bathrooms on the second floor. The bar is in the basement complete with total darkness, disco lights, a DJ, and drink specials. My kids went down there and had a drink and hung out and thought it was pretty cool until of course I showed up . They have a bunch of pseudo-American drinks on their drink menu like Miami Vice, sex on the beach ETC but they were not made the same way as they would make them in the United States. Back to the food. I was starving and there were six of us so we ordered a lot of stuff. The portion sizes were adequate not huge but not tiny either, pretty typical for European portion sizes. The food came out after not too long of a wait because of course we were the only people there however, it was all freshly prepared and looked beautiful. The waiter who was apparently the night manager and who comported himself as if he was the owner, which is a good thing not a bad thing, he clearly takes a personal interest in making everything perfect, and he was just wonderful. He was Indian I believe but he spoke German and English pretty perfectly. As people came and went going to the bar I heard him speak several other languages as well. Wow. In the kitchen he was speaking what sounded like Hindi. The tables are average to small size but adequate and the inside while it was very dim because it was dark outside and they have this huge TV where everybody was watching soccer, so everything worked out fine. As a bonus the man was familiar with gluten-free cooking and was happy to make suggestions for us I would definitely come back there again, I was tempted to come back for lunch the next day but I got vetoed by the family Who wanted to try out something new. Worst Indian food. Ordered garlic naan. Butter naan, chilli paneer & Butter paneer. Chilli paneer was spicy to the point of being inedible. The gravy of the Butter paneer was chalky. The naan's were NOT authentic, they were all purpose flour roti's. The chutney they served on the side looked stale, and we didn't risk trying it. Couple of customers left in a huff while we were waiting for our food. In hindsight we should've left too! read more

This was, by far, the worst experience that I have ever had at any Indian restaurant that I have been to. We ordered butter chicken and as we all four of us definitely were sure about the dish wasn't butter chicken we wanted to return our dishes. It took some time and we weren't satisfied with the raita as well. The butter chicken didn't look the way it should and tasted completely different. I would not recommend it, unfortunate. read more

Extraordinary food! Superb cocktails! Great location! But don't go downstairs to the bar. Believe me. Even tho they specialize in Indian food they do serve typical Austrian food there too (but honestly the Indian food there is sooo good so idk how anyone could order the boring Austrian stuff there) garlic naan is overly garlicky tho. The cocktails! Man! Super cheap (€4.90 for all of them including strong drinks) Try the Adios Motherf**ker!! It's fantastic. And as I said, the prizes here rule (given that all the other bars around are between double and 4 times as expensive). Don't try the alcohol free cocktail tho unless you're a child. It is way too sweet. The hookah pipes are okay (cheap but not the best). The outside tables are great for drinking cocktails in summer. The upstairs seating is super comfy. The bathrooms are nice.. But: DONT GO TO THE BASEMENT BAR. I warn you! It is super dark, smokey, sticky and filled with approx 14-16 year olds pretending that this basement is a club.. Yea.. No.. All in all, this is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Vienna and definitely my favorite inner city cocktail place (even tho bloom bar is like 2 min away from that place but there the cocktails are about €16) Go there for Indian food, drink some cocktails and then go check out some of the neighboring bars. The worst food I ever had! We waited for 25 minutes just to get some naan bread, that's ridiculous and unacceptable! When we finally received our bread, there was a dark hair on it and instead of taking the food back and apologizing for the circumstances, they started discussing about the hair and said that it wasn't their mistake and the hair wasn't from them and said it was mine. The fun fact about that is that I'm blond and the hair was black! And the prices were ridiculous! 12€ for a curry + you have to pay 3,50€ additionally for the rice. NEVER EVER GO THERE!!! read more

Our group of six was wandering around the Stepahansplatz when we spotted the bright orange sign. Outdoor seating attracted us to it. Good food, but slow service, that's why the 4 *. It has an extensive cocktail menu, but the drinks are watered down. Insist on making them the way you want them!! Also, they did not honour the 20% discount for a checkin!!! read more

Please dont go to this place. This is the worst restaurant ever i have visited. They have kept staff who are on drugs or something. After paying them for the food bill, they asked me again for the bill amount and moreover not asked they forced me for giving money. The food was also very poor. Try others indian restaurants. This restaurant was poor. We stopped here as we happened across it looking for dinner. We were hungry so we stayed, but regretted it. The waiters were new, which we did not blame them for, but they did not take time for pleasantries as we suspect the owner was on their tails. The owner was pushy. We ordered a Gruner Veltliner white wine from the wine list. What we got was cheap, warm, and not what we asked for. When questioned, they insisted it was, even through the label said nothing of the wine variety. Then the food arrived. At least it was a good plateful, and it smelt good, so we tucked in. We had all ordered Shaslik, from their speciality section. Unfortunately it just tasted really really salty, and had no heat. There must be better Indian restaurants in Vienna! read more

We had just come into Vienna and every placed we passed was packed full with people. We came across this place by chance and decided to risk it. There were only a few people there and people were drinking but not eating. That should have been the first clue. I had the schnitzel, since I've never had it before, and my partner had the bockwurtst. This was an Indian place so the schnitzel was turkey and not beef. It was okay. The bockwurtst was beef, and having eaten at many east Indian establishments, that was surprising. Each dish was 13 euros -- a bit high for the type of food ordered. Wouldn't go here again or recommend it to others. Service was good though. read more

The staff at this restaurant are the most courteous I have ever seen. They are willing to do anything to keep you satisfied with the food. They are quick and flexible. The food on the whole is not the best but yet not that bad and pretty authentic indian food. It is a little more expensive than others in the area. read more

Bought a Dailydeal Gutschein valued Euros 68.60 for 29 Euros on the internet and went there to experience the taste of this Restaurant with my wife this weekend. First comes the Linsen Soup which was absolutely tasteless, Moreover it had a piece of Aluminium Foil inside. Lucky enough to see that before eating.After being informed about it, Owner didn't apologise, even laughed and said that still we are less dangerous than Chinese Restaurants!!! For the maincourse, We were served with a plate of Mittags menü containing a handful of rice,mixed salad and 3 small pieces of grilled Chicken and not to forget one piece of Lamb specially mentioned by the Owner. Received 2 Naans too for which we paid later without even telling us that they were not included. I would say that Potato Chips taste better than those Naans. Anyway, Then the Waiter comes and asks us whether we want to eat Gulab Jamun or not for Desserts? So no option to choose any other Dessert. In actual it was a 4 course Menu. In the end, I paid 25Euros for 2x1/4 Whitewine, 2xNaan and 1xMango Lassi. Funny Factor-One (Third Class)glass of wein(1/4L) costs more than 7.50 Euros.Being an Indian and living here in Vienna more than 10Years, We know the taste difference in Wein and Indian Food. So overall, 2 out of 10. We often go to other Indian restaurants in Vienna. I would recommend Demi Tass as the Food there is delicious and Wein collection is pretty impressive with a five star service. read more
