We had SUCH a lovely experience here and we were so lucky to have snagged a table! My friend and I had been shopping all day and were ready to take a break and get some dinner. We walked in and were told we could stay downstairs and eat, or go upstairs and try that restaurant- which was more sushi based and Asian infusion. We decided to go upstairs as the food sounded delicious and the views of the cathedral were amazing. We were seated quickly and ordered spritz's and wine. The menu all sounded amazing, but my friend and I both decided to get the build you own stir fry with chicken. The food was delicious and fresh, and it was definitely nice to eat after eating a lot of bread and cheese throughout our trip :) The server was wonderful and so helpful. Standouts (positive and negative): Pea and Mint soup (4/5): Tasty and came with a small, cheesy gougere-y bonus. Baby spinach salad with caramelized eggplant (0/5): Aggressively dressed (WET) spinach with a few small chunks of eggplant scattered throughout. I had high expectations for Do&Co given its Michelin guide listing, but my experience was beyond disappointing. First, the service was downright rude and rushed. The waitstaff seemed like they couldn't wait to get away from the table--practically sprinting through the restaurant. We had to ask for our wine twice because it took 20 minutes to arrive the first time. When we reminded them, they mistakenly brought two more glasses and then blamed us for ordering it twice. Second, I have a severe allergy to one ingredient, which seemed to be in almost every dish on the menu except appetizers. When I asked if any dishes could be modified, the waiter flatly said, "No, not possible." That left me with no choice but to order just an appetizer as my main, which earned me a judgmental look from the waiter. Sadly, the food was just as disappointing as the service. I ordered the shrimp appetizer, which turned out to be nothing more than plain boiled shrimp floating in a bowl of olive oil. Completely underwhelming, especially for a restaurant of this supposed caliber. After such a bad experience, we just wanted to leave, but even getting the check was an ordeal--we had to request it 4-5 times. Then, as we were finally leaving, a staff member asked why we were dissatisfied, only to tell us it was our fault for not informing them of my allergy--even though we had at the start of the meal. At least they comped our drinks, but the overall meal and experience were absolutely not worth the price. To top it all off, they automatically added a 20% service charge and still asked for an additional tip--completely absurd given the poor and dismissive service. Do&Co is absolutely not worth the hype, the price, or the hassle. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Extremely RUDE! Horrible experience at this restaurant. Hostess and somehow the BOSS Yulia was the rudest individual I've meet. I arrived upstairs with my party simply asking if it was possible to have coffee and desserts. She gave the good ole up and down stare and said "yeah this isn't a cafeteria...this is a Michelin star restaurant" and gave a lazy nasty look. Now I KNOW she's lying and this cannot be a Michelin star restaurant, because in order for restaurant to achieve this rating it's based on the quality of the waitstaff as well. Apparently this restaurant was all booked up... for us. The hostess was extremely snotty. We are staying next door and I wouldn't bother to come back. We were dressed fairly formally also. We typically spend money when we eat, but we won't be spending it here. Very disappointing. I'm staying at this hotel for business and had high hopes for the restaurant. I called and made a reservation for just a table of 1. The space inside was fairly empty. Despite there being very few tables to attend to, service was very VERY lackluster. It took almost 40 MINUTES from when I ordered my appetizer to when I received my main. That's UNACCEPTABLE. All I ordered was a sushi roll. It doesn't take almost an hour to make two cold rolls. The waitress never checked on me in between- I had to flag her down. It wasn't until I waved her down to ask about my order that she even walked over to the sushi chef. From my seat, I had a clear view of the kitchen. He hadn't even started preparing my dish which makes me wonder if she even put the order in to begin with. Terrible. The food in general wasn't bad. I had the fried prawns and the inside out sushi rolls. Not the best I've ever eaten but decent. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE WAIT. For the prices they charge- there should be much more attentive service. I will not be returning here and will be encouraging others to forego it as well. read more

** went to the café downstairs on the square, not the restaurant on the 6th floor ** The "Kaiserschmarren" was served in a little cardboard box (the type used for street food to go), which is just not what you'd expect from a pricey place like this. The "manager" or maître d (don't know what he was, but he dressed rather business casual, not like the waiters) was snotty. Very unusual for Vienna. The waitress was nice. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night without a reservation and was allowed in even though it was expected to be busy. Waitstaff were courteous and service was good. My friends and I all enjoyed our drinks. Perfectly timed courses, delicious food! Our server knew the wine list well and recommended a tremendous riesling for our dinner. I highly recommend the tartar appetizer. Make a reservation early so that you can sit on the terrace that can overlook the cathedral. read more

Right opposite the Stephansdom, you have to go up the lift to the sixth floor to get there. There are tables indoors but on a nice day it's great to get a seat on the outside terrace with views overlooking the church. The breads that come as you sit down are absolutely delicious (€3) particularly the olive bread. I ordered the lobster for main.. Quite pricey for the relatively small portion but it was great quality and the cauliflower mash (with a hint of curry) worked well. Service was as you would expect - very very good. These reviews by others do not make sense to me. Sure the food is good, and I can speak to the beef consommé and the Chicken Curry dish but it's not a 5 star or 4 star experience at all. Here's why: the tables are cramped together, you're on top of the people next to you while the pricing is for a restaurant with space between tables. The service is hard and requires prompting. I asked three times before I received water and had to hunt down to order my main after the original choice was unavailable. The view is nice but only visible from half the restaurant. The thing that really knocked the restaurant though was the decor. I felt like I was in a Russian building built in the late 90s to look futuristic -- but one which failed to accomplish its goal. Very odd to me and totally different from Do&Co's much better outlet at the Albertina. I will not be back. read more

This was somewhat disappointing. We made a reservation through our hotel, as the restaurant was recommended by them. I would have expected better service and a bit more sophistication from the waitstaff. We waited a really long time for our server from the beginning and generally the attentiveness was lacking quite a bit. Some of the food was good, but none of it excellent. Certainly an upper scale restaurant with much to offer. The dress code and pricing definetly matches that atmostphere as well, so I would suggest dressing up, otherwise you may get some strange looks (I was almost afraid of being not accepted having had no fancy clothes nor reservation and being given certain looks...yikes!! Hence the 4 instead of 5.) At Do&Co Stephansplatz I had the filet of a spring lamb after the Best of Inside Out Rolls for starters. I was also served the best olive oil to my basket of bread at a quick request. There were even fancy salts they provided. Though the portion sizes were pretty small (as expected in these types of restaurant), I did manage to enjoy every bite I had of this luxurious meal (mind you, they were small carefully selected ones chewed slowly). It really is the place to take in every bite slowly and let your tongue's tastes buds explore what the chef was trying to say and all what the food has to offer. I had never had sushi that tasted that amazing in my life before. I have eaten at several sushi restaurants in the past (before my new found yelping days) and really they are just uncomparable. There was a flavor explosion my mouth, followed by a dance all night. I never wanted that flavor to leave my mouth and somehow it didn't, even after the wonderfully prepared lamb. I don't know how a restaurant manages to do that because most times I am left a bit nostalgic after only a short time of the taste that was, but this taste lingered in my mouth throughout the night. The terrace overlooks the monumental St. Stephan's cathedral as well as many other landmarks within the vicinity. Came here with a group during Christmas holidays. We started with an aperitif in the bar level and then walked upstairs to our table in the restaurant level. The place was busy but not to noisy so we could carry a pleasant conversation. An important disclaimer: I am comparing the service and food with US standards. Service was ok nothing went wrong but the young waitress wasn't able to fill the role of a host of a top notch restaurant. She forgot to bring my soup so the table had to wait. Something that was repeated again at the next course with my friends meal. For the food: No amuse bouche but fresh bread as starter. I had a wok with chicken for which the chef had used to much soy sauce, way too salty. The others seemed happy with their meals and we still had a good time. I would not come here for the food or expect great service, it's really the location that is a killer. read more

This popular place tries to be many things...and succeeds. Reservations are a must, but the flip-side is that they don't fill all tables, only what they're staffed appropriately for. That's refreshingly responsible, especially for a place so popular it could get away with not doing so. We had an assortment of cooked dishes and sushi. All were excellent. The boulliabaise is a particular standout. The seafood are shelled, so it's easy to enjoy without getting it on your shirt! The trio of mousses was spectacular and rich, while the key lime pie was a creative take on an old American classic. BOTTOM LINE: It's über-popular but never gets old. read more

I've never had a bad meal here, and I've enjoyed plenty , but it's somehow not quite as exceptional as some of the other places I have been to in Vienna. That said, it is a little cheaper, so you pays your money and you takes your choice. And your choice consists of "modern international" or "wok" food - I'm not a big fan of anything cooked in a wok, so I stick with the modern international, and it's good. Service is good, wines are good - in short, everything is "good", just not "really excellent". Two other points: - on a summer's eve, sitting out on the balcony overlooking Stephansplatz and the Graben, it's a lovely place to be. - it's also a good place for spotting Nikki Lauda, who sometimes hangs out here, if you are into seeing F1 world champs. read more

I was very disappointed at the quality and service of a restaurant that is this pricey and claims to be an up-market fine dining establishment. It really is a shame too, since the location next to the Stephansplatz is probably one of the nicest in all of Vienna. First of all, the service staff were all quite young and did not seem very experienced. They got our order wrong and seemed to be running around in a frenzy so we could rarely get their attention when we needed to. The food itself was not worth the price either - the appetizer we ordered had a nice tasting sauce but it was drenched all over the tuna to the point you couldn't enjoy the taste of the tuna (maybe that was a good thing- the tuna didn't seem to be of a great quality anyways). The sashimi we ordered continued the disaster with overall fish quality being very disappointing. They even included "rollmops" (german canned fish) in a 30+ Euro dish. This was frankly an embarrassment for a restaurant that has a very stylish ambiance. If you do decide to come here because of the wonderful location try one of their fusion dishes - you may fare better. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. read more

Interesting room and location. Slightly strange fusion cuisine with mostly Asian influence, but then bread and butter with four kinds of salt on the tables. Like I said, a bit odd. However, it seems to work. The food is fresh and good. I wouldn't say it's better than anything one could eat at innumerable Pacific Rim restaurants throughout the world in the 90s, but it's still a good place to go occasionally. read more
