I'll start with the good, the service was friendly and the ambience was nice. Tasteful decor. However, I expected more for a Michelin bib gourmand restaurant. The chicken thigh yakitori was OK- some little bits were blackened which gave this dry bad burned aftertaste. The eel nigiri was really delicious. However the scallop nigiri tasted off, and unpleasantly bitter. The rhubarb dessert I didn't like at all, and left the whole thing. They gave me a chocolate mousse on the house because they noticed I didn't eat the dessert, but I didn't really like the mousse either. The desserts really weren't well balanced, I'd take them off the menu entirely. The cream was overwhelmingly sweet, rhubarb mushy, and crumbles perplexing. I get what they were going for with adding texture but it didn't work. The mousse was two note, raspberry and chocolate, overwhelmingly sweet. The worst part was about 10 minutes after leaving, my stomach started to hurt terribly. It was definitely something I ate there. I had horrible stomach cramps/pains and sickness following. I won't go into the details, but I didn't have anything else to eat and this came upon pretty soon after leaving the restaurant, so I'm certain it was from something there. Maybe the scallops I thought were off? I trusted all of the great reviews.. assumed they know how to handle their shellfish. Maybe the dessert? I don't know what made me sick here, and I'll spare you the details, but I'm stuck having to stay close to the bathroom now and I am not thrilled. read more

Eating here is an absolute must. I can't think of a single dish we had that I wouldn't get again. Even the miso soup was a standout. Would definitely recommend the tori karaage, the mushroom don, and all the sushi. You'll want a bite of everything so bring friends and share! read more

Taste wise it's worth 4 stars but definitely not overwhelmingly great. The seating is nice and I think it's overhyped. The reason for 3 stars is because this place is totally overpriced. You have to spend at least 30€ per person to get somehow full. What to skip: Green peppers, spinach What is worth a try: cauliflower, surf and turf, spicy salmon, fried salmon in miso sauce and chicken karaage. I usually try to eat the regional food while traveling, but I was missing sushi and saw on the Michelin guide that this was the place to go. The service was amazing. I came here by myself and sat at the bar, which was super neat, as I love watching people cook. I felt very welcomed by the host and the chef, and they both gave great recommendations. I had the Sake Wafu, which was unbelievable and probably my favorite dish out of the three. I then had the Suzuki Aburi, which was also very delicious. Finally, I took the host's recommendation and got the Poppy Noodles for dessert, which ended up being a very pleasant surprise as they at first seemed like a strange choice to me. This is a good date night spot if you dont mind sitting right next to the open kitchen. It is on the higher end of average price-wise, but I'd say the food and ambience are worth it. Everytime I walked by this place, it was always busy and you are lucky if you get a table without a reservation. We were advised to reserve a month ahead of time especially in the summer and fall season. The recommendation of the house was the Dragon Roll and Tan Tan Salad. We went for the Be My Friend Roll and Chicken Karaage. Get the chicken. Beware that rice is extra. read more

LOVE this place. Their sushi rolls are amazing. It's usually pretty crowded and it's not easy to get a table, therefore reserving ahead is a wise choice. Sometimes though you can get seating spots on short notice at the "bar area" but I wouldn't count on it and mostly these seats are only for small groups of people. Excellent service! Very friendly to my very American self dining here alone. My server was very attentive and informative about the menu. I'm not used to very saucy sushi rolls in the US so was overwhelmed by the use of mayo in the two rolls I ordered. I went with the spicy salmon and the hamachi roll, as there weren't any rolls without mayo or sauce. Overall, good flavor but strong with the sauces. I'd come back for the friendly service alone and try some other rolls or other menu items. read more

What a great restaurant. Very nice cozy atmosphere inside and pleasant terrace. Service was very friendly and fast in the right way. The food was nothing short of great. We had the carpaccio to start delicious! We ordered sushi nigiri plate excellent rice and cut of the fish. I even enjoyed the shrimp which so often is tasteless and consistency of flour, here it's very well cooked and great taste. We also had spicy roll, nice !!! Absolutely DELICIOUS food and drinks. Casual atmosphere and they were flexible with their ordering (we had a couple of custom requests.) A very small space though, so I'd recommend planning in advance and booking a reservation. It's a pretty tight space, too, so don't expect a lot of room to move around, which is why I removed one star - it feels pretty cramped. As you'd expect, the mochi is delicious if you're a fan, too. The best place in Vienna to enjoy modern trendy Japanese. Period. Yes, there are a number of very good classic traditional Japanese restaurants in Vienna, but this is a different story. All dishes I've tried so far are fancy and really tasty. It would be hard to make the rolls any better. Their fried stuff is great, especially the warm deep-fried shrimp salad. Wow. This place was phenomenal. Every single dish we had were so tasty and well prepared. The calamari was lightly fried to perfection and the karrage chicken was delicious. It is without a doubt a really nice and good restaurant, far away from the cheap Asians ones you can find everywhere. Their Cuisine is full of flavors and style, and since they are very successful I would advise you to make a reservation if you want to make sure you can be sited. To be honest, it would be a nice place to take your love one on a date! I particularly enjoyed watching the talented cooks prepared our orders behind the bar/kitchen! The food tastes very good, and is well presented too. Plus, their crème brûlée with the Matcha Green Tea flavor was perfectly made, like by a French Chef pâtissier: with a crust of sugar caramelized on the top (therefor warm), but cold within. Bravo. But somehow we had to wait too long for our orders, and it was too expensive for the size of the portions... To be honest, I was surprised to see Japanese food being so... well, fatty. Went here with a large group which was not ideal. This is a very small restaurant and should be recommended to small groups or lovers. The food was delicious and made well but too expensive for the portions of food. I ordered the spicy tuna rolls and got the green tea creme brûlée. There's only one word you can use in connection with Mochi - Perfection. The service is great, everyone is super friendly, the food is of an unseen quality with a changing menu while maintaining their classics (Best Friend's Roll etc.) at the highest standard. Whether you are a local or just visiting, missing out on Mochi is a no-go. Highly recommended. read more

It's a nice place, but the menu they gave us had the lunch specials not the items available for dinner. So, they didn't have what I originally wanted, and I ended up getting something completely different. Which was delicious, but it was a bit annoying. The server did recommend a better deal for a different thing I was ordering. So that's a plus. I definitely prefer their take out side more than their sit down joint. After several unsuccessful attempts to book, due to the fame of this place. Some friends and I finally managed to get a table. We were all so excited! The food was absolutely extraordinary and very well presented. I had the Mochi for one and the Matcha Crème Brûlé. The service however was a disaster. First of all... We ended up being 4 people instead of three and although the fourth person could clearly fit perfectly, the waitress gave the friend that informed her about the additional person a very angry look. Secondly, one friend ordered a beer and considering the classy level of the restaurant and the prices... The fact that she wasn't brought a glass for the beer straight away was quite ridiculous. Thirdly, once a bigger table next to ours became free... Instead of approaching us politely, the waitress tapped one of my friends on the shoulder and showed the free table. All in all. The prices of the meals may as well correspond to the quality of the food which is absolutely to die for, but the service really needs improvement! read more

reservation (way in advance) is a must since it is a small place. Try not to get the table near the door since you have everyone standing near you or going in and out constantly. The food is good, perhaps not cheap. In the summer, you can sit outside. we ordered the salmon sushi plate and it was very good. They also have a sushi pizza that was not typical( sushi on a potato base). All the other sushi rolls are very good and tasty. read more
