I am still a newbie to sushi, but the sushi I had here has immediatelly become one of my benchmarks. Maybe because of a tiny bit of caviar on top of each sushi-piece, no idea, but I found it exceptional. I tasted my first Dim Sum too - and I am happy I did it exactly here. Now I believe it can only be amazing.
Above all this is another great location for my personal restaurant/bar list for the first district - only around 200 meters behind Kärntner Straße. Lovely ambience - the mix of modern and fancy, and slightly industrial, with a bit of Asian influence, ready to brilliantly fulfill both of its functions - kitchen & bar. At first I definitely wanted to sit at the bar, since I had the idea of open kitchen and street food, but here the bar is rather a place where you get your drinks and that is fine too. Other seating possibilities are very comfy, including one long bar-table which I can imagine bursting with life on a Saturday evening. Don't know if that already is the case, as the place is brand new, but it definitely should be.
We were welcomed by a very professional and pleasant waiter who made the ordering process relaxed and enjoyable. The appetizer mix for two that he recommended was partly still too exotic for my level of understanding Asian delicacies. It included things such as pickled lotus root and pickled something else that I can't recall now and didn't fall in love with on first bite, but the salmon tartar with bio-avocado was a dream. I can't wait to go again and make my own selection from what I know now. Because what followed the appetizer made me want to base my whole diet on it.
Another thing to like here are the prices, as they are indeed fair for the quality and service level provided. Drinks are not the cheapest, but food will make up for it at the latest. I was very happy with that extremely light Tiger beer, but there is enough selection of mixed drinks too for any kind of mood. Best thing about food here next to its taste is that it can be combined in some sort of tapas way - which they call "Häppchen". You can choose between various small portions of sushi and co. and regular sizes. That possibility is highly welcome. Have I mentioned that they have also come up with the loveliest and most organized menu presentation I have seen? Something that all restaurants with that much variety should consider. All in all, I'm already planning my next visit! read more
