i came here regularly last year for brunch following a long saturday morning run with friends at nearby shoreline lake. we loved the outdoor seating and beergarden feel...and yes, you can order beer in the morning here! my go to dish is always either the feta or mushroom menemen ($14.95), both of which consist of scrambled eggs, baked tomato, bell pepper, onion and either feta cheese or mushrooms on a cast iron plate. i love both the smell and taste of this turkish breakfast plate since it is so different from a my usual egg dishes for breakfast. the cast iron keeps everything warm for a while. this usually comes with a piece of turkish pita bread, dense and delicious on its own, or used to dip into the juices from the menemen. there is always plentiful seating outside, even for groups as large as 20-25 (which is what my group usually is!) the line can be a little long at times, but it does move quite efficiently...you get a number, sit down and the waiter brings you the order. there is only 1 restroom inside, which sometimes results in a longer wait, esp when the restaurant is busy. since castro st is still closed, you will need to park a couple blocks away, but as long as you don't mind the short walk, there is always tons of parking within 2-3 blocks of the cafe. solid place for breakfast, lunch dinner or happy hour! read more

The beer selection here is not bad. I got a grapefruit radler and I really enjoyed it. I like that you can also get any beer in a das boot (1 L) for a pretty good price. You can also get a flight of beers, if you'd like to try out multiple ones. However, the food here is very mediocre. I ordered a chicken sandwich, and the chicken breast was extremely thin. I wasn't expecting a gourmet sandwich but I can get something better with my money. read more

This is my go-to spot if I am catching up with a co-worker from previous workplaces or with a bunch of girlfriends. I recently went there to catch up with a co-worker after work. Place was nice and quiet around 6pm with lot of empty seats being available on a Friday evening, which is always a plus. We ordered a glass of wine each with croissant and tiramisu. They have a huge variety of baked goods that one can order with their wine or coffee. Tiramisu was really delicious and is my favorite. They had an option of rice pudding that I am planning to try the next time. Their coffee is good too and I have seen many people having their coffee and working on a laptop. Its a popular hangout spot for people working in the neighborhood. Highly recommended spot for quick chat-ups without the formalities of getting seating, placing an order, and waiting for the checks. read more

Ordered the mushroom menemen for brunch. Portion was good -- about a meal and a half for me personally, although I was hungry enough to finish the full plate. The bread they serve with their breakfast was absolutely delicious. The breakfast itself was good -- juicy from the tomatoes and very flavorful -- but it was a bit more pricey than I thought it should have been. My meal was ~$15 which was a bit higher than expected, but that's my only real complaint from my experience. Other comments: Quick service, lots of outdoor and some indoor seating, place started getting busier ~12:30pm on a Saturday. read more

Last Saturday I came here for the second time and it was the proof/reaffirmation that it is a good place to eat. (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). Its dining area is cozy, spacious, and perfect for relaxing, enjoying your food, and the street view. I had the famous Turkish Breakfast (light, varied, and full of flavors that combined are very enjoyable), my friend ordered something "safe" and something traditional: traditional beef burger & gyro pita. He was very happy with both options (meat with good seasoning/taste and not greasy) and of course a traditional beer (he was really happy with the combination of food and beer). The staff is friendly and always looking if you need something, and ready to clean/disinfect the areas that are vacated to prepare them for the next people. Its menu is very varied and extensive, which will give you the opportunity to go more than once and enjoy all its options (and its desserts!) Bonus point: the location, it gives you the opportunity to walk -after eating (and not feeling so guilty about the dessert you ordered) through the whole Castro street and enjoy the atmosphere of "the streets closed to cars". read more

I have became a regular customer here. The location is very good. It's just beside the Mountain View Light Rail Station, after you have the beer , you can take the light rail or CalTrain home if you have limited budget for Uber or Lyft. Food here is good and you can bring your growler to fill up with the draft beer. 64oz. is about $28 plus tax. Although, it is about $8 higher than the Lazy K9 Beer Club (Subscription: $35/quarter). After I've gone through the Lazy beer club poor service, I would rather paying the additional $8 here. Highly recommend this place. read more

Closest I came., to getting a beer in a Biergarten in Freising sipping a weihenstephan Hellas beer. Amazing Beer, excellent pretzel(they serve it warm) . Will try their kebabs and Gyros next time. Awesome vibe and a great spot to grab cold German beers on draft, sit outside on their patio, watch trains and people go by while listening to Beatles and Chuck berry They should really call themselves a Biergarten instead of a cafe and bakery!! read more

Came here for an outdoor lunch on a pretty sunny Sunday. I ordered a chicken souvlaki plate, while my boyfriend got a beer and the gyro pita. The chicken souvlaki was fine. Very mediocre. I thought the rice on the side might have a little seasoning or something to it but it's just plain rice. Overall, probably a good kid friendly meal, just not high on flavor if that's something you're looking for. My boyfriend liked his gyro a lot and it was a pretty ambiance. read more

Been a long time customer, but the food quality (or lack thereof) was never the driving factor for our weekly group gatherings. The newly reopened biergarden 4 blocks over has nicer shade, significantly better beer options (both variety and price) and way better food. Will never look back! It's a pity since some of the servers (Elario) are amazing, the ownership is curt, non friendly and doesn't seem to know how to keep up the ambiance they could. The outdoor patio since being redone still has beer up chairs with a focus on margin sales (instead of allowing the QR code ordering for the entire menu). read more

Came here on a Sunday for lunch with a book club and was happily surprised to see all the outdoor seating. Great place to bring your dog and sit in the sun. I had a hard time choosing what to order since there are so many options, but I went with the chicken pita wrap which was good. Got the walnut and pistachio baklavas to go and they were a 3/5. I don't know if I would come back, but if I did I would try something new read more

I went to this restaurant because the Google said it was a Greek restaurant. Turns out it was really more Greek fast food place along with a German restaurant combined. The beer selection was almost all German and was very good. Beer was served in half liter or liter mugs. Good selection of German beers plus some others. The German menu was more extensive and went more into full plate meals. It was good but not great. I had a wurst platter. One wurst was really good, one was dry and not a good texture and one was watery. First time I had a watery sausage. read more

The service here is always good and you can't beat the outside shady seat choices. I usually like what I order so tried the Falafel Salad for $19.95. The 4 falafel balls were so hard I couldn't insert a knife or fork and tho the salad and dressing were ok it is overpriced. I'm not sure why sesame seeds were in the falafels!!??? I will definitely get something again tho and my husbands breakfast and huge cup of coffee looked delicious. read more

This place is always packed. Seems to be a favorite among locals (although I've only gone once or twice). Although they specialize in Mediterranean cuisine, their alfredo and chocolate cake were out of this world. Ironically the best alfredo pasta in town (imo). Their actual falafels were alright. SPRING BREAAAAAK!!!!!!! I wanted to take a nice vacay in Europe or Asia, but my bank account was like, "Ummmmmm. You should just go to the park." Well, I guess I don't really NEED to go to an exotic place. A friend of mine reminded me that we're fortunate to live where there are so many restaurants from different cultures when we had breakfast together on a Tuesday morning: "Let's meet at my daughter 's school and we'll walk to Downtown Moutainview. "How far is it?!" "Thirty minutes. We should exercise." "Woman! I just did 90 minutes of yoga before I came here. I'm done exercising, I need to E A T!" She gave me a quick tour of what's in downtown and decided on Olympus. Surrounded by trees, flowers, plants, we sat outside to enjoy the sun. I LOVE the outdoor seating. I am definitely coming back when we have more sunny days!!!! Turkish breakfast #3 was incredibly tasty with eggs, bell pepper, onion, and feta cheese. I liked eating it with the simple, soft bread that had a slight hint of salt. The Turkish tea was a little bitter than the green tea I usually drink in the morning, but it was sufficient to fill my need for tea. I tried my friend's Spanakopita, and I liked the cheese and spinach filling a lot, I decided to get one to take home. But it was way oily when I heated it up at home. I was about to give this place five stars, but the wait for my pastries was ridiculous. The guy behind the counter rang me up for a baklava, chocolate croissant, and a spanakota. I don't understand why he didn't bag them right away. I had to wait until rang up three or four people behind me. When the line was gone, he still didn't bag them. I knew he could see me. What the heck?!? After he bagged them, I still had to wait, until I realized too late that he put them in the oven to warm up. I told him twice I wanted my pastries to go. Why heat them up? I may not have been able to go somewhere extravagant for Spring Break, but at least I had a little taste of Turkey. Is it really similar to the food in Turkey? Not according to some reviews I've read. Oh well. I still enjoyed my breakfast. Hopefully, someday I can find out! read more

Came here on a Sunday morning and got the special Susec Menemen with the Turkey sausage and the peppers and pita! This place has a ton of outdoor seating and you get served relatively quickly I really enjoyed that they also had Exploding Kittens which I played before my food came. The pita was super flakey and tasty and the tomato flavor was really great and savory so the whole Turkish breakfast dish stood out a lot. Would come again. read more

Yesterday was our first and last time going to this place. We ordered gyro pitas that were incredibly disappointing. It took over an hour receive them, hardly had any meat, barely any flavor and one of the plates also had hair in the food. The outdoor tables surrounding us were all starting to complain about their wait time as well. The staff would bring out meals at random. They'd bring one table a meal then another table a meal leaving both tables with 1/2 of the food still missing. They also were awful at refilling their water. Several customers (including us) kept asking for them to refill their water and it was nearly 100 degrees out. The wait time was absolutely rediculus. We got up from the table to complain about waiting over an hour and all of a sudden our food came out within seconds. It was incredibly frustrating. read more

Idk how these guys could be rated negatively? My husband brought us here on a Monday evening. Super clean inside, kid/family friendly an overall relaxed atmosphere. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. The service was great. The gentlemen working brought out everything to us and had a kind demeanor to them :) Ordered chicken schnitzel and a bratwurst plate and a pretzel and a couple brewskis. Everything tasted great. 3.5 stars Downtown Mountain View has transformed into a little "restaurant city" with plentiful outdoor seating in well-decorated spaces! Olympus has evolved with the Covid times as well--what used to be a Turkish cafe and bakery is now also a German-style beer garden! They've creatively doubled their menu offerings and set up a tented/umbrella-shaded area for outdoor seating on picnic benches and regular table and chairs, complete with contactless, QR-code ordering. My pick from the original Olympus menu was the combo appetizer plate, which came with four ramekins containing hummus, baba ghanoush, black olives, and two dolmas, along with two rounds of sliced pita bread. The hummus and baba ghanoush were on the thin, watery side, but the soft, chewy pita bread made for a nice vessel for the dips. I also tried the gyro plate, which came with slices of gyro, rice, and salad, along with salad dressing, tzatziki, and more hummus. This plate came with pita as well, and I also asked for a round of Turkish bread, which had hand-formed dimples and was pleasantly thick and chewy! Overall, the food here was rather average for a Turkish restaurant, though the beer garden atmosphere was so pleasant and festively-decorated! read more

A great place for breakfast! This place has been one of our favorites to grab breakfast after shopping at the Mountain View Farmer's market! Expect some wait time on weekends, it does get pretty busy. Last time we were there we got a Veggie Crepe and Menemen with egg whites. The crepe was perfectly made, stuffed with avocado, mushroom, onion, tomatoes, pepper and cheese and topped with more avocado slices. Served with a side of fresh salad and hash brown, it was a complete breakfast platter. The egg preparation was good too, scrambled egg whited with baked tomatoes, onion and pepper. The tomatoes made it pretty runny, but tasted good with a side of bread. We finished our breakfast with Turkish coffee and baklava. Great place for some good food around Castro street. Service is pretty slow when they are running at full capacity but they try serve everybody well. read more

I have always liked this place for casual ambiance. Place your order at the counter and they will bring your drink/food to your table. My German friends love this place for the beer selection. I personally like their hot wine. They have a lot of outdoor seating with long benches. They are right opposite the Mountain View Caltrain station in case you are taking the train. Also, lot of parking around where they although Mountain View Castro street parking has been busy lately. Restroom lines are always long as they only have one restroom. read more

This place around the corner of Evelyn and Castro St. has really good food and beer. We recently got take-out from here, after the new bay area shelter-in-place orders. Their web site was good to use, the order was ready on time, pick-up was easy. And most importantly, the food was super tasty! They're also open till a bit later in the evening, for a last minute dinner take-out order. We loved the compostable packaging being used, with zero waste to landfill! Winner for me! read more

I come in often, and enjoy a beer after a long day. This place has the best Happy Hour for beer on Castro!!! Das Boot? Yes they have it, along with 1L, .5L and sampler sized sized beers for a 3 beer flight. For food I love the soup, falafel, feta fries, and gyro. (Please bring back the orange crunchy french fries!!!) I personally had the crab omelette and left no crumbs behind. The potatoes were well seasoned and wish I had enough room in my tummy to finish them off! The drip coffee was bold and delicious not watered down at all! Finally, we shared the 2 stack biscoff pancakes for a sweet finish. The pancakes were bouncy with biscoff sauce and a mound of whipped cream. This was mouth wateringly delicious. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but this was so yummy. This isn't a traditional sit down service but counter staff were friendly and efficient. There is a small parking lot off to the side and there is indoor and patio seating. They usually help you find seating (which is all outdoors) and bring out the food. From there everything is self-serve, whether that's for utensils or simply getting water. The food is delivered very quickly, but not super hot. Overall, I think its good food, and worth the visit if you're in the area.
