Fabulous ice cream and very pricey, but worth the indulgence. Definitely has a cult following here in lower Puget Sound.

I just realized that I did not write my review two and a half years ago as I was planning to do. I was reviewing the Sequim Lavender Festival and wrote that Olympic Mountain Ice Cream was the absolute BEST ice cream I've ever tasted, so stay tuned for a review...but never got around to it, until now! Why did I remember that I've been needing to write a very overdue review? It's because I've been on the quest to find superior, designer ice cream that is not mass-produced and I still have not found it. I went to two local ice cream boutiques in my home town recently (and two in Washington state last year) and nothing can ever compare to Olympic Mountain, which sucks, because I can't ever get this ice cream unless I go back to Washington State for a visit! I am not sure what kind of cows make the milk for their ice cream, but it is the absolute, most creamiest, decadent, delicious and fabulous ice cream you will ever eat! I have never had anything so memorable before. If I had known I would have limited opportunity to eat something so marvelous, I would have eaten a lot more of it. Olympic Mountain Ice Cream is the type of product that you will put on your Yelp profile as "Last meal on earth" because it's seriously THAT good! There isn't a better ice cream! I first had this ice cream at a shop in Port Orchard, at least 13ish yrs ago, fell in love with almond chocolate and vanilla, root beer float, lavender lemon sorbet (best and most creative sorbets EVER) and on and on and on! This is a Mason County family owned creamery, we went we visited we met the owners who are sooo friendly and we also purchased a commercial amount of sorbet! They typically don't sell to the public unless you want over 3-5 gallons I believe. The family makes all of the ingredients, so if you see blueberry cheesecake ice cream, they're baking the pies right there! The owner is truly the Einstein of ice cream and he only sells to retailers promising to commit to a very controlled set of rules; temperature, cleanliness, proper storage, etc... This ice cream can be found throughout Mason County, Olympia and mainly Seattle and other fine restaurants. You know how you get some ice creams and that's all it is, well this ice cream you taste the cream, the freshly roasted nuts, fresh berries, seasonal ingredients! You don't taste sugar and artificial flavors! This might sound odd but his ice cream is just the right "melt in your mouth" consistency, ah, perfection! It's worth a drive to find it, he really should have a cone stand at the end of his driveway! Oh I almost failed to mention, when we visited he took us into the ice cream factory, what a privilege, sterile and chilly! Wear a parka and call ahead for a tour don't just pop in! This little gem, located off the beaten track (as far as I am concerned), is a MUST try if you are within 20 miles. Well worth the detour if that's the case. My bro and his wife knew of this place and made the detour. This was some of the best, if not the BEST, ice cream any of us in our group has tried. Olympic Mountain Ice Cream is awesome. I love this stuff! I'm addicted to the Rum Cherry ice cream to the point that I go to Hunter Farms and have them order it for me. Olympic doesn't sell to the public unless you want 3 gallons or more, which is why I order it by the quart from Hunter Farms. Hoodsport Coffee Co. and Hunter Farms usually stock 8-10 different flavors and Alderbrook Resort also serves their ice cream. Their website has all the flavors listed and other distributors too. They have the staple flavors, some exotics, and also seasonal flavors that are made with fresh peaches and berries. Get some creamy goodness! read more

Olympic Mountain ice cream is the BEST ice cream I have ever had. Yep, better than Haagen-Dazs, better than Bainbridge Island's excellent Mora's. Olympic Mountain is unlike any other ice cream. At first bite you know it is something special, subtly delectable, eaten in wonderment. My favorite ice cream by far! Only place I can find coconut almond fudge chunk. My husband made a special trip for me on his way back from the ocean and didn't have enough cash on him for the gallon and a half container so they said "just mail it to us" who takes an IOU anymore?? We had the most wonderful ice cream and when asked the waiter told us it's Olympic Mountain ice cream. It was toasted coconut, and caramel nut chocolate. We had it at Lemon Grass cafe in Lacey. Wonderful. read more
