We ordered the half bird hot, three-piece catfish, a kids meal, and a fountain soda. Out of everything we tried, the catfish was easily my favorite. It was tender, nicely breaded, and had really good flavor. The dark meat chicken was also delicious, and the hot seasoning had just enough kick without being overwhelming. The white meat was a little hit or miss for me. My piece was somewhat stringy and tough, although that could have just been the piece I got. The kids chicken tenders were decent, though, and everyone seemed happy with their food. My only real complaint is the pricing. It's a little steep for a fast-casual restaurant, especially when you're feeding a family. Still, we had a good experience, and it's a solid, family-friendly spot if you're craving fried chicken or fish. If we go back, I'm definitely getting the catfish again.

The lady who rang our order up was very nice and cordial. The chicken was served hot and juicy but had a coating of season salt on top of each piece. The French fries were seasoned and hubby would not eat them due to the seasoning. Cole slaw was fair, mixing creamy and vinegar. They carried Excel soft drinks from Excel. The iced tea was not drinkable due to tasting like coffee. Lemons for the tea were old and shriveled. Will not be returning...

++++ food ++++ family atmosphere…read more The food here is delicious! I ended up getting the LW burger with pub cheese and it came with shoe string fries, the burger was thick and juicy, while the shoe string fries with garlic aioli as my sauce was, perfect! This is a pretty good family atmosphere, they have high top tables but also had high top high chairs! A real positive in our book, haven't ran into many restaurants that have this option. I would suggest if you have little ones to order your food when they take your drinks because the service can be hit or miss depending on the time you go, and food can take a little longer than expected. So get the little ones ordered in first and then decide on the adults.

I only saw two high top tables for two people and they were in corners. So we sat in a corner on backless stools. Stools in restaurants should have backs!Pretty uncomfortable and we won't do that again. It also has really high ceilings so it got pretty loud in there. Our server was Erin and she was good! The place was packed inside and outside (in the rain - there were umbrellas over the tables) so the staff was super busy. She kept the drinks and food coming at a good pace. We started off with drinks and onion rings. We had been told how good the onion rings were so we had to order them - they lived up to the hype! I'm not a beer drinker, but my husband is. He had three different ones and didn't really enjoy any of them. He tried Tidewater Plains, Master of the Universe, and Batholith. I had a Jungleberg cocktail and liked it so much, I ordered another one. The server said they were out of them. There were five ingredients in the drink so I have no idea what they were out of. I ordered a Spicy Ancho Margarita and it was okay. It shouldn't be called spicy, because it is not. I ordered Chicken Wings and Onion Soup. Yes, it was summer. But it was cold and rainy and soup sounded good! The soup was very good - very cheesy and they didn't put a chunk of bread in there to get all soggy, which I appreciated. The wings were okay. They were way too saucy for me. My husband got the Philly and said it was okay, but nothing special. I would have probably given 3.5 stars, but that is not an option. I'd go back for the onion rings!

I got an order of their "world famous chicken strips" and was pleased to see that they do it with grilled. Hooray! And with the Syberg's Famous Wing Sauce, they were absolutely delicious and there was nothing left when my friends arrived oops. It's an Irish themed restaurant, so I did Guinness (which was very good) and the corned beef with cabbage (and extra cabbage instead of potatoes). My friends enjoyed their fried chicken salad and pizza. And the pizza looked tremendous. We were here for nearly two hours, well cared for by our waiter who cut the check up properly, ensured that dirty dishes were removed and refilled iced tea as needed. Great service! Fabulous food, too. This was a delicious meal and we all had a great evening. Five stars for Helen Fitzgeralds! [Review 1088 of 2026 - 582 in Missouri - 26267 overall]

For early afternoon, it was fairly loud and a bit difficult to talk. The service was really slow this visit, unfortunately.

We got a table right away and the waiter did his best and showed up pretty quickly. We ordered pretzels and drinks...got the drinks...30-40 min later, our food came minus the pretzels. I was pretty bummed as we are big soft pretzel fans. When we inquired about it, he's like they might be back there, they might not be. We told him just to nix it because they're probably cold and hard. Our table ordered a variety of plates and some had issues with them, some did not: Dublin dip - sandwich was cold but tasted great Bangers + mash - no issues Buffalo chicken sandwich + fries - chicken had some over cooked places which made it hard to eat. Fries were fine. Fish + chips - fish was so so, Italian potatoes were too slimy - got fries to replace, those were fine. Overall it wasn't bad. I just hope they use each experience as a learning experience and prep for the next one. This won't stop us from coming back and trying again.

After a weekend in St. Louis, it was time to catch the train back to Kansas City. You gotta love…read morethe quaint, small-town feel of downtown Kirkwood, so I'm glad we decided to board the train here. With a 3:45 p.m. departure and a five-hour train ride ahead of us, we knew we needed a good meal. Billy G's was a perfect choice, located just about a block from the train station. Having never visited before, I'd heard plenty of praise for the restaurant's outdoor patio. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperating, so inside we went. Walking in on a Sunday afternoon, we were greeted by large-screen TVs showing NFL games. My immediate thought was that we'd be choosing from a typical sports bar menu. Boy, was I wrong! Billy G's offers an extensive Italian-American menu, from appetizers and pasta to pizzas, burgers and more. I'd heard the Trashed Wings were outstanding, and apparently the burgers are enormous, although I didn't see anything quite the size of a person's head at our table! The house salad had that familiar St. Louis Italian restaurant flavor I've enjoyed at other places around town. It's hard to describe, but if you've had a traditional St. Louis-style Italian salad, you'll know what I mean. I ordered the Sausage & Peppers pasta, thinking I'd keep lunch relatively light. At $18.99, I wasn't expecting the mountain of food that arrived. The portion was enormous, and I could only finish about half. And it was excellent! The combination of flavor, quality and generous portion made it a terrific value. Good thing I didn't order one of their large plates! Billy G's turned out to be much more than the sports bar experience I initially expected. With an extensive menu, excellent food, generous portions and a convenient location near the Kirkwood train station, it's a terrific option for anyone looking for a substantial meal before hitting the rails.

The majority of this location is patio but the inside has plenty of room too. A perk about Billy G's is the fact that each plate is a large portion leaving you full and wanting to come again. I had a salad with salmon on my last visit and it was fresh, crisp, and delicious. The pretzel bites were a great appetizer for us too. Accessibility note: they have extremely limited parking so plan ahead. Their accessibility ramp is longer to avoid a steep incline. The restrooms are also central to the restaurant so ask to sit closer if you need it. Also sometimes it can be very loud due to the patrons and patio music.

The vibe is inviting year-round, with retired taps draped from the ceiling, Guiness and Jameson flags all around, wood floors and exposed brick walls. The inside is perfect for frigid winter/humid summer days and the outdoor patio space is a go-to for beautifully mild evenings. As a beer-and-variety enjoyer, I appreciate the relatively extensive rotating draft list that cycles through many local favorites and seasonal options. We've tried a decent portion of the menu and nothing has disappointed. One quick highlight is the adult grilled cheese - simple, but delicous and surprisingly filling when paired with tomato bisque. Service has taken longer than one might expect on the past few handful of visits dating back to the holidays. To be fair, longer waits are understandable around Thanksgiving and Christmas and I can't speak to their back-of-house process. I don't think I'd recommend Llewellyn's if you're looking for a quick sit-down meal around peak lunch or dinner hours, but I can say our servers have always been very friendly and accommodating with each visit. Check it out if you find yourself in Webster Groves with time to spare and a stomach to fill.

We were 11th in line when we signed up, and by the time we arrived, we had moved up to 5th. Since it was raining, we decided to wait in the car. When we reached 3rd in line, we were unexpectedly removed from the waitlist. I tried calling the phone number listed on Yelp, which was the same number displayed on the building, but it went straight to what sounded like a personal cellphone voicemail. We decided to go inside anyway and discovered the waitlist wasn't necessary because there were plenty of tables available. The menu had a lot of interesting options, although I wish it included photos of the dishes. We ordered the Hawaiian Bowl, the Truffle Burger, and what I believe was the Blueberry Jam Burger, along with regular fries and sweet potato fries. The burgers were juicy and flavorful, and each bun was stamped with the Circle 7 branded logo, which was a nice touch. The Hawaiian Bowl was delicious and generously portioned. I had enough left over for another meal. The atmosphere is definitely more of a sports bar than a traditional restaurant. Every wall seemed to have multiple TVs, making it easy to watch the soccer matches from just about anywhere in the dining room. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and checked on us several times throughout the meal. Before leaving, we couldn't decide on just one dessert, so we ordered the dessert sampler. The cobbler was the standout--it tasted homemade, especially the crust, and all of the desserts were served with ice cream. The only disappointment was the brownie, which was quite hard instead of soft and fudgy. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the service. The only downside was the confusing Yelp waitlist experience, which could definitely use some improvement.
