Took my nephew & his girlfriend for dinner tonight, the place is surprisingly busy. Good thing we got the booth towards the end because the restaurant was quite noisy & hard to have a conversation. Service was decent and staff were friendly. Food: The texture of the meatloaf was off. The meat doesn't bind and it's not moist or tasty at all. BBQ Ribs was another disappointment. It doesn't have any smoky flavor or taste. Feels like the chef just steam the ribs, brush some sauce over it & call it quit. Any ribs you get from the Deli sections of Giant or Harris Teeter stores are way more delicious than this. The two things we will come back for are the soft & warm bread, it is amazingly delicious. Stopped here for lunch before a show at Olney Theater. I thought it was a nice local spot for lunch and good proximity to the theater which is always nice because you don't want to worry about getting caught in traffic when you're trying to see a show. The service was excellent. Most of the food was really good (the crab cake was real crab and not bread crumbs, the spiced shrimp was delicious...). Some good was good or okay (the "old bay" fries were just good fries but not seasoned, the potato skins were heavy on cheese but not flavorful...). Prices a bit steep, but not ridiculous. Service was slow but fine, Sandwiches were good. I ordered 1 lb Chicken Wings, the cook brought out 5 wings, not even half a pound, I asked where the rest were? His quote was "well I just put a couple on the plate." I told them I wasn't paying $16 something that wasn't even close to what they had on their menu. He took them away and nobody made any effort to make things right. I would have spent a lot more money, but not after that. I have been coming to this place since 1988, doubtful I will return for a long while. Don't advertise 1 lb on your menu and than pull this crap. read more

We've been to the Olney Grille a handful of times, and I used to go periodically years and years ago. It's always busy, so obviously the Olney area relies on this restaurant when they want something that is seemingly a step above the other places nearby. I have found that the food is uneven. First off, we had never been until last night! Second, parking was the easy button. Huge lot, and lots of room! 1. The appetizer (Cajan egg rolls_) was amazing! The dipping sauce was the right mix of zipping (spice) and flavor. Although, my dining partner did a double dip! 2. The meals - Salmon was declared average. The Prime Rib was simply out of this world. 3. Salads were amazing. 4. Sides, I had a loaded baked potato; it was average. 5. Desert came; it was truly beyond amazing. Our server was awesome. This is a classic go to place in olney for a quality meal that's just a little fancy. Good for a date night, celebrating an occasion, or just having an evening dinner. There is a dining room with tables, booths, and bar seating. This place is basically an institution it's been here that long. If I am in the mood for a nice burger or a steak, I'll come here. The bar has televisions usually playing sports. There's bathrooms in the back near the kitchen. You don't need a reservation but I always suggest you make one. This place gets really busy on a Friday and Saturday night. The food is delicious and I've frequented here more times than I can count. The price range is $$. The staff are friendly and there is good service. I really enjoy coming here. The menu is more succinct and doesn't change that often. They do have a daily specials menu that changes. It is a great place to all ages, families, party sizes. It has that home town local dinner spot vibe. My food is always delicious, I definitely recommend coming here. I was invited to a birthday dinner at the Olney Grille. I was a little hesitant because I had not heard about the restaurant in years. But, I am glad I went. It was packed with diners on a Saturday night and the wait staff was on top of it. We had a party of ten and the waiter got the table drinks and warm bread right away. They had all of the orders out at the same time and everyone seemed pleased. The huge hits of the evening were the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. I have never seen a plate wiped cleaner in a shorter amount of time. My friend scarfed the meatloaf and mashed potatoes down and was really happy with his dish. It looked homemade. I had the steak salad and it was delicious. There were many grilled vegetables and a fair amount of tender steak. I really enjoyed my meal and would order it again. The birthday boy ordered pork chops and he loved his meal. My only hiccup was that I asked the waiter for a separate check in the beginning of our order. When, we were getting ready to leave he said that they didn't do separate checks. Then, he said that he didn't want everybody else in my party to ask for separate checks. I thought that was not honest and he shouldn't have waited till the end of the meal to let me know that. So, the food was good and the service was good, but clear any requests with management or you might get a surprise at the end of your evening, as I did. First time here, we were not set out for The Olney Grille, in fact we were heading for Gettysberg and the weather turned bad so we decided to exit and just googled restaurant near me. First impression in the door was quaint, the place is clean, very roomy and nicely decorated. Service was great, our server "Brain" was very nice and attentive. Pros: Clean restaurant Friendly staff Nice menu options Nicely priced Cons Food could have been hotter Food Choices were bland. The menu was nice with good choices and variety, I ordered The BBQ Ribs and my wife ordered The Chicken Penne Pasta (Both Pictured). We were given warm dinner rolls while we waited which were very good. Our food came out very fast which suprised my considering my food was warm but not hot. The Ribs were fall off the bone but the sauce was not very good or maybe needed more of it, I've had much better ribs out than these. The side of Cole Slaw that came with was ok, creamy and sweet the way I like it, also came with a side of fresh hot veggies that were nicely done and crisp. I also got a side of Onion Rings with a side of creamy pepper sauce with was very good. My wife ordered The Penne Chicken which looked good but we both agreed that it lacked flavor, nothing special. My husband and daughter liked it. They ordered fish but my son and I weren't impressed. I had a cheeseburger. Maybe I watch too much food network but I don't think it's a stretch to expect the burger to be seasoned. The fries were good. Also, I don't know what was going on but someone appeared to be burning something at another table and the smell lingered over our table most of the time I was eating. You wouldn't think that would happen in a warehouse style environment. So you have to deal with the loud noise and you don't get any benefits. I had the best prime rib last night at the Olney Grille. Through the years I've been so disappointed every time I ordered a prime rib out. I got to the point of just cooking my own. Well I heard the Olney Grille had prime rib on the weekends and thought well let's give it a try. I have to say this was the BEST prime rib I've had in a restaurant in years in Montgomery County. Did not disappoint, it was cooked perfectly, the horseradish sauce was delicious and the baked potato was freshly baked. The service was fantastic and had a nice atmosphere. We've eaten here before, but never on the weekends and we've always had good experiences and great food. I think we'll be back often. read more

This was a pretty bad meal. The spiced shrimp appetizer hadn't been deveined and was over-seasoned. The chicken salad sandwich was served on what has to be the worst bun I've ever seen. Cold, hard, and dense. The kind of thing sailors used to live on in the 16th century. The chicken salad itself was fine (lots of tarragon). Bright spots: the fries weren't bad, and the Greek salad was normal. Service was fine, although I got the impression that no one was happy to be there, and I definitely don't blame them. Ambiance was bleh. Like if you took all the decorations out of an Applebees and just left the floor plan. The clientele was, how to put this... not diverse. When you want something good this is the place to go. You will feel right at home at this place. It's a warm feeling when you walk in and your greeted with a smile. The food is tremendous, I started off with a vodka and cranberry drink because that's my go too on a Friday evening. The bartender is amazing when it comes to making drinks. For dinner I had the two crab cakes with homemade mashed potatoes and apple sauce and let me tell you it was so so good, I can't wait to go back the crab cakes are just out of this world amazing and you can't beat the price for two, I believe it was around $26 for the whole platter and it was well worth it. Had lunch here on Wednesday, and I'm definitely "SOLD" as a new fan. Lots of senior citizens were having lunch as we arrived, always a good sign. Full (but not overwhelming) menu, and they have REAL menus too, not that symbol you're expected to scan/scroll through with a digital device. After telling our server we were going to a show at the Olney Theater, she expedited everything, and we were able to relax/enjoy. Delicious, fresh salad, tasty onion soup, and 1/2 chicken salad sandwich, and you could tell everything was made right on the premises, even the salad dressing. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the mustard chicken. Great service, friendly without overdoing it, and I was never wanting/waiting for anything, either. This is a great place in Olney for a wide array of food. Not everything is great but they do have fresh fish which always seems to hit the mark. We recently came here for a quick bite. We weren't super hungry so we shared some chicken wings and onion rings. The chicken wings here are very good, I highly recommend them, especially the old bay dry rub! My daughter got the plain pasta and I got a salad with Blue Cheese dressing. The dressing was a bit disappointing, didn't have much of a taste so I got some of their peppercorn ranch which was much better. I get carryout here and have had several occasions recently of missing items or incorrectly made dishes. The most recent was with the apple smoked BLT that was missing cheese (clearly states melted swiss on menu). Hamburger came well cooked, which is as my husband likes it. The server came and took our order after giving us extra time to survey the menu. He kept an eye on our table to attend to any needs. Over this past week, he is known for kicking out someone for being a minority, and blowing up in their face. The wait staff is young and friendly, but could be a tad more attentive. We had trouble flagging our guy down a couple of times. The food, however, was a great upscale menu-- yet, it had no suprises to it. All "normal" upscale fare. I had the prime rib, as it'd been a while. It was delicious, but the staff forgot the au jus. All the others at our table loved it. It's tucked away in the corner of an L shaped strip mall. Recently had my first visit here, and I was pleased overall. The food was good, but not great. I ordered the Devil's Pasta for my entree at the recommendation of the server. I finished the plate since I was starving, but it's not something I would probably order again. However, I ordered the crab potato skins on the side, and they were delish, but I was a little deceived. There were cheesy potato chunks with a crab dip and I was expecting there to be some crab meat involved. Still tasty though. Nonetheless, I will return to check out a couple of other dishes that looked pretty good. Also, the service was great. She was sure to check on us throughout the evening and was very friendly. The hostess was so sweet and seated us right away, even asking if we preferred a booth or table. Our server saw us immediately and got our beverages straight away. I really enjoyed the food as well. We had the bacon and cheese potato skins and N'awlins egg rolls. I really liked the potato skins, they had a good ratio of cheese and bacon. The egg rolls were interesting, a bit spicy with an Indian-style flavor, I would skip next time. I had the Cobb salad for my meal and all the meats and veggies were really fresh! A little place in a nondescript strip mall - why bother... BECAUSE... Olney Grill is a great foodie spot, it is not a chain and because their menu has unique items AND tasty food. Was in the mood for appetizers that were unique or twists on classics. The Bayou Shrimp was 7 peeled shrimp (no heads!) in a buttery Cajun sauce. On the side, a loaf of toasted French bread to dip. YUMMY, fun, and not something you'll find a TGI Tuesdays. Thai ribs was my other app choice. Luciously tender. Full of flavor. Lean. Tangy ribs with a side of slaw that was worthy of billing on its own. If going off the full menu I'd pick the rack of ribs, but I'll likely continue to use their appetizers offerings like tapas type menu. They had interesting looking egg rolls, dip, and app specials (today's were baked Cajun scallops and Brussels sprouts in bacon. ) With all of the chain restaurants around, it is pleasing to find this nugget of flavorful creations in an unexpected spot. read more
